@@thewindmillfullovcorpses both the 1st and 3rd song i mentioned are more "techno/club" music, Polemos is more Prog Metal/Rock. They're all good though :)

Fun fact : Casey Edwards actually worked with Mick Gordon , so you might feel some similarities in the bass.

If you liked this, I can’t recommend Devils Never Cry by Shootie HG enough. It’s the yin to this themes yang, with Bury the Light being the theme for the antagonist Vergil while Devils Never Cry is the theme of his brother and protagonist of the series Dante. Both essentially outline the motivations of the brothers and who they are.
Added that one to the list too, DMC soundtrack is very much intriguing! And since we're brothers too we can understand the rivalry haha! / George
Yay, thanks for the reaction guys, great that you loved the song (Andrei especially xD) Alas this video was made before the correct lyrics were released, so some things written in this vid are not what actually is sung, but it's not that critical.
As the matter of fact, Casey Edwards was told to not use guitars anywhere except the chorus, and apparently around solo part. So as he said he "decided to drop the heaviest bass he can make" to make up for not having a guitar in verses and everywhere else. Considering background of Vergil (unstopable crave for more and more POWER), I think that this has been perfectly done. Also, Victor Borba is a huge fan of Periphery, he made several vocal covers on their songs, and he's absolutely fantastic at it. So your comparison of him with Spencer Sotelo is quite accurate :D

One of the twists, as Casey highlighted in his interview with Alex Moukala, Capcom told him that he has very limited room to use a guitar. A lot of what you think is a guitar, is actually a synthesizer.
So he had that restraint on him.
He didn't want to leave any stone unturned, so that's why the song was so damned long. It was a work of PURE MOTIVATION.
I don't know why putting this sort of restrictions on artists is still a thing. Like if you want the song to express something that matches the game, or have some vision for it that you want the artist to respect, that makes sense. But just limiting guitar use because you can has no use whatsoever. The song turned out spectacular regardless! /Andrei

@@thewindmillfullovcorpses Casey said "They were completely right" in the end with that restriction. The reason they wanted it to be there was to highlight the calm and cool, but explosive and powerful duality to the character of Vergil.
To give you perspective, I'm pretty sure although the Soundtrack of DMC5 won soundtrack of the year in gaming, it becoming a guarantee after the DLC release which this song Bury The Light was on the DLC for, so Bury The Light really sealed the deal on soundtrack of the year

Great reaction from both of you. Glad to see Bury the Light getting more widespread love. A few things for you to know:
The video you're watching came out before the official lyrics, so a good chunk of them in the video are wrong. If you want you can check out the correct ones yourselves.
The reasons that electric guitars and heavier riffs aren't used that much are two. The first one was that the composer, Casey, was told by Capcom to not use electric guitars anywhere but the chorus, so he used bass instead. The second one is that Vergil, the character that this theme belongs to, is a bit more on the "elegant" side and so this lighter theme fits him more. If you'd like a heavier song from DMC, I'd recommend DMC3's Devils Never Cry or DMC5's Subhuman (the OST version which is this one: th-cam.com/video/9CWmp4JtaaA/w-d-xo.html).

The only thing I don’t like is that some of the lyrics aren’t the actual song. In the beginning it’s “IMMORTAL temptation” not “in mood of temptation”
It’s “keep walking the line, between the LIGHT” not “between the life”
It’s “Through VACANT HALLS I won’t surrender” not “the beacon holds, I won’t surrender”
“We fight through FIRE AND ICE”, not fire and night.
“Two souls ONCE lost” not One’s
“FADING, I’ve come to take what’s mine, not feeding
Holy cow I’m tired of editing this trying to “fix” the lyrics. This lyric video has a lot of typos, like someone listened to the song twice and assumed the lyrics while they made this video, not even proofreading the lyrics from the actual author. The second half especially the low whispering incantation before the guitar solo is half wrong from the legit lyrics

You guys can also check Spinal's theme named Warlord from Killer Instinct also by Mick Gordon. I do believe Casey might took inspiration from that one to create this one.
