I will also add that because everything in the military goes through a contract (which is why a pen costs the government $25), a lot of stuff we have to practice on ourselves. I’ve given and received many IVs to colleagues, as well as placing nasopharyngeal airways (NPAs or nasal trumpets) on each other. I’ll never forget when an instructor told us medics that in the military, they don’t have dummies, they have dummies😂

my cousin went thru the marines, mainly cause he already worked out and wanted money. all he ever did was travel 💀 he went to germany, taiwan and japan & stayed there for months, then sailed somewhere else. if a marine isn’t going into battle, a damn navy officer is for damn sure; never seeing the battlefield.

Same. Also, the marines have the highest SA rate out of all the branches, at nearly 14% of women who serve being assaulted…and that’s only the ones who admit it on an anonymous survey. The actual figure is likely higher than that- and the officially reported assaults are of course a much *lower* percentage (due to the culture discouraging it & consequences including the risk of retaliation toward the victim by their higher-ups, etc)
