    I have saved this game in a big old official box and 4 cd's from my dad's basement. It's such a beautifull game! This first game is also a perfect one for a tv show. What i love Aprils student house.

    • @arkham666
      @arkham666  ปีที่แล้ว

      That house and her shitty job and those friends all serve to make her such an interesting and believable character. It does make me look at my own student life with somewhat rose tinted glasses.

    It's so good to find a fellow The Longest Journey fan. I have played this game at least three times.
    There is one thing that even after so many years I still don't know: what is the use of the leaf you can get from the plant next to April's room? As far as I know it serves no purpose, but I find that quite strange.
    Also, I miss only one thing from your retrospective: you have mentioned the different characters, but no word about one of the funniest sidekicks ever: Crow. I really love this bird 😊
    Seeing that you like adventure games, I recommend you to play Syberia (the third one released barely a year ago). I will be here waiting for the corresponding retrospective.
    Btw, I uploaded some years ago the Syberia 1 and 2's walkthrough to my channel (in Spanish), which I already abandoned though.

      @arkham666  ปีที่แล้ว

      The leaf is a way of accessing some special features from the main menu. IIRC you plant it near Abnaxus's house in Marcuria. I did have to look it up in a guide to find this out.
      I'm pretty sure I got Syberia free from GoG a while back. I've been meaning to dive in and give it a try. IT looks great.

    Loved your video!
    TLJ is one of my favorite point & click games ever. I discovered the HD mod through your video and I'm definitely going to check it out. Though, I hate it that it comes with an aspect distortion, it's stretched, as I've seen in your video...

    Not only an insightful review, but really good writing too, which is just what this piece of art deserves.
    As someone who played it when I was 6 years old (you can imagine how little I could grasp at that age from all the themes that it touches lol) and learned to appreciate it even more as I got older, it's great to see someone still giving this game some love and attention. Great work.

    Very well done. I might try to make my closest friends watch it so they understand why I love this game so much, because they won't play it.

    Several false starts for TLJ, having played Dreamfall first and falling in love with it completely. I haven't even played Dreamfall Chapters, even though I bought it immediately on release to support Ragnar and Funcom. I need to go back to play it.
    Oh, and I was one of the Grandmaster pack players of The Secret World. Yes, the £200 pack. I feel I got a great deal of enjoyment out of it, but wonder to this day why is all fell apart sadly

    • @arkham666
      @arkham666  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you love Dreamfall then you'll love chapters. It's basically more of the same with a few extra mechanics thrown in and the bad combat taken out.
      My guess is Secret World fell prey to what happens with most online games. The publishers became more interested in chasing the money than the fun.

      It's not a game I played back in the day but it is one I've had my eye on. The main thing is just how long it takes to play and record capture for games like that. If the stars align I may take a swing at it but it's not a high priority right now.

I've never heard of it before I'm always down to learn about different games. I haven't played many pint and click adventure games or any unless you count TellTale games which I've always loved.

    Great vid. It is unfortunate that the seemingly unfair puzzles that defy logic might prevent people from experiencing such a unique and fantastical world. Might have been more resilient genre if it had it the same light puzzle elements and more story driven rather than puzzle driven experience such as lets say Heavy Rain and other Quantic Dream works or even something like Disco Elysium, which is like a slightly interactive book.
