Workout, eat right, keep learning, read, no booze, cigs, and drugs, save some money, and don't compare yourself to others. At the end of the day, your work is just a job. When I simplified my life, things became more manageable and enjoyable.
Late 50’s and feel trapped in a higher paying job I completely HATE due to toxic work environment and pressure to perform … and is causing me major anxiety, panic, and fear. Taking meds to cope but they only partially help. So trapped and hopeless that I can pivot to do something I would enjoy without the debilitating anxiety.
1. Talent? No clue at all 2.Skill?, No clue at all 3. Love to do? Don't know, don't think I have fount it yet maybe 4. Resault? More money for me, feel at the end of the day that there was a point, needed, done good etc
Thank you Ken. It is 8/3/20 and I needed to hear this today. I am 47 and my contribution at work weighs heavy on my mind. I am not in the right role and have tried several times to move to a new role within my current organization. All have been unsuccessful. I have begun to look externally because I feel in my heart that I am capable of doing more. This discussion has sparked my fire and is enlightening as I felt that something was wrong with me. I have over 15 years within this industry and over 20 years of leadership experience and I hope that I am successful in landing the right role with a great company. Thanks again!
If only it was that easy in 2020 to make new connections with people you don’t know at all, let alone someone who you’re looking to get career advice from in a field you don’t work in. I have friends but none of them work in places that I desire to work and I have very few acquaintances.
Connections are made. Anyone can make connections. You make connections getting yourself out there and getting involved/participating in events that relate to your work field or similar work field.
Oh God help me... What is it with all the California people wanting to move to Tennessee!?! We're ok with that so long as your going to vote the way we have so far to be able to remain a relatively free state, but if you're going to come and then still vote the same way you did that got California where it is, we'd really love to see you head somewhere else. Nashville is already on the verge of crazy as it is (as proven by the Mayor himself), because we already have too many people who moved to "escape" the craziness where they lived before so don't tell me that you're moving because you're conservative and we shouldn't be concerned at all... far too many people here already tried that and look where we're at. If you're going to move to a red state, please vote that way too.
I was exactly 47 when my dad passed away at age 80. I think the loss of your parents accounts for a lot of the unhappiness.
