Just think about the tv shows too, all costing like 200 million, and were trusted to directors with ONE CREDIT, WHY????
Star wars also has the same problem, cause I'm still wondering where all the money went with the awful dreaded acolyte if they had to cut an wookie fight. That and they keep making expensive aliens that only have one screentime cause we can't have aliens be part of the main cast like fringy said, unless they look like humans with different colors

Disney has studio mandated messages they want to support (or, rather, pretend they support). Any artistic vision is something that may interfere.
That's why they hire all those hacks. The majority of them just don't care and want to pad resume, and those who do care are just too scared for their career to do something.
And Disney is also known to cut corners as much as possible and then cut some more. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of those 200mil went into pockets of executives who may have never seen a single line of script.
It costs that much because it’s a racket. There’s no way they’re actually spending all that budget on making these shows.
Hollywood is just a big money laundering scheme...
I watched a really good video called "Disney is the worst Tech Company" which was really eye opening. a LOT of that "one time use only" technology in their parks (and almost certainly movies too) are not for the audience, they're to wow investors and Wall Street. They have no function other than to exist once to justify why the studio needs so much money.
I'm convinced this is why Wish used an in-house developed Machine Learning Neural Network program for only ONE of the effects in the movie that wouldn't have been difficult to do manually and also didn't look impressive or add anything.
It existed in the movie to justify the money for the development of the software to justify to investors why Disney needs so much money.

What’s going on with Marvel isn’t limited to them but Hollywood in general. It isn’t just the large budgets. It’s how they are utilized. Whedon famously stated that having a small or large amount of money doesn’t matter a whole lot. It’s how you use those resources. The lack of effective storyboarding and the fix it in post mentality has really hindered a lot of the MCU stuff production wise. And also not redrafting and locking scripts before shooting.
It’s like trying to write an essay without planning. Sure you could make it work but why hinge bets on it. And also the recent films haven’t looked good at all.
I remember going to see ant man 3 with a close friend of mine and his girlfriend. His girlfriend was a normie and she gripped how ugly the movie locked, calling it a worse spy kids 3.
If she’s making those remarks, then I can see others like her noticing this.
Finally, larger budgets sadly are a byproduct of middle men wanting their cut and also putting their hands in the process. Too many cooks in the kitchen and in turn ruining a potentially good thing into bad. What a mess.
This isn't even limited to just cinema either, it extends to so many other entertainment industries it's baffling. Videogames for instance.
Yeah sure, SOME AAA titles cost seemingly endless millions upon millions to produce... but it doesn't matter when the game's shit and an indie dev in his basement makes better and somehow larger-scale stuff in their basement over roughly the same amount of time. Videogames aren't getting harder or more expensive to make, it just feels that way to boards of directors due to all the mismanagement of funds and wasting time.

Whedon made 'Firefly' and 'Serenity' on a shoe-string budget ... and it was AWESOME!
They are still being talked about today, more than 20 years later ... nobody will be talking about MARVEL phase 4 and 5 twenty years from now.
Because apparently, saving the universe now costs more than the GDP of some small countries!
Had a chortle thinking to my self that yes, realistically, it would cost more than the GDP of a country to save the universe in the real world, but these people can't save their studio, let alone a single movie when armed with the same financial power 😂

@ Well, the worst-treated part of Hollywood on modern large-budget productions is VFX artists - oh, and isn't that interesting? They're the one major part of Hollywood without a union.

The second a union starts accepting management as members, it becomes its own system of corruption.
Hopefully Godzilla Minus One will encourage better use of budgets down the line.
To this day I am floored by how much I love this movie. For reference I have never been a fan of the Japanese Godzilla movies, but this one makes me a fan. Best movie of that year.

I think that Marvel should have done more genre mixing, like how Ant Man is a heist movie with guys that have powers. The Black Widow movie should have been a spy movie and been made before she died.

She's just a completely different person each time, both in the actress playing her and even the character writing, she's just an entirely alternate entity in every film, and all the characters pretend like they don't notice

I would just like to remind people that Godzilla Minus One costed around 10 million American dollars and was a thousand times better than these Hollywood blockbuster films with more than ten times the budget. It's almost like the people that made GMO actually had a clue what they were doing in terms of writing and prioritization.

Adding onto the Kang stuff they’re chatting about, I made a Quantumania review for the movie, the only thing I praised was Jonathan Majors’ performance. 💀
Their choice to pivot hard to Doctor Doom was… a choice… if they do the thing in the Secret Wars comic where Doctor Doom annihilates a bunch of the stronger villains and just repurposed the scene for Kang specifically… it MIGHT work… but they’d need to be able to take their source material seriously. They don’t.
I have faith in James Gunn’s DCU because he said they don’t green light anything until we have a script

You'd think after so many failures, Disney productions would just turn into a bureaucratic nightmare. With each movie having to go through a few hundred different people in terms of writing, budgeting, sets, actors etc. before they even start filming. Just to make it as air-tight as possible that there won't be any bloat or reshoots. Instead of just throwing money at a wall and screaming, "Lame and gay!!!"
Not just reshoots too though, as it seems like Hollywood as a whole are reaping what the sow in creating a workspace of weakness and ego. When you hear how often many of the actors and even production crew need five-star treatment constantly, or full-time therapists to deal with the trauma of being paid obscenely to fail at acting. No doubt eating even more at the budgets of the movies themselves.

2. You can't ruin a career that hasn't taken off yet.
3. A paycheck is a paycheck.
Combine these ideas, and it starts to be clear.
KK wanted to dramatically shift the entire fundamental philosophy of StarWars and chose people she knew would go down the one way franchise death road with her.
StarWars is at its purest form a traditional hero story that values religion and family, with masculine men and feminine women strong in their own ways. KK doesn't like this.
Similar story in video games. AAA is filled with bloat and wasted spending.
A good example is a Snow White the animated version all the other dwarves worked off of the same template except for dopey someone had to handcraft him every scene because he was different from the other dwarves

The thing with characters coming back to life in comics.
They usually stay dead for extended periods of time.
They don't come right back. There's usually a period of years. Not always, but usually its not as bad as coming back in the next run.
This is purely a conspiracy but I have the following theory:
The writers, producers and directors are on one team and the shareholders, businessmen and finance team are another team. The creative lot are right now making more money than they ever have in history. Producers and directors right now are off the hook millionaires and they see Marvel as money cow that can be milked non-stop with nearly a centuries worth of comics and content they can siphon off of, without actually needing any creativity.
The money team is constantly at the necks of the creative team for losing money and always looking for someone to blame and someway to turn the ship. The creative team for the last decade has been ricocheting the blame to the fans, "racist", unhinged actors and "sexists" etc.
I firmly believe that the creative teams are what are driving Marvel into the ground as producers, writers and actors take him the biggest paychecks they ever have in history.

No watch old school Disney clam shell tapes they tend to have a behind the scenes where are the people who were drawing out the characters were running almost 18-hour days but it was a labor of love

It's not that tough. They can pretty much retcon whatever they want while stealing parts of stories from other intellectual properties.

You and tons of other people, my friend. Can’t really blame him when he makes way more money from the streams, which take little to no effort compared to his scripted videos. I’m happy for his success, but I really wish he’d focus more on solo stuff.
