  • Amazing guide and long time friend, Brendan, showed Nicole and Mike a hidden gem, just outside of Victoria. In Goldstream Provincial Park, there is an abandoned train trestle bridge, but to get to it, you have to get through a tunnel and hike past a waterfall. Watch until the end to see Mike almost break his ankle.
    Nicole and Mike then quickly explore Canada's oldest Chinatown, in downtown Victoria, before flying back to Vancouver on a Harbour Air seaplane, thus crossing it off Mike's bucket list!
    If you're going to Victoria, make sure you have one of these: amzn.to/2o9gOd3

    My favourite part of the video was when Brendan climbed beneath the bridge, looks amazing! Also, nice job climbing that wall mate! Nicole was being such a grandma there making sure you don't get hurt, bless.

    I love old abandoned train trestles. You NEED to check out the abandoned Ladner Creek Trestle out in Hope BC. It was a part of the Kettle Valley Railway around the early 1900s. Now, all that's left of the trestle is the mainline where tracks once stood, a caved in tunnel, and the massive steel trestle in the middle of nowhere.

    I heard that the rails have not been pulled up because if the line is formally abandoned, the CPR will lose title to the land. It will revert to the province. So, the E&N just sits and crumbles.

    Okay I guess I'm the only one (or first one) to say why this video has a number of dislikes: the post editing produced some annoying glitching in the soundtrack.
    Other than that it's well done and you're all beautiful

    what you are doing is illegal. you are trespassing on private property by accessing the goldstream railway trestle. that railway and its structures are not public property. they belong to the Island Corridor Foundation

    • @DownieLive
      @DownieLive  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's good to know. It was part of the trail system in Goldstream Provincial Park, and had many other people on the bridge at the time. My intent was not to trespass, but I was out enjoying the park with friends. There were no signs indicating differently, and other visitors told us that the tracks and bridge have been abandoned and no longer have trains running along them.

    • @RossJohnsonVIA1
      @RossJohnsonVIA1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DownieLive thank you for your reply but the railway bridge is still not public property. You are one of the few TH-camrs who actually responded with honesty rather than rudeness. I am angered by this video and others like it because a young friend of mine killed him self off this bridge and I know you guys r just having fun but truly this bridge is not abandoned although trains are not running on it at the moment does not mean that you should climb all over it. There does not have to be signage near railway property to know not to walk near railway property. Anytime is train time.

      +Ross Johnson I really appreciate your comments on this, as I think it is not often known.
      I hope other viewers read your comments. Thanks again and I’ll be more aware in the future. Ignorance is not an excuse.

      DownieLive that’s not a problem. It’s good to see that you are conscious of the dangers of this activity

      @@DownieLive Good On you for the respectful response, very refreshing these days. The railroad may not be using the the tracks consistently but it's certainly not abandoned. Every once in a while the SVI will run a maintenance vehicle up and down the line to maintain a presence.
