    Great video. Exactly how I started years ago. Start with the basics and add as budget allows. No one will care for your meat more than you will.

    5:06 We use a 6' folding table as our cutting board. It works well and so far it has worked for 15 years processing several deer in a season. Also it is our table for grinding, mixing and stuffing.

      Yep those tables are fantastic!

    Jason another phenomenal video. Thanks for taking the time to post some informative, high quality content. Would love to see some more processing videos: skinning, quartering, butchering, etc. thanks Jason!

    Love processing. Its work but its a lot of satisfaction. Processed a cow elk few years back in my kitchen. Talk about work but it was rewarding. The Rapala filet knives are what I mainly use. I've got small LEM and a food savor brand vacuum sealer. Although when I first did the elk it all went into press and seal and butcher paper. I might add a good dehydrator and even a jerky gun are good add on's to the tool list as well. Nice rustic looking kitchen!

      Could not of said it better. " its work but alot of satisfaction ". And a skill set that can be passed dow for generations and quality family time.

    Its tradition here to process your own deer. Unfortunately I don't have much for equipment but someday. I like the wood in your kitchen

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And until you get the equipment a fillet knife and some butcher paper is all you need. Glad you are keeping that tradition going strong!

    I’d put sheaths on those knives to save the edges. Doesn’t need to be fancy. You can fold over a piece of pvc pipe or buy knife guards.
    Also a better way to do the tubs might be getting hotel pans. They’re basically metal versions of those plastic butcher tubs.
    When I was on the road doing competition Bbq. We would sometimes wash the large cutting boards in our(hotel) bathtub. It was nice cause you had hot and cold water.
    When we would make burgers in the restaurant we used to use a giant lid from a 1 gallon tub of mustard or a big tub of ketchup. It’s nice because there is no measuring.

      Great tips! I thought about sheaths for the knifes as I make my own kydex. But have been to lazy..lol thanks for the other great ideas!

    Great video Jason! I've been processing my deer for a couple of years now and I like how you have exact control over what kind of sausage or burger and how much and you know that what you end up with is what you harvested. I'm going to get that burger kit. Definitely been needing that. Thanks! 👍

      Plus it rewarding and make you feel good being able to take it from field to table all yourself. Something definitely vanishing from main stream hunting today.

    I’m not trying to promote products for financial gain, but my family has used the .75hp LEM for years and yes they are durable. However, I bought a Meat! 1.5hp grinder for $50 more and I can chew through 70lbs of grind by myself in an afternoon. It’s huge, it’s durable. Just another option.
    I think the Bearded Butcher guys promote Meat! products.

      Never heard of the meat brand. Will check it out.

    ... and a tall dish to boil all the bones.
    Am I the only one who prefers the bone broth and some scraps of meat to filet? :)
    My mother still argues with my father about buying an electric meat grinder. ;)
    I have a more serious, personal question and I hope you don't mind me asking: what is the country of origin of your surname? It sounds Polish or Eastern Europe. The only reason for my curiosity is that I'm Polish myself so it makes me wonder.

    • @SamkoTradBow

      Never tried bone broth from a deer. Will have to give that a shot. Last name is polish as my dad is polish and my mom is Italian.

    That LEM shit is the most expensive stuff on the market . If your starting out I wouldn’t buy that . Meat your maker #32 grindrr is a $150 cheaper !

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did that too. But ended up spending more money in a. Heap grinder ever year or ever other year. For me the lem was a smarter buy as its been workingbperfect for 10 years and will last the rest of my life. Way cheaper than constantly replacing cheap ones
