      The film is very weak.
Revenge is terrible and very poorly designed.
The book is fiction, I will mention the example of Princess Olga of Kiev, she prepared traps carefully prepared to kill her enemies and practice a revenge genocide. On here revenges do not seem as ingenious as those of Edmond int he novel or Olga of kiev. They are just improvisations that miraculously did not end in disaster.
Revenge is too soft, when hatred is felt, your heart is being controlled by hatred and is capable of the worst atrocities and is capable of innocent hurt. In addition to Edmond in the novel, I will quote Princess Olga of Kiev who practiced genocide, killing thousands of people to satisfy her desire for revenge.
Revenge is not soft, they are cruel and vilnettious, because hatred leads us to practice cruel acts without thinking about the consequences.
The film fails to show revenge well.

Wow! One of my all time favorite movies shot in Malta!? Now I really want to go, not just for the movie, but because I love ancient European architecture. No doubt ancient Roman architecture. Beautiful!

This movie is my second most favorite movie of all time... only "It's a Wonderful Life" tops it.

    The film is weak.
Starting with the fact that Dagmara Domińczyk who plays Mercedes is a common beauty different from Anna Samokhina, who played mercedes in the Soviet version and is more beautiful than her.
I don't think Edmond would go back to her, already with Anna Samokhina

Anna Samokhina as the Gypsy Maritana in the film Don César de Bazan. She is wonderful and any man would fall in love with her. I would believe that Edmond would fall in love with her.

In addition to the horrible script, Dagmara Domińczyk as mercedes is common. I don't understand her desire for it.
Anna Samokhina, in the Soviet version, is beautiful and you can understand Mondego's passion for her. She's so beautiful.

With Dagmara I left her with Mondego and easily found a woman more beautiful than she.

What a horrible movie. Dialogues, development, revenge and outcome. But that's for the average audience that isn't used to more complex books Never that a writer like Dostoevsky would write something so superficial.
