One of your all time best reviews-good lighting and sound, focused on so much detail, and could feel your appreciation for the art in this figures. Well done, good sir.

Damn, dude!!! They look absolutely freakin' fantastic!!! These are what I call proper collectible figures! I need to see if I can get these now too LOL! Im a proper viking myself, so I need these for sure! Fantastic review, my friend, and congratulations with these bad ass figures!
They got most of the esthetics outfit wise on these, though they do have a bit of a "fantasy" look to them. The vikings were mostly farmers and fishers, and leather and fur was common to only certain "vikings", depending on where they were located in the country. Ordinary fabrics and rags was the most common type of clothing they wore. The shields were often made of wood, and then painted with stripes across the wooden boards to confuse the attackers and to avoid splitting their shields. Metal was a hard material for them to work with, so it was for the most part used for swords, axes and other tools that they also used for more practical usage, such as farm equipments. The various TV shows these days don't really picture the vikings very accurate. Horns on the helmets was not very common not even for the most professional viking mercinaries. Horns got in the way or were a disadvantage in battle. The most common helmets they used were the plain cone shaped like helmets, and they were not decorated much at all. The helmets with horns were mostly for cermony use, and were mostly used by the "higher ups", such as the kings and lords.
Here is a link to a photo from a historical play of a battle that show a more accurate picture of how the vikings really looked like.
    stiklestad.no/opplevelser/olsokdagene-pa-stiklestad/
The battle that this play (The Battle Of Stiklestad) is based on took place not far from where I live right now. The place is called "Stiklestad", and is located in Verdal in Norway. Here is another link about this battle (in english) if you want to read more about it.
    en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Stiklestad
This re-enactment of this battle is played at Stiklestad every year and is a tourist attraction that draws plenty of people, and takes place during what we call "The Olsok Days" over here. Haven't been to there to see in myself yet though LOL! Anyways! Just a few fun facts for you, my friend, if these things are of any interest to you :)

Cheers brother for your history facts of what the actual Nordic brothers were ,yes do agree they are jazzeded up like knights × crusaders but i think they still look killer!! I suppose if they didnt do this they probably wouldn't sell very well..thanks again for you comment !

I did see another viking warrior by COO Models on BBTS that looks more accurate to the actual vikings, but yeah... I think the set you've got will sell better for sure LOL!
There are two types of figures in my opinion. On one hand you got the fictional figures, and on the other you got the historical figures.
As collectors, I think its fair to say that most of us are just looking for awesome figures. Iron Man, Batman, etc... Characters from comics, movies and other pop culture sources.
Some of us want very particular figures that leans more towards the "weird side", if you know what I meen. Figures like the Jereer and the two vikings you just got. Figures without a particular source material other than being cool looking figures, and maybe a "backdrop story" to sweeten the sales pitch.
Then there is the group of just a few that wants historical correct figures. People that collect presidents, dictators, various military and law enforcement figures, etc... These are people that collect figures that can be tied to actual real history and events.
Personally, Im a collector that wants fictional figures, and I belong to the group that find my figures at the "weird side" and beyond LOL! But thats the way I like my figures. Thats why I love these viking figures you've got. Not entirely historical correct, but they look freakin' awesome none the less! I love the fantasy/adventure style on them and the accessories and the way they are made. Thats about 400 USD worth of pure awesome you've got there, buddy.
PS! I was about to pull the trigger on this set myself just now, but then I checked my email and noticed that the invoice on the DamToys Assassin's Creed IV Edward Kenway figure had arrived from Kit Chen in the UK... LOL! Don't you hate it when you have to choose between two things that you really want? I guess I just have to enjoy the viking set by watching your videos instead, because the Assassin's Creed fanboy in me wins this fight LOL! Maybe I can catch them later, because they're still up for pre-order on BBTS.

I do love these guys but have to say they do go into my complex part of collecting, thus does make it difficult for me to explain my collecting impulses ,I would prefer to say they are my own side of collecting without reason and that is the way I like to collect !! I have a real cool unlicensed figure coming soon that will really through you off course . I also have Nordic blood dating back from a decease I had you can look at my old vids to see it ...Here is something you can study. Read on …..
There is a common, but not widely known condition of the hand called Dupuytren's contracture which can cause problems with straightening the fingers as well as lumps in the palm. The disease is commonly known as “viking's disease” because it occurs more in people whose ancestors come from northern Europe.

    • @Eseres80
      @Eseres80 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, I like that! Everybody have their own unique passion about collecting. But that is what makes collecting and being a part pf this community that makes it so fun! This is a common ground for a lot of people world wide to connect and meet each other. I've been talking to many people and collectors on TH-cam that have shared the idea of getting together in real life and have a bear and talk or something. Would be damn awesome to hang out and talk about figures and history, buddy!
Man, I have to look more into that! Dupuytren's contracture and "viking disease", you say..? With Northern Europe, would that meen Scandinavia, which is: Norway, Sweden and Denmark? I know that certain genetics and genetic deseases are restricted to certain geological areas. Must be a neutition, political and/or climate mix of varibales that had an impact on the people, I guess. Is it uncomfortable or particulary difficult to deal with, or is it something that you wouldn't notice that you even have?
