This hit me square in the numbers, because I am that MFA guy who self publishes, offers comix and zines programs at the local library, and supports creators. Jim and Ed no doubt have encountered dudes aplenty like me, guys who have plied their trade as educators, who have never been able to live off their comix work but wish they could. Ed’s 100% correct- learn from the masters, the ones who have been doing it professionally for decades. That’s why I pump up the library’s awesome collection, highlighting the greats. Like Levar Burton sez- don’t take MY word for it! Amazing stuff!

Good stuff! I love Jaime's work. I am DYING to try out that 8 point spacing tool for perspective! It looks like a dream come true. I love drawing figures, but HATE drawing buildings. So unless I draw Tarzan comics, I'm gonna have to draw buildings. I wanna check out your other vids and comics.

I grew up getting into Fantagraphics stuff pretty early so stuff like this, Jim Woodring and the Stan Sakai stuff has been great. I really do miss a lot of the indie comics stuff we had in the 80s and 90s.
You guys make it easy to support your work. I enjoyed the hulk grand design, and all of the red rooms so far a lot. Thanks.

Definitely! Almost all the books, tutorials etc talk about the U.S. system of assuming that different people will do each task- penciling, inking etc. separately. When you're a lone cartoonist you can do those tasks in whatever order works for you!

They came to the comicbook store I worked at when they did their 10th anniversary tour! I had no idea what to say to them and probably came off as some idiot.
I did the same when I met them at a convention. I had them sign some books and my head was full of so much to ask , but I ended sounding stupid. 🤣
Felt the same way meeting , Frank Miller, Barry Windsor Smith, Geoff Darrow. After watching Kayfabe for some time now I feel I’d have some good conversations with them.
