In this video I show you how I made an ant think it was dead by putting a specific chemical on it that ants use to signal when they have died. This is how ants know to put the ants that have passed away into the ant graveyard.

The only religion I know of that works like that is you get into Valhalla real quick if you die young as a Viking. But then, you gotta die in combat, fighting to the end. Which most people, #1, don't believe in, and #2, don't have in them to do, so they're SOL.
Any way you look at it, people are putzes when it comes to religion. You gotta live well, die well, or both, and they miss the point. You're only in this life once. So two things you might as well do; 1, kick off your shoes and stick around for a while, and 2, do something good with it. Don't die a little early hopin' you were just "good enough". Live long, live well, and die well if you can.

If you think of an ant colony as a single organism, like cells in a body, this looks less like the ant thinking it's dead and more like an immune response to the presence of potentially harmful disease and bacteria. The individual doesn't really think for itself and instead responds to the environment almost robotically.

This was an amazing video, very interesting! However, Gel farms can be toxic to ants after a while. I’d recommend a thin sand farm. You will still be able to see the tunnels. Sadly, it’s not as pretty but your ants will live a longer-ish life.

i dont think they "think they're dead", they just react to the smell by instinctively sorting it with alike smells. it's likely that the ants already hang out in the graveyard if they get "death smell" on them transporting bodies, only leaving when they've cleaned themselves. there was even another ant in the same area cleaning itself at the end.
Good thinking, but they do in some sense think they're dead, or going to die. Because ants live in dense communities, pathogens are a huge risk for them, so when ants get sick, they quarantine themselves. The graveyard isn't really a graveyard - it's a trash bin. Every kind of dangerous refuse goes there, including ants who think they're sick.

Idea: Become the general of a colony of ants at war.
First, make 2 giant ant farms, each with a different type of ant. Say, Harvester vs. Black. Connect them to their own food-rooms. Fill the food rooms with food. Include a queen in both colonies and choose a colony to command. Say, the Black Ants. Then, hook up some pheromone emitters that you can turn on and off to both farms. Fill them with 3 pheromones: Attack, Defend, Retreat. Be sure to use pheromones specific to your chosen species of ant. Keep them off and wait about one week for them to build their colonies, then cover each queen with the opposing team's "Attack" pheromones and connect the farms together. You now control the army. For extra fun, hook up 3 more emitters with the opposing team's pheromones and 1v1 your friends.
