There is a guy in the UK whose business it is to remove tree stumps. He used to use dynamite which is kinda dangerous and requires a special license, lengthy preparations etc . Then he bought a Unimog and now he just pulls them out with it. That is Unimog power!
It’s true as a friend of mine worked with them often having to repair the tree digging attachment on the unimog,,,based in Essex ,I remember him having to drive it all the way to Southern Ireland to remove trees and replant them elsewhere on the estates ,,,not cheap
In the early days of Operating the Harrier jump jet in Germany they quite often got stuck in the mud on field trials. One day a German farmer offered his Unimog to help. Since that day every Harrier Squadron got a couple of them as they were perfect for that role. I wonder if that farmer got any commission because he was probably responsible for a well over a thousand sales from the mid 60 onwards! Even used they on 737’s stuck in the mud in Belize when the airport tow truck gave up!
Raf used them for towing Chinooks as well but I'm pretty sure mogs were replaced by the dedicated jcb fastrac with load bed, tool boxes and air supply.
I like how he didn't turn the wheels until he was completely off the gravel. A skid steer can turn around on the gravel, but you damage the smoothness.
Which is the reason for its existence - being a mixture between tractor and truck. But there is one real tractor - a version of the Hanomag Robust 800 - which is capable of running 100 km/h, so it can legally use the german autobahn.
We had these in the RAF back in the late 70s, if you get one bowling along then stamp on the brakes it would do amazing ( scary ) stopies with the back wheels way off the ground.
Geez! Some guys will do anything to avoid backing a trailer. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I appreciate how he backed up until the front wheels were off the road so that turning the steering wouldn't grind the gravel. That's professionalism on top of skill.
At 54 I won’t ever own one, but I had one as a toy as a kid. Cheapest I saw was £3000 and I figured I needed another £3000 in the bank to keep it running, so I didn’t buy it :o)
Funny I had a Corgi version as a kid too, one of my favourites. Even now on the rare occasions I see one on the road I have to point it out to someone.
Turbo diesel FTW hah. Yeah what snow runner should have been. With proper REAL manual transmission. Which devs at snow runner seem too forget about. But ever other car/truck game gets right lol.
Leider doof gefilmt...😎
I dont know about you guys, but even though that's quite a capable machine, i still wouldn't feel comfortable myself turning around like that on that type of road. 😂
I want one but every time one shows up it gets sold in an hour. You can literally put them in low get out go get a cuppa and walk back and it will have moved only 50 or so feet. 😂 now that’s low!
This is what other 4x4 want to be when they grow up 😅

Du kannst hier nicht Wenden! Unimogfahrer:" Hold my Bier" 😅
I’m English - I did not need the translator for this comment 🍻
Hold my Portalachsen!
😂
"Hold my bier" or "take this empty flasche"?
😎👍

Gut gemacht unbekannter Fahrer! Lieber Gruß Uli
How true 👍
Genau!
Besides the truck, that’s one damn good trailer hitch.
It was doing a bit of overtime there :o)
Ringfeder hitch. Standard hitch used for coupling road trains in Australia.
European stuff is always superior engineering!
Didn't see any breakaway chains though?
@@nickmaclachlan5178 I didn’t even look for that.
keeping those front wheels on the road was key

Like to see it with the trailer full of stone 🤔
@@Chriswilliams-lx9mx The trailer woul;d pull the whole thing downhill with it as the load is much heavier that the vehicle caryying it . . .
Driver has a pro off road knowledge how to drive & Uni Mog helped too!
Wow In such hill, with trailer and still managed to carry the driver and his huge balls. Good job Unimog!
Was für ein super Fahrzeug.
Glückwunsch an die genialen Konstrukteure.

The Unimog is probably the closest thing to a tractor that you can also drive down the highway.

Wirklich stark!
Good tires and a skilled driver
And plenty of room and perfect conditions
Solide Technik. Nichts dran was nicht sein muss. Kein Elektronik Schnickschnack. Nur brachiale Mog Power 😊
Europe is like no other place in the world.
That's knowing what your mog will do and what it won't. Best Mercedes I ever owned U1500
Mercedes: Would Sir like a truck cab on his tractor? Very good Sir.
Most people who win the lottery buy a porche or ferrari. Id buy a couple of mogs.
Geez! Some guys will do anything to avoid backing a trailer. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

There’s drivers and then there’s Unimog drivers 😂
You've got to love a Unimog
I wish i had one! What a truck!
Beautiful sounding engine
Artgerechte Haltung ❤
Nice. Unimog halt....
Auch vom Fahrer aus perfekt ausgeführt. Platz optimal ausgenutzt.
Der Schein täuscht!
Stimmt, Jakob hat es gerafft...👍👍

Something uniquely reassuring about the sounds of diesel engine
That's serious POWER!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Cool machine!
It’s like the forbidden love child of a tractor and a truck😂
Cool as a cucumber. That man knows his machine.
I love those trucks the best there is for what they are.
[David Attenborough voice] Ah, the Unimog in it’s natural surroundings…
BEAST !
You need complete confidence in your truck to even try that manouver, very impressive indeed, in every way.
Love those things❤
3 dimensional 3 point turn.
Impressive 👍🏻
What a beast👍🏻
👍
Mercedes is the best in everything even their tractors are beasts 👌🏼
Skilled driver too!
Beautiful good machine ❤
Klassischer Schrauberitsch. #schrauberitsch #wendenamsteilhang 😎
That was impressive, but I'd rather not ended up in that situation to begin with.
Quite impressive!
"Straßen? Wo wir hinfahren, brauchen wir keine Straßen!"
So hatte Doc Brown das also gemeint...
😂
In Mog we trust
If I can get in, I can certainly get out.
I did my MR license in a MOG, nothing worked but the engine and drive train 😂, literally no speedo, no lights nothing, good old quality RAAF vehicles
Nifty!
Wow
Unimogs please me. This is no exception.
I'm more impressed by the grip than the power
I'd have been more impressed if he did it loaded........
Need this truck in Snowrunner
Proper tires and diff lockers and most 4x4 cars could do a similar job as long as the area is flat enough to allow all tires to work.
The pink bear rides again!!!!
Gut gemacht!
Without this Taddy Bear on the front that truck couldn't do any of this. 1:11
Geil 😉👍🇳🇱

Ok I need one.

Can tell from the wheel marks that was not the first time he did that in that spot. Cool setup though.

Siegerland 💪
Lovely 6 cylinder grunt
It’s like MudRunner but in real life
A bit disappointing he didn't go up the bigger hill on the right of the camera shot.
Is that a super heavy trailer or something? I feel like my butch neighbor’s Subaru Forrester could do that without the extra turn.
Snowrunner IRL 😁
...das ist völlig normal für einen Unimog...

I expected him to take it staight up the grassy hill. Too slippery I guess. What he shows here is no challenge at all for that thing.
