I actually picked this stuff up on a bit of a whim and was really pleased with the results on my minis, didn't even occur to me to clean my matts with it though, my eyes have been opened.
I too have tried using isopropyl alcohol and >eek< acetone to clean my mats, but thought that paint stripper would be too harsh. This is flipping amazing! 🤯
That is beautiful! I have made the mistake of sticking ISO or acetone before and had a little teary moment when I saw I was wiping my grid away from the mat. Lovely little tip this mate. Smashing.
This was a very useful wee video on how to get paint off your cutting mat. Thanks for the idea. It would be fun to see how you use it to strip a miniature.
I cannot tell you how damn happy that I found your channel, sir. I haven't seen a single video of yours that I disliked YET, AT ALL. I am literally JUST NOW getting back into the hobby, so YES PLEASE continue with these AWESOME VLOG Tips. Seriously, no BS, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Last thing... thank you for posting up US links for equipment purchases. Very, VERY helpful! Cheers buddy!
Shop maintenance and organization is a large part of being efficient and safe. If your bench is a disaster you will be less likely to do top quality work .... keeping bad habits in the long term will wear you and your hobby down til its just not enjoyable .... and eventually one may just quit.
Thanks Mate! Just about ready to buy a new mat and it's good to know they can be cleaned up that easy..vs buying another mat. Cheers! You should through in some links to some good mats you might recommend as well. I'm looking for a new mat and stumbled across your video.
good tip - i wdn't have even thought about stripping paint from my cutting board. would have just bought a new one, and like you said it can cost £15+. Thanks for the tip - keep them coming, as it helps novices like me! :)
Love to see how you use it to strip minis. I already use it on metals but I think I don't use it properly...... also keen to see it used on plastic and resin minis
I've used Wilko's paint stripper before to strip metal miniatures it's good stuff not harsh at all, I've been wondering if it will strip miniatures of resin or plastic without damage.
I found this super useful. If you do the video on using it on mini's, just remember that if you use "stripping" in the title You-tube may demonize the video. I can't wait to see it.
Luke i need a video about varnishing with cans. I have seen Your other ones with how to spray and preventing from chips but I just need a video that shows it in practice of actually varnishing miniatures.
That is a really good tip as mine are A3 size but like yours absolutely Manky, so next q is in Aberdeen have we got a Wilko's store ? Got a B&Q DIY Store and outside a great little eatery that do fantastic Boar Burgers with Chips £5. Cheers mate
This is a very usefull and very handt tip. Thank you 😉👍. And i would like to indeed see a video of stripping paint of minis. Have a bunch of old ones that need it 😁
I use Biostrip 20 for the same job which is obviously not as cost effective but it works almost instantly. I will certainly switch to Wilkos brand mind you. Definitely do more quick tip style videos!
That's why I use a wet box/wet board or whatever else you want to call it when I pant. Also you could get a roll of clear floor mat and cut a piece that fits on top of your mat that way it gets messy and your mat stays clean. Easy to clean and or move when you need your cutting mat. Just don't cut on it or you will have cut lines all over it and it looks like junk.
Buy a newspaper . spread it out over cutting mat . build and paint on top of paper to hearts content . when finished remove a couple sheets . Voila ! Cutting matt still clean . Buy matts and cutting boards from Artistry shops and save
Hi Luke! awesome video and great tip, thank you! subscribed to your channel immediately after wateched this video! :) one question: what color do you prefer for a cutting mate to paint miniature? I've seen you have one green and I've seen a lot of artists using a black one, is there any difference to the eye or is it just a personal preference?
LOL I saw that this was a short vid and the thumbnail was such a huge difference, I thought the answer you were going to share with us was to go out and buy a new one. LOL
For those in the USA, use Ready-Strip from Home Depot
Would love to see how it works on minis, I'm fully on board the Wilkos cult now
I agree 👍
Works great on minis, plastic and metal can be left in it for a week no problem. Finecast resin does go floppy if you leave it that long.
Yup
Handy tips like this are always useful...keep it up pass them on
I wonder if you can get that solution State side. Ill check it out, thanks Luke! My mats are horribly messed up lol.

"We all have cutting mats" - Luke
*Sobbing without a cutting mat*
I don't even build mate, I just watch your cheeky vids and play at my mates.
Things like this make working in a clear hobby space productive. Well done

I like your quick videos. They are a good alternative for when you're on the run.
Simple Green is another great product to clean and remove paint, from both surfaces and miniatures. It's what I use by default.
It removes paint but not the grid?
wow thanks -my mat is a mess gotta see if I can get a hold of that here in Canada
Thanks for that. I'd love to see how you use that stuff to strip minis too. Cheers!
Classic Cheap and Easy guide, this is the stuff I subscribed for

Thanks Luke for the great idea......I wonder how many other great ideas are waiting to be revealed?
Can we just auto wax our cutting mats use the scraper and done. Will it work?

Luke this is awesome, I think you should mix these quick videos into your Chanel. As a man with little time it’s nice to have a bite size Luke’s Aps
If I'm not bothered about the grid, would ISO be good for cleaning it?
Awesome tip, mine is filled with over spray so I'll give this a shot
Great little video! Please do the series!
Does the paint stripper remove stains from mat too?
& yes I'd like to see a vid on stripping minis with Wilko's paint stripper
It'll probably dissolve the plastic
@@GeekGamingScenics that's pretty interesting, I might have to look into that stuff
Absolutely want to see the mini striping method! I personally dislike the Vallejo pre applied primer, and it's a pain in the ass.
Great video cheers. Do you have any suggestions on removing superglue?
