Could you also use the custom modes to change frame rates quickly? For example C1 is vlogging setup with 24p / 50SS / Auto ISO. C2 would be 60 FPS, 120 SS. C2 super Slow Motion 120 FPS etc. And are they separated from stills? So do you have dedicated Custom modes for stills and video? So I could do C2 for burst (wildlife) and C3 settings for Timelapse (16:9 aspect ratio). That would be great!

So what do you reckon in terms of settings for my brand new Fuji X-T4 with the XF 16-55 2.8? Do I try and throw at it H.265? What I really want to achieve is shooting slowed down 4K (24 fps down from 60 fps), but my concern is that the 264 variants don't allow for 4K 60 fps, correct?

Hi Pascal, thanks for this tutorial. I just bought today a same camera fujifilm xt4 - I have a the macbook Macos Siera - can this handle the file of 10bit? and also, my software for editing video is Filmora x. Just too expensive on Adobe for me.
It depends on which Macbook you have. The M1 and newer Intels handle the 10bit of the Fuji pretty well. Just try it out. Adobe is buggy anyway. Best to get the 90day trial from Final Cut Pro and save 100$ each month to buy it at the end of the 90 days.
I am really struggling with noise in the shadows especially when shooting F-log ( I believe I expose correctly for log) but also a fair bit using Eterna. Any guidance, tutorials, etc would be great.
@@pascalbasel On a waveform monitor my blacks are 25-30 IRE ( in F log ) When I pull the blacks down in post there is still some noise in these areas. Shooting at iso 640. I can't figure it out.
I have XT4 for a few days. Please, does anyone know how to turn off in movie mode, auto exposure correction (symbol +-)? I've tried Button in various positions (0.C...) and it doesn't affect the outcome. I have everything on maual and when I move the camera into the light, for example, the image becomes visibly darker and the number "exposure correction" on the display changes. Please help. Thanks.
ISO: C, Shutter: T, EV: C and in the menu set it to movie optimized control. That the EV number changes is correct as it shows you if you under- or overexpose but it shouldn't do any exposure corrections if it's set up right.
Thanks for the video, is there in the x-t4 the possibility to simulate a "Lut" when shooting in f Log to have more control over the exposure? thank you, I do not know if I was clear, sorry my English I'm Italian:)
Hi Pascal, great video, thanks! I have one question: can you comment on your experience with video shooting and the camera internal temperature? I just got this camera and I noticed that it is warming up: in 4k, 59 fps after 21 mins it shuts off. In 29 fps, it gives me lots of yellow temp warnings. Do you think this is normal or my camera has some issues? Thanks!
Thanks, I actually never had any overheat warnings, but the camera got a bit warm sometimes. I shoot in 24 and 60p. But 60p only on and off shooting (I don't understand why anyone would shoot 21 minutes straight in 60...).
Can anyone help me with this issue? Id really appreciate. I currently have an XT4 and Ive been very careful to keep my ISO low (shot in 4k/ F-LOG)but for whatever my footage is still grainy. Is there a way to get it more crisp? Thank you! ISO: 640 SS/F stop: automatic Shot: F-LOG
Don't use any automatic settings and don't use f-log in low light. Also expose a bit higher when you shoot log, so that you need to make it a bit darker in post. That lets the noise disappear. Search for expose to the right to understand how to expose for log.
Hello & thanks for your super clear videos! Hello, I have a big problem … unfortunately it's blurry and/or extremely noisy no matter what I do in my videos. Although it's midday, 4K and ISO 160. What is the reason for this? It must be something in the settings ...
Hello Pascal, I use the xt3 with the 16-55mm lens, but when I zoom in and using gimbal, my images are not stable. The xt4 has stabilizer on the device, does this make a clear difference? I doubt to buy the xt4 for this. Do you have video images with your 16-55mm lens and the xt4? Greetings Yves, thanks for your info on youtube
Most of the shots in my X-T4 videos (especially X-T4 Cinematic Footage) are shot with this lens and handheld. A bit of post stabilisation sometimes but it generally works pretty good. When you're zoomed in fully and you try to film objects very close a gimbal is oftentimes not ideal anyway as close up shots still show mistakes you do with your hand the gimbal can't compensate for as it's only 3 axis.
New to the X-T4... And I can't for the life of me figure out how to shoot 4K 60fps slow-motion... It won't give me the option for that.. It only says 100, 120, and 240...
I heard that the #XT4 comes with an "Asist LUT" option, so that we can view the video in any picture profile & get the outfut as FLOG. Any idea about that?
It's called View Assist. You can not view it in any picture profile but it gives you an idea how it looks later. Very useful, I use it all the time when I shoot in FLOG.
@@pascalbasel my only fear is that my computer may not be able to read that file formats or my software would not be able to work on it. I use filmora 9. I have Divancc 16 as well. How can I get a sample footage on H265 format to see if my pc can handle it

You can do that via the full hd high speed rec option in the menu. But the quality is bad. I would not go beyond 120p. If you need it slower, record in 120 and then use optical flow to make it even slower.
@@pascalbasel Thx man :)
I just use the view assist tool and expose normally (ETTR).
@@pascalbasel On a waveform monitor my blacks are 25-30 IRE ( in F log ) When I pull the blacks down in post there is still some noise in these areas. Shooting at iso 640. I can't figure it out.
Love all your videos pascal, a question... wich lens is at the min 3:25? Im so impress by that shot! Saludos desde Chile!
Thanks a lot. I think that was the Viltrox 23mm 1.4 as far as I remember.
How can you tell if your computer is fast enough for the 10 bit footage higher setting H 2.65?
Check if your cpu or graphics card support HEVC 10bit 420 or simply get an M1 Mac ;-)
Pascal Basel how can you check?

Hello what was this tutorial shot on? What camera and lens
X-T4 with Viltrox 23mm 1.4.
Thanks, yes that functionality is call F-Log View Assist.
Thank you for the very good video. How are your "sharpness", "noise reduction" and "saturation" settings usually with the Eterna or Classic Chrome?
I didn't change sharpness, NR or saturation. I just made it low contrast using the curve.
Thank you!
ISO: 640
SS/F stop: automatic
Shot: F-LOG
Don't use any automatic settings and don't use f-log in low light. Also expose a bit higher when you shoot log, so that you need to make it a bit darker in post. That lets the noise disappear. Search for expose to the right to understand how to expose for log.
what aspect ratios can the xt4 shoot with when recording video? can is shoot 4:3?
Hello & thanks for your super clear videos! My question is: when shooting in Flog or one of the film sims with flat tone curve, am I better with LONG GOP or ALL INTRA - if i want to do a little grading in Davinci Resolve with 2013 imac 24GB (nvidia 755M 1G graphics card... a bit slow!) i mostly making short videos for youtube and websites. what do you/others think? any thoughts appreciated! thanks : )
#f log. Btw, great tips. I will definitely try some of your recommendations.
Hi guys, I really would appreciate help with this one, I tried an xt4 in a shop recently and noticed that the whenever I was in video mode the exposure was stepping drastically every time I moved the camera into slightly different slighting, I will be using this camera for professional video so clients work needs to be as smooth and aesthetic as possible! I am not thinking is this the right choice or should I go for the Sony a7iii?! Any help would be greatly appreciated on how to resolve this problem as I love this camera!!!
For professional video you shoot in manual exposure and you don’t change it while recording. So the stepping is not an issue.
New to fuji here - Does anybody know why in my movie IQ menu the film simulation and a few other settings are grayed out or disabled?
Likely because you turned F-LOG on.
@@pascalbasel Oh wow, I was under the impression that I could shoot with a film simulation while also recording F-Log, thanks a lot for the prompt response Pascal, and great work on the channel! 💪🏼💪🏼
Hello,
I have a big problem … unfortunately it's blurry and/or extremely noisy no matter what I do in my videos. Although it's midday, 4K and ISO 160. What is the reason for this? It must be something in the settings ...
Not sure, I would bring it to a shop. Could be a faulty unit.
You can't be angry at someone with that accent.
Really? xD
@@pascalbasel Yes! Its very affable 😆
@@pascalbasel Thanks, I gonna try to do this. Do you have a tutorial for handeld shooting ? What is the best posture for filming by hand :-) greetings
@@katrienenyves With the xt3 that won’t work as neither the body, nor the lens is stabilized. With the xt4 that works.
@@pascalbasel Yes, i have my new xt4.... yeah :-)
New to the X-T4... And I can't for the life of me figure out how to shoot 4K 60fps slow-motion... It won't give me the option for that.. It only says 100, 120, and 240...
Don’t shoot slow motion for 60P. You have to shoot normal video in 60 and slow it down in your editing app.
@@pascalbasel So don’t shoot 120fps slowmotion, viewing it as 24p ? Then slow it down later in the timeline to 60fps slow motion ?!
Very helpful video and relatively simple! #flog
Thank you 👍🏻
fujifilm xt4 lens 18-55 filter Best Name
Flog also puts your ISO into a minimum of 640
That’s normal among log profiles as it’s the base iso with most dynamic range and best color rendition. Don’t worry about noise at 640.
@@pascalbasel would be a great help if you could tell where do I find that in the menu section.

@@pascalbasel that's a great help! Thanks mate.. ❤️
Can we record 60 FPS in h264 8 bit rate?
I don't think so (but didn't test it). And I wouldn't recommend doing that ;-)
@@pascalbasel my only fear is that my computer may not be able to read that file formats or my software would not be able to work on it. I use filmora 9. I have Divancc 16 as well.
How can I get a sample footage on H265 format to see if my pc can handle it
