there's absolutely no reason lil Wayne should be a professional skater at this point in time. the dude's been skating for 8yrs, he works harder than most pros and this is all he has to show? the dude can barely ollie, and he maybe has 4 tricks in the whole part that match a 15yr old nobody's first sponsor me tape.
he doesn't do it for the clout, and he doesn't need the title...so it's completely out of vanity that he's pro. and for Thank You, it's not publicity because skaters have shown time and time again that authenticity and community is what ACTUALLY sells on a sustainable level (where you at G&S?). all these massive brands like Nike and New Balance only keep their involvement in the market because of F.U.B.U.
the reason that lil Wayne is a pro, is simply because that's what friends do. he impresses pros with being so positive and working so hard. it doesn't matter the marketing, it doesn't matter the skill, it doesn't matter the celebrity status....it's just being nice to someone who deserves something nice. it absolutely bums me out that he more or less bought his way into his vanity status even tho there are kids out there with just as much drive and more skill who will never make it out of their local skatepark in east jesus nowhere USA....but no one can argue that Weezy approaches the act of skateboarding as a celebrity vanity project. the dude's been on a board every day for 8yrs, trying his ass off. he deserves something more than a pity prize. he earned the rite of respect. that's why Thrasher doesn't write about him, that's why he's not sponsored by a big company, that's why he'd be a King Of The Road challenge for points instead of a "get in the van" skater.
just some wholesome ass friends helping friends shit. which is a net good thing.

He’s not the greatest alive, but he can hold his own and seems to just be doing the tricks he likes to do. Starting at age 32 and being 40 now, and due to his main career being music, he’s probably pretty worried about serious injuries and honestly I get it. You can see that it makes him happy, and that’s what’s the most important imho.
+ 11:05 calling that a “rock slide” isn’t the most illogical thing, since it basically combines a rock and a board slide. “rock slide” is honestly a pretty dope name for a trick in general.

For the low impact skating he does, he sure goes through a lot of boards. Makes me lean more towards 'poser' than pro. Little Wayne has zero pop. Him being considered a pro is total insult to other professional skateboarders. His bag of tricks would fit in a matchbox with plenty of room to spare. He would have progressed so much more if he wasn't surrounded by yes men hyping up his stuff.

There is a person I grew up skating with named Pierre from San Francisco. He is not pro and he was given a board. The board is the: Anti-Hero Chef Pierre Crabman Skateboard. Pierre is well known in the San Francisco skate community and I do not think Anti-Hero or Pierre have claimed pro status. I think Lil Wayne can be given a "guest board" similar to what was given to Pierre, but for Lil Wayne to be claimed as a pro skater is a joke. I suppose when people started becoming pro by doing video parts and not actually going to the proving grounds that we call skateboard contests was the beginning of this nonsense. I am going to double down and say that I do not think Riley Hawk should be pro unless he mans up and competes at the skateboard contest.

He actually appears really invested.. and to start learning that stuff at age 32 is definitely a different story than for the rest of us who stepped on a board age 6 or something (and a lot of us stopped skating at age 32 already).
