The Army is a wee bit smaller these days. When i passed out in Sept 1958 there was 5 troops of around 38 each and that was each fortnight just for the Royal Signals.
Aye, even when I passed out only just over a decade ago this training camp was considerably busier. Although that was in the height of the afghan campaign where everyone was joining up for a scrap. Not a lot going on to attract people in at the moment sadly. Even Blandford camp is a bit of a ghost town now.
@thepeakybiker oh, nice, what reg? I was quite lucky - straight from Training to Afghanistan, tours are pretty thin on the ground now, not a lot going on
all i keep thinking while i watch this, is how many pushups i would have done and it would take me three times to pass. I was a dumb ass as a youngster.... wait... i still am, but a smarter one now at age 50. hope they all move on to achieve greatness. did you tell them not to get married? Men, if you want to be happy and have money in your pocket, stay single and enjoy life. if you want excitement, get a motorcycle. get the book and read it, The Rational Male. just trying to help the young guys! thanks for sharing buddy. sorry, trying to put a video together that i did last week when i got my divorce, for the second time.
I was there for my lads pass-out parade in 2004 and there were less than 30 on parade. I'm ex RAF and passed out in 87 with 137 others. Times have changed.
Sure have, bit of a lul in recruitment lately so they've been quite small parades. Although saying that, there were only 2 platoons when I passed off that square back in 2012.
The government should look at these young men and be ashamed of its self they put there lives on the line And they allow this turn out give them a decent uniform North Korea china Russia smart. Think make them proud off themselves ❤
To be fair, this is the "number 2 Dress", we do also have a smarter dress which is usually reserved for ceremonial events. It's called 'Number 1 Dress' Although sadly, not everyone gets issued it. But I do agree, the 2's are very out dated now.
This shows how badly the british armies recruitment drive is going, literally knowbody wants to join up anymore. Far better opportunities on offer in civilian street !
@jamesnoonan7450 Everyone I know who has left have all utilised the resettlement tools to full effect and have landed on their feet, also we had a climate review in our regiment a couple of months back, 0 bullying was reported across the entire regiments SP... I'm not sure what you're basing those ideas on because it's the opposite of what's actually happening 🤷🏻♂️
@dhall5785 he will enjoy it, I've moved on from there now, finished my posting as an instructor there thankfully - was incredibly tiring 😅 best of luck to your lad!

Rule number 1… don’t break your thumb and miss passing off with your pals. Great video and it’s been a pleasure 🤙
Haha, seems like a good plan to have in future!
Rule number 1:
Fight the urge to masterbate with the other free hand

Because there was national service back then so makes sense
Sweet lad enjoy you do a good job
Cheers mate! It's good fun
Remember my sons passing off parade, proud parents.
It's a great day for the parents, apparently my mum cried at mine while she was watching 😅
Pretty sad, really. Many years ago, that huge parade square, would have been FULL of blokes 😢.
It sure would have. Although I'm told our next intake is at 3 platoons strength already, but I'm not holding my breath! 😅
Looked to be a brilliant day 👌👍
Aye, was class! Good fun!
What ref were you in mukka
Still in mate, Sigs, currently 2 Army Training Regiment as a section commander, Pirbright. Due posting Feb though

Can't say I've seen it, gonna have to watch it now 😅
Classic 80s army movie with Bill Murray. Comedy, John Candy. Not worth spending more then 2 dollars
Nice video
Thank you dude 😁
Better marching the catterick
We had some good drill instructors in our training team for this intake! How ever I am shockingly bad at drill so avoided doing the course 😅

I too was a dumbass, which is probably why I'm still in 😅

I guess it's not for everyone 😅
@thelimeyrider it's not for "anyone." Terrible working conditions, bullying is wide spread and common, zero support for when you decide to leave.
