  • The PR Knot rose to prominence some years ago and since its inception it has been adopted by sport fishers all over the globe.
    Connecting light to medium braided main lines to monofilament or fluorocarbon leaders can be achieved via various methods, but if you want something strong and consistent, it doesn't get much better than the PR knot.
    The slim nature of the PR makes it easy to fly through guides, without weakening the wraps over time.
    A bobbin helps to make the process a whole lot easier and once you get the hang of it, you'll be knocking these knots out in no time.
    If you don't want to fork out on a bobbin, the FG is a cracker alternative and can also be found on our channel.

    I struggled but got it in the end, what I found was the bobbin needs to be quite firm for the second phase of wraps going back. I found it too firm to start the knot though, what I came up with was to leave the bobbin firm and just pull out a few inches of line to do the first loose wraps.
    I'm pretty good at tying the FG, I did notice when you burnt the mono the heat was too close to the braid for my liking, I pinch the braid in my fingers and put a heap of spit onto the mono and burn through the spit so the tag gets the ball and the spit always protects the braid.
    Cheers for the tutorial, hook in.

    Small tip..I would burn the tag before doing the last half hitches on the braid. That way I can add one or two half hitches to fill the small gap between the burned ball and the original braid hitches,saves me being tempted to burn the ball too close to the braid and burning the braid. then come down onto the braid and complete the knot as you did.

    I tried doing this up here on the North Atlantic and the damn bobbin spins in the opposite direction….😉

    I know this knot is extremely reliable. But really at the end of the day, it’s just a bunch of half hitches at it’s core. If the half hitches fail, or were not present, nothing else fancy (bobbin, coils, fingertrap) matters. It would come apart instantly.

    So I just did this not the exact way you showed and it look beautiful,. Then when I did a stress test the fluro slid through the braid. What did I do wrong?

      you need to pull both braid and flur together before you lock - i did not see this on the video instruction

    I seen a different video where the guy went counter clockwise when doing the second wrap. What's the proper way to do it?

    How about you guys tying an fg and a pr on opposing ends of a piece of mono and pull until one breaks and see which one wins.

    WAY more half hitches I want to tie. If you need that many finishing knots, then that knot sucks. That was actually painful to watch.

  • @Texan1048
    @Texan1048 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Okay so aside from using the tool, how does this differ from an FG knot? Secondly, you're supposed to do the half hitches over the tag end until you reach the end and go past it. No need for burning it. Your way leaves an offset in the line which will cause friction through the guides no matter how clean it is.
