  • For this episode, I sat down with Sitaram Yechury, Secretary-General of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), wearing a 'borrowed' safari suit and chilled with him over lunch.
We discussed his thoughts on political violence in India, the time he was put behind bars (not just once), his thoughts on China and press freedom, what is his idea of Godmen and the attraction that Indians have towards them.
Not just that, we also discussed the time he met Fidel Castro, or when he marched with more than 500 students of JNU to Indira Gandhi's house. Presenting you the latest episode of Unfiltered by Samdish ft. Sitaram Yechury. #fullcomradevibes

Just because someone speaks with the Nukhta, doesn't makes him an intellectual. The man you're talking about is hypocrisy personified.
For just one example, he recently made a statement that "Violent films are a danger to the society"
He can't say that being one half of the duo, who literally started the trend of violence in Hindi films.
Classic Hindi films before Salim-Javed: Pyaasa, Mera Naam Joker, Mother India, Dosti, Haqeeqat. None of them are so violent.
Classic Films by Salim-Javed: Sholay, Don, Zanzeer etc. They created the "Angry Young Man" and made a living out of it and now blaming the audience for liking Animal and Kabir Singh.
Yaadon Ki Baraat by them is considered the "first masala film" in Hindi cinema.
He's not a very good poet either. Pseudo-intellectual! Best place for him to be is a retirement home in Khandala hills.

@@anandsharma7430 As a lyricist, you are allowed to do that. If I am a singer, I don't need to be sad to sing a sad song, if I am an actor, I don't have to be villainous in real life to portray a villainous role.
But when you are speaking in public as in influencer. Then, it is ethical to either own up and say, I have done this and I am not proud of it. Then criticize something. You can't criticize others for doing something which you also do.
That's the difference between a lyricist and a poet. A lyricist writes lines which invoke emotion. A poet writes lines which envoke meaning in life. He's a good lyricist, but he's no poet.
Gulzaar sahab is a poet for example, his song Naina in Omkara, if you listen..that's the crux of entire Indian philosophy be it Jainism, Budhism and Hinduism in just 4-5 lines.
All these religions say, World seen by our senses in an illusion, this illusion is the cause of all human misery.
Naino ki mat maaniyo re, naino ki mat suniyo...Naina thag lenge...says exactly that. So, that's some good poetry.

I oppose left with every iota of my life and to do that I listen them more than anyone else. And while doing so at many instances I was impressed with the way people like Sitaram Yechury table their ideas and knowledge. Undoubtedly they read more and are more knowledgeable than any of their right wing counterparts. That’s why they are still very effective even when they are in no position to match the numbers.
I’ll keep opposing them ideologically while keeping the respect at core for them as an individual.

It's not enough to just know what you oppose but deep down you need to know what you believe in too. Someone who stuck in tribalism have to defend everything under his banner without any choice, unlike a free man who can differentiate good and bad and might just change his mind when he see through things with clarity. It's always the undecided voter who maintains the essence of democracy.

As a young citizen of the country, I understand the importance of paid journalism. Hence, I'd like to continue this support to the team, so this platform is sustainable and helpful for the citizens to get unbiased information, which creates the right amount of curiosity to dig deeper and then create an own sense of opinion or ideology about, what's happening in the country.
I hope more citizens soon understand the emphasis of paid journalism and support the team financially and many more such Journalists/media entity, who rely on crowd funding/sponsorships to sustain the model and serve their initiative.
Keep up the amazing work. Real proud of the team.
