Polites is Odysseus’ best friend since childhood. They’ve been in the full 10-year Trojan war together, as well. Polites was trying to break his friend from his warrior mindset since the war ended. Unfortunately, Divine Sugar Mama wasn’t having any of it

Gigi actually re-uploaded their HATI and Just A Man animatics together as one video, and the only difference is that in that video you do actually see him let go of the baby. Cuz by then, unlike when these songs first came out, we do now have confirmation that he did in fact drop the baby.

I suggest both for "My Goodbye", Wolfythewitch then Mircsy. I like them both in different ways and they are great depictions of the song. I believe this is the case for multiple songs (for example I have 3 animatics for "Ruthlessness" in my playlist).

If it’s a human and there are background vocals, that means it has to be the other entities present… Which means his men joined him in on “When does a man become a monster?” as they fought, and he dropped the child. When you hear that reverse audio, it’s Athena pulling Odysseus into what’s called “Quick Thought”. It happens in an instant in normal time, but full conversations can happen in Quick Thought.
The baby is very much dead, yep. And there is a version of the story where his mother (Andromaca, I believe?) actually witnessed it while being restrained by the soldiers. "Full speed ahead" happens once the war is done, but I feel you the whiplash from "I'M KILLING THIS CHILD" to "Yey, I'm gonna see my wife :D" is huge

Awesome! So excited! 3 animatics that I think are especially good are: 1. Polyphemus by Mircsy - The Cyclops design is truely terrifying. 2. The Underworld by Falperio05 - There's a super sweet moment in it that I haven't seen in other animatics. 3. Legendary by Rochi - It has a lot of creative implications like Telemachus sneaking into his room and how Penelope and Telemachus need to be escorted by guards to protect them.
Besides the first, those are a ways away 😂 I do love Fal’s animatic. I’d put in Ximena’s No Longer You. It got my friend and I into the song, and just 10/10
the doubled section of the conversation with Zeus is as follows (they talk over each other so I get why you didn't catch it) Ody: I could raise him as my own ,Zeus: he will burn your house and throne, Ody: send him far away from home, Zeus: he will find you wherever you go, Ody: make sure his past is never known, the gods will make him known. Ody:I would rather bleed for you I'm on my knees for you I'm begging please, Zuse:IT IS THE WILL OF THE GODS! so yeah he already floated taking the baby as an idea and got told it wouldn't work.
What happened with athena is called quick thought (one of her abilities): She doesnt stop time per say merely makes your thoughts QUICKER. So this whole song happend in the time it took polities to throw an APPLE. A good indicator that a characters entered been brought into quickthought is that either A) the backround becomes that murky grey we saw here. Or B) it turns into a shade of blue. Though to be fair, she's goes into quick thought every time people are around oddy since she doesnt want them to know.

There are lots of motifs in this musical, so melodies will be recalled in other songs. One of the big one is the "Danger is Near" Motif, which we've actually heard a few times in this Saga already. Here’s a fun fact: every character has an instrument associated with them. Odysseus’s is the guitar (either acoustic or electric depending on his mood), Penelope has violas, Eurylochus is the voices of the crew, Polites is the drum (I forgot what the specific drum is called) and Athena is piano. You’ll notice other instruments for other character down the line as well
Yes! Such a good choice to go about this by watch per saga instead of per song. So many of them are connected and doing them separately like that can really muck up some of the more impactful moments in the story unless you have the memory of an elephant. Love that you're doing more! Keep up the good work!
The first animatic made that included Polites had him with the headband and glasses. This was based off of the singer’s appearance and to help differentiate him from the other characters. Since then animators have used the glasses and headband.
So when Jorge released "Just a man" I think it wasn't clear if Odysseus dropped the baby, so the animators did not put that in the animatics. It is later revealed thst he indeed killed the kid and I think gigi also has a new version of the animatic where its more clear
Gigi re-released some of their animatics with the remastered soundtracks. So when Gigi made the original animatic for Just A Man, no one knew for sure if the baby was dropped. The new video shows an outline of the hand opening (to let the infant drop) after the screen goes to black

I feel like I should mention that all characters in EPIC have their own instrument, so Odysseus has the guitar, Athena the piano etc. It’s a fun way to recognise them but also know what’s happening and who’s doing something! It’s also fun guessing what characters have which instruments :)
Also just a tip, for the first two sagas there is an older version from when jorge was working with a different company who wasn't giving him credit for his work so he remade them. The remakes are basically the same thing but the background vocals and instruments sound a little different you might want to watch the rest in the new versions or go back and start with the new on.

Another fun fact for ya, background vocals are diegetic, meaning that are coming from people. For example, the background vocals on ‘600 men’ are the crew joining in. Only gods and goddesses have the ability to create background vocals without other people singing those vocals. So just keep in mind that if your hearing background vocals it’s either the crew or other people joining in or it’s produced by a god/goddess.

Others have already talked about the infant so I'm just going to say that I'm very happy you're doing this! And by Saga at that-- I think that's a good choice. I'm really looking forward to your thoughts as the story progresses. The three animators you watched in this video were Gigi (pronounced gee-gee), Wolfythewitch, and Mircsy (merchy). Other big-name animators for the fandom include (though not comprehensively) Anniflamma, Ximena Natzel, Gwendy (shoot-- don't remember her channel name), and Crashite. With the Cyclops Saga, I do recommend Mircsy for Survive and Wolfythewitch for Remember Them. I personally would also go with Wolfy for Polyphemus and My Goodbye too, but I think popular opinion is Mircsy for Polyphemus. (I just find an artistic choice of Mircsy's unsettling/confusing for new fans if you start the saga out with Mircsy, though it works very well for Survive.)

Just to clarify, Warrior of the Mind is the story of how Odysseus and Athena met and became mentor/mentee (emphasis on that, not 'friends'). The whole conversation happened inside Oddyseus's mind in an instant (which you obviously realised at the end), and it was Athena's way of reminding Odysseus not to follow Polites's way of thinking ("greet the world with open arms"). My Goodbye at the end of the Cyclops saga has the same device of an instantaneous conversation between them in Odysseus's mind as well, and its used at least one other time in the series 😊
There are currently 7 sagas out actually (I forget if the most recent one was out when you posted the last one) plus a few cut songs people have been animating. I would highly recommend listening to Your Light either in a separate video before the next saga, or as the first song when you listen to the Cyclops Saga, as it was originally going to take the place of Open Arms.
I really hope you continue on with the rest of the series! It's so good, I'd love to see your reactions to a lot of the story and songs! Just please be careful, if you see any video that's less than 2 minutes long, it's likely just the 'demo', a lot of people have reacted to them rather than the full song by accident and gotten very confused!

Advice for which animatics to watch: watch ALL off Gigi's ones when they show up in the order but make sure they are full length ones cuz she sometimes does clip animatics. Something I haven't seen mentioned in the comments; this is a retelling of the Odyssey but the creator has made his own alterations to the story as he wants to tell it. I don't know what those are and I wouldn't spoil it either way, it's just something to note since you might see some differences.

It’s still quite a ways away, but somebody re-uploaded the livestream playthrough for the Wisdom Saga when you get there (I’ll probably mention this again after the other sagas since Wisdom is most recent)… You can actually watch the animatics that were commissioned by Jorge and see him reacting to his own music. It’s rather wholesome. When it’s closer to time, I’ll go back and find the person who posted it. It’s just really cool to see what he had in mind when writing the music.

WE ARE EATING VERY WELL INDEED!! There will be 9 sagas in total, 7 of which are currently out (30 out of 40 planned songs) And they're ALL of this high quality. So yes, you're in for a wild, enjoyable ride. I do love the reaction style very much btw :) This made my day. Also unfortunately not all artists have animatics for all songs per saga ... If you're looking for a playlist with all the songs in order with great animatics, I have made one! If you need a playlist, feel free to use that. when i started this musical i read the wiki summery of the story. i dont feel like it spoils in the traditional sense bc imo i think some parts of this project does rely on you knowing some details from the original and wont flat out explain to u, so i think knowing the rough outline of the story lets u appreciate some of the Easter eggs and other moments more deeply, both in the music and some of the animator's choices of depiction

in Horse And The Infant when you said someone told you there's a spicy animatic by Anni, my best guess is that's Anniflama (I forget how you write it) and it's an animatic for one of the songs of the 4th Saga/Arc. it is definitely uh spicy due to the lyrics of that song so the artist when a lil further than some others when doing the animatic. the song is called There Are Other Ways iirc and personally for that song I much prefer Gigi's animatic but Anni's is like 2nd for me it's still rly good
In the Iliad, it's not clarified who offed the baby. He was dropped from the walls, but it's not clarified if it's Odysseus, or one of the other generals. Also, the monster we see during "Full Speed Ahead" is the Scylla, not the hydra. The hydra is from Herculese' story. I actually included a scylla in the fantasy series I write... but I admit, Epic made me feel like I wasted it in a flashback. XD

"The Gods play with the lives of men" - Terry Pratchett, Gurads! Guards! This quote would work wonderfully for the role of Gods in Greek epics, especially The Illiad and The Odyssey and it explains their involvement quite well. It's also one of the reasons Odysseus kinda had to listen to what Zeus told him and couldn't do one of his other ideas. "The gods will make him know" and all that. The baby has been yeeted, but you'll never forget about it. Ody sure doesn't 😁 Technically a bit of a spoiler, but that "hydra" isn't a hydra, it's a different monster, but you'll see that in the Thunder Saga. Also the "spikey pit" isn't just ... some place, it's also a monster, one that hasn't yet been officially introduced to EPIC as that Saga hasn't been released yet. All EPIC fans/visual artists have basically mutually agreed to base the characters on the singers, so Odyseuss looks like Jorge and so on. Polites' singer wears glasses, so Polites also has glasses. I love how you heard Open Arms and immediately knew such a wholesome character couldn't have lasted 😂 Btw this song is one that potentially traumatized the whole EPIC fandom more than any other because Jorge likes to milk it for all it's worth. Athena is an owl, because that was her sacred animal in Ancient Greek - also the reason we associate them with wisdom to this day. Also, what she does when she seemingly pauses time only for her and Odysseus is called "Quick-thought", which is basically as the name says; she makes Odysseus' thinking faster than everything around him.

YES! I’ve been waiting since your first reaction video for the next one, and you put out the whole saga! Just letting you know that although Zeus and Athena are father and daughter, they work mostly independently from each other and Odysseus is solely Athena’s champion since she is the goddess of War and Zeus intervened just that once in the first song (so far? Maybe?). Anyway, for the next saga (Cyclops) I recommended whishful’s playlist since they picked out every animatic I’d rec myself, it’s another 4 songs, enjoy!
Hey, so I know that this was posted a couple days ago. But let me do a quick breakdown. Every batch of songs is called a saga. Here are all of the sagas in order Troy Saga Cyclops saga Ocean Saga Circe saga Underworld saga Thunder saga Wisdom sage (These ones have yet to be released but are coming soon) Vengance Saga Ithica Saga. The entire musical is based off of the Odyssey. And follows the main character Odysseus as he battles with gods, mythical creatures, And other monstrosities. Such as the pictures that you saw, the first one being a creature known as scylla. The pit actually being a creature called charybdis. And the final one being the eye of the Cyclops. The Cyclops is obviously found in the Cyclops saga, scylla is found in the thunder saga, and caribdis has yet to be seen but will be a main antagonist of the vengeance saga
EPIC: The Musical is loosely based on The Odyssey. Some parts got changed, some stuff changed because unknown info and mess ups. lol Which is funny to learn about. There is a bunch of Sagas but, story isn't finished just yet. Want to say a little after the middle of the story atm. Think there is a video on it by someone but long story short. He dropped the baby. Next up is the Cyclops Saga

Out of curiosity, which playlist are you using for the animatics? I personally prefer the one by SaddleBag. They update it pretty regularly, and also include a bunch of alternate animatics at the bottom of the playlist in case you wanted to check those out. That playlist also avoids the "spicy" animatic that you said someone told you about, only including it in that optional bottom section.

Awesome! So excited! 3 animatics that I think are especially good are:
1. Polyphemus by Mircsy - The Cyclops design is truely terrifying.
2. The Underworld by Falperio05 - There's a super sweet moment in it that I haven't seen in other animatics.
3. Legendary by Rochi - It has a lot of creative implications like Telemachus sneaking into his room and how Penelope and Telemachus need to be escorted by guards to protect them.
Besides the first, those are a ways away 😂 I do love Fal’s animatic. I’d put in Ximena’s No Longer You. It got my friend and I into the song, and just 10/10

What happened with athena is called quick thought (one of her abilities):
She doesnt stop time per say merely makes your thoughts QUICKER. So this whole song happend in the time it took polities to throw an APPLE. A good indicator that a characters entered been brought into quickthought is that either A) the backround becomes that murky grey we saw here. Or B) it turns into a shade of blue. Though to be fair, she's goes into quick thought every time people are around oddy since she doesnt want them to know.

Here’s a fun fact: every character has an instrument associated with them. Odysseus’s is the guitar (either acoustic or electric depending on his mood), Penelope has violas, Eurylochus is the voices of the crew, Polites is the drum (I forgot what the specific drum is called) and Athena is piano. You’ll notice other instruments for other character down the line as well

Yes! Such a good choice to go about this by watch per saga instead of per song. So many of them are connected and doing them separately like that can really muck up some of the more impactful moments in the story unless you have the memory of an elephant. Love that you're doing more! Keep up the good work!

The first animatic made that included Polites had him with the headband and glasses. This was based off of the singer’s appearance and to help differentiate him from the other characters. Since then animators have used the glasses and headband.

So when Jorge released "Just a man" I think it wasn't clear if Odysseus dropped the baby, so the animators did not put that in the animatics. It is later revealed thst he indeed killed the kid and I think gigi also has a new version of the animatic where its more clear
Gigi re-released some of their animatics with the remastered soundtracks.
So when Gigi made the original animatic for Just A Man, no one knew for sure if the baby was dropped. The new video shows an outline of the hand opening (to let the infant drop) after the screen goes to black

I feel like I should mention that all characters in EPIC have their own instrument, so Odysseus has the guitar, Athena the piano etc. It’s a fun way to recognise them but also know what’s happening and who’s doing something! It’s also fun guessing what characters have which instruments :)
Also just a tip, for the first two sagas there is an older version from when jorge was working with a different company who wasn't giving him credit for his work so he remade them. The remakes are basically the same thing but the background vocals and instruments sound a little different you might want to watch the rest in the new versions or go back and start with the new on.

Also, these last three songs are taking place AFTER the battle of Troy, so after the baby incident. Another fun fact for ya, background vocals are diegetic, meaning that are coming from people. For example, the background vocals on ‘600 men’ are the crew joining in. Only gods and goddesses have the ability to create background vocals without other people singing those vocals. So just keep in mind that if your hearing background vocals it’s either the crew or other people joining in or it’s produced by a god/goddess.

Edit: I just rewatched this and heard you talk about AnniFlamma’s spicy animatic that comes in the 4th saga for the 3rd and 4th song. When it comes to that time I recommend you watch their animatics for those songs.
Others have already talked about the infant so I'm just going to say that I'm very happy you're doing this! And by Saga at that-- I think that's a good choice. I'm really looking forward to your thoughts as the story progresses.
The three animators you watched in this video were Gigi (pronounced gee-gee), Wolfythewitch, and Mircsy (merchy). Other big-name animators for the fandom include (though not comprehensively) Anniflamma, Ximena Natzel, Gwendy (shoot-- don't remember her channel name), and Crashite.
With the Cyclops Saga, I do recommend Mircsy for Survive and Wolfythewitch for Remember Them. I personally would also go with Wolfy for Polyphemus and My Goodbye too, but I think popular opinion is Mircsy for Polyphemus. (I just find an artistic choice of Mircsy's unsettling/confusing for new fans if you start the saga out with Mircsy, though it works very well for Survive.)

Just to clarify, Warrior of the Mind is the story of how Odysseus and Athena met and became mentor/mentee (emphasis on that, not 'friends'). The whole conversation happened inside Oddyseus's mind in an instant (which you obviously realised at the end), and it was Athena's way of reminding Odysseus not to follow Polites's way of thinking ("greet the world with open arms"). My Goodbye at the end of the Cyclops saga has the same device of an instantaneous conversation between them in Odysseus's mind as well, and its used at least one other time in the series 😊

There are currently 7 sagas out actually (I forget if the most recent one was out when you posted the last one) plus a few cut songs people have been animating. I would highly recommend listening to Your Light either in a separate video before the next saga, or as the first song when you listen to the Cyclops Saga, as it was originally going to take the place of Open Arms.

Something I haven't seen mentioned in the comments; this is a retelling of the Odyssey but the creator has made his own alterations to the story as he wants to tell it. I don't know what those are and I wouldn't spoil it either way, it's just something to note since you might see some differences.

Each significant character has their own musical instrument, so definitely keep an ear out for that, see if you can figure out which ones are which! Sometimes they can change with their moods as well.
You definitely don't *need* to know the story, pretty much all the info you need should be in the show itself. There's a lot of behind the scenes and referential information, but you'll get that as it comes up from us 😊❤️
It’s still quite a ways away, but somebody re-uploaded the livestream playthrough for the Wisdom Saga when you get there (I’ll probably mention this again after the other sagas since Wisdom is most recent)… You can actually watch the animatics that were commissioned by Jorge and see him reacting to his own music. It’s rather wholesome. When it’s closer to time, I’ll go back and find the person who posted it. It’s just really cool to see what he had in mind when writing the music.

when i started this musical i read the wiki summery of the story. i dont feel like it spoils in the traditional sense bc imo i think some parts of this project does rely on you knowing some details from the original and wont flat out explain to u, so i think knowing the rough outline of the story lets u appreciate some of the Easter eggs and other moments more deeply, both in the music and some of the animator's choices of depiction
It appears I have been caught while speaking of Anni, aka Anniflamma. Just… remember their name for down the road. You definitely wont forget it if you watch their animatics in the fourth saga XD

in Horse And The Infant when you said someone told you there's a spicy animatic by Anni, my best guess is that's Anniflama (I forget how you write it) and it's an animatic for one of the songs of the 4th Saga/Arc. it is definitely uh spicy due to the lyrics of that song so the artist when a lil further than some others when doing the animatic. the song is called There Are Other Ways iirc and personally for that song I much prefer Gigi's animatic but Anni's is like 2nd for me it's still rly good
In the Iliad, it's not clarified who offed the baby. He was dropped from the walls, but it's not clarified if it's Odysseus, or one of the other generals.
Also, the monster we see during "Full Speed Ahead" is the Scylla, not the hydra. The hydra is from Herculese' story. I actually included a scylla in the fantasy series I write... but I admit, Epic made me feel like I wasted it in a flashback. XD
Mirtfi's Athena design is SO beautiful! Best version of Warrior of the mind! 👏👏So for "my goodbye" in next saga, highly suggest their animation to it 😁 Once you get to the Storm saga (so..saga after next one?) Anniflamma's Ruthlessness is a must-watch :D

This quote would work wonderfully for the role of Gods in Greek epics, especially The Illiad and The Odyssey and it explains their involvement quite well.
It's also one of the reasons Odysseus kinda had to listen to what Zeus told him and couldn't do one of his other ideas. "The gods will make him know" and all that.

Technically a bit of a spoiler, but that "hydra" isn't a hydra, it's a different monster, but you'll see that in the Thunder Saga.
Also the "spikey pit" isn't just ... some place, it's also a monster, one that hasn't yet been officially introduced to EPIC as that Saga hasn't been released yet.
All EPIC fans/visual artists have basically mutually agreed to base the characters on the singers, so Odyseuss looks like Jorge and so on. Polites' singer wears glasses, so Polites also has glasses.
I love how you heard Open Arms and immediately knew such a wholesome character couldn't have lasted 😂
Btw this song is one that potentially traumatized the whole EPIC fandom more than any other because Jorge likes to milk it for all it's worth.
Athena is an owl, because that was her sacred animal in Ancient Greek - also the reason we associate them with wisdom to this day.
Also, what she does when she seemingly pauses time only for her and Odysseus is called "Quick-thought", which is basically as the name says; she makes Odysseus' thinking faster than everything around him.

YES! I’ve been waiting since your first reaction video for the next one, and you put out the whole saga! Just letting you know that although Zeus and Athena are father and daughter, they work mostly independently from each other and Odysseus is solely Athena’s champion since she is the goddess of War and Zeus intervened just that once in the first song (so far? Maybe?). Anyway, for the next saga (Cyclops) I recommended whishful’s playlist since they picked out every animatic I’d rec myself, it’s another 4 songs, enjoy!

The entire musical is based off of the Odyssey. And follows the main character Odysseus as he battles with gods, mythical creatures, And other monstrosities. Such as the pictures that you saw, the first one being a creature known as scylla. The pit actually being a creature called charybdis. And the final one being the eye of the Cyclops. The Cyclops is obviously found in the Cyclops saga, scylla is found in the thunder saga, and caribdis has yet to be seen but will be a main antagonist of the vengeance saga

EPIC: The Musical is loosely based on The Odyssey. Some parts got changed, some stuff changed because unknown info and mess ups. lol Which is funny to learn about.

Out of curiosity, which playlist are you using for the animatics? I personally prefer the one by SaddleBag. They update it pretty regularly, and also include a bunch of alternate animatics at the bottom of the playlist in case you wanted to check those out. That playlist also avoids the "spicy" animatic that you said someone told you about, only including it in that optional bottom section.
There's currently 7 sagas (out of 9 planned I think?), and the eighth one will come out before December!
