Thank you so much for the shout out and kind words, and it was extremely cool to bump into you and meet in person. It made the days adventure and hunt that much more awesome!
I'll be subbing your channel next man, nice work
@@andreworr4307 thank you very much and i hope you enjoy the future content!
That is such a great story about Ben getting in contact with Dave’s sister Jen. Dave’s art was so spectacular to me. When I first saw it as a teenager I would pick up any book he drew. How can you not? And what a great store. I will have to travel up there and dig through those boxes. Congrats!
Enterprise Etc is definitely one of the better comic stores in New England. I first stopped by the store in the Fall, loved the experience and raved about it to my wife. So this past weekend, we returned to Keene specifically to shop at Enterprise… traveling from Connecticut to New Hampshire.
That's a lot of dice at the start of the video, I didn't know they come in so many colours and iterations.
Nestor Redondo did a good deal of work on DC's Bronze Age Horror anthologies as well as inking many Conan stories, especially in the b/w Savage Sword Of Conan. "The New Funny Book" is quite hard to find, an Indie from 1977 when Independents had very little distribution.
Steranko and SHIELD, what a great match. His work is always fascinating. Gothic was huge in the late 60s/early 70s thanks to the success of the tv series "Dark Shadows".
After Pacific Comics collapsed, Eclipse picked up their SF and Horror anthology titles.
Dave Stevens' writing and art have not aged at all, his work is timeless.
If your able to get the magazine 'Back Issue', from TwoMorrows Publishing, #47 from April 2011 it features Dave Stevens final interview. Great article. If you can not find it you may can contact the publisher and get a digital copy of it. Really cool how his drawing of comics also crossed into working on movies in Hollywood.
I like that King Kong book. I never saw that one before.
Love seeing books that aren't the "norm". And you find some good ones. 😊
On your recommendation I took a 35min trip to this store. Small store but good use of the limited square footage. They have a lot of older comic book back issues, but I found them to be pricey!
Obtaining that X-Men book that folds out is pretty cool I have yet to see that before. The store itself it’s organized but to call store beautiful I don’t know. When I go to a comic shop I want comic books I don’t need all the other fluff that comes with some of these high scale places. But for you, it’s nice to have items that you are looking for nearby.
You might like other UK comics from the 60s that reprinted Marvel stories, namely Terrific, Pow!, Wham! and Smash! All good, but the latter three were mainly UK art, with occasional Marvel, while Fantastic and Terrific were mainly, or completely, Marvel and the best thing was the back cover was usually a full page colour pic of a character. Well worth collecting as they still don’t go for huge amounts.
Great video. I love Dave Stevens work because his style looks so different from the era he drew in but they are so hard to find here in the southeast. The Airboy cover he drew is so cool and is one of my favorite positions.
The evolution of your wall is amazing! I remember what it looked like when you began. Very impressive in such a short time. Congrats man.
You got back to adding a few more Dave Stevens cover to the PC. Love all his good girl art . One of my favorite non girl art he did was a Hellboy pinup in Hellboy Weird tales 7 , would love to see the re use that as a future. Being in MA , love your channel. It’s helps me find some new spots to hunt.
Mike! You’ve been anointed by the Steven’s family trust. I wonder what other comic artists, writers, etc. know about you and your channel. I’m sure stan and Jack are smiling down on you as well. All the best!
Haha I certainly wouldn’t go that far, I’m still a nobody in the hobby and I’m just happy to have all of you viewers along for the ride!
@@lunchmoneycomics well you mean something to us and we know you appreciate. Cheers!
@lunchmoneycomics Hey it just dawned on me that Popeye comic that you have our had from your uncles collection oh and daffy do you still have them ? They are my hero thank you & have a nice day 😊 & I love your channel ❤️ 💕
Nice books love Stevens also. That Store was one of the coolest I've seen. Also you get extra cool points Just knowing who Driz is
Nice you double his subs. Very nice of you to do that for him.
Obviously, I'm a fan of the normal pick-ups and such...but Mike, I LOVE that you raise up the other creators you meet!! This is hands down my favorite TH-cam channel... there's just nothing I don't thoroughly enjoy!!!
Aw thank you so much!
@@lunchmoneycomics No...thank YOU, Mike. Tons of channels out there, this one's unique and something to be proud of. I absolutely love this place.
Love the unexpected Dave Stevens story! It's a small world for sure 🚀
Mike a bit of additional information on the FANTASTIC British comic. As an English kid Marvel and D.C comic collector in the 60s I switched to the comics FANTASTIC and it's sister publication TERRIFIC as a way of getting continuity in Marvel storylines. Let me explain, in England in the 1960s our Marvel and D.C comics were delivered to our favourite newsagents randomly. You had to buy what you could. Back copies were not so hard to find as where I lived there was a good secondhand book shop where you could buy or trade your used comics. The more these comics got traded the more the store covered the covers with stamp prints.
Thanks for the great info!!!
I might find a Dave Stevens cover maybe once or twice a year. You found all his covers in one day lol.
That King Kong movie adaptation book is really cool. Never saw those before. 👍🏻
Great finds great friends great Stevens awesome nice pick ups maybe on day you'll mention my channel lol
That's a great looking shop! And you picked up some classic Dave Stevens beauties!
Good show I like the Nick fury book the most. I like space covers too.
cool haul and awesome comic shop I would love to go sometime take care my friend
N8ce to see the Dave Stevens titles, especially Alien Worlds..had a few issues myself back I bother late 80s...for something similar suggest you track down an indie series called Hilly Rose, some great covers..
Hey Mike, awesome comic book store. It has the best of both worlds of comics and games. It's nice you're doing the Nick Fury run. I'm going to check out conlins channel. I got some comics this past weekend. I got Swamp Thing #61 through #64 , Howling Commandos of S.H.I.E.L.D #1, The House of Mystery Super DC Issue, The House of Secrets #104,#108,#110 ,#113,#114,#125,#128, and #130, and lastly Uncanny X-men #172. Something about the DC horror art work I find really cool. Well Keep up the good hunt Mike and keep on making great videos.
Awesome comic shop! You got some amazing books.
Very rad shop! Always fun going hunting with a buddy.
Cool pop up book. 😊
I think or it seems that Starenko was under influence of acid during the Nick Fury run. Those covers are groovy/trippy. Now i've seen partialy the interiour i'm quite sure about it. Personally i would always go for the highest grade when it fits in the budget. With higher grades it's easier to get at least your money back imo.
That’s awesome
Great video today Mike!!should we make t-shirts for your viewers that say "If Ben Can Do It, I Can Do It!"?
Thanks for comic hunting with me and just hanging out in general, it was really fun!
Great video! Man that Enterprize store looks just like one I go to by me, Games Plus in the Chicago area. All gaming no comics though. And dangit Mike! Being an art guy, you sold me on that Nick Fury series. The art in the books looks incredible especially compared to everything else out at the time. Adding that to my wish list now.😁
That’s the shop I go to!! They are awesome!
Tell them I say hi next time you are in!
Rocketeer Trust approved....Awesome!!!!! I never tire of Dave Stevens content. Thank you once again!
Ben! Freedom Edge is a blast to read. Highly recommended!
Nick fury 3 is similar to batman 227 when you look at them together.
Absolutely, great comparison
Awesome content as always! Steranko is going to be at Little Giant show in Concord, NH. Cant wait!
I know I’m excited too!
I love those steranko covers 2. I bought issue 6 and fell in love with the cover art. Nick fury in space...no brainer. Nice pickups mike
That King Kong series is amazing. Covers are stunning but Don Simpson story and art is a 👨🍳 💋 love the vids Mike!
Steranko is such an amazing man! I had such a great conversation with him. Hey Mike, did you happen to see any UK Avengers books in that box?
Hmmm I don't remember seeing any Avengers
@@lunchmoneycomics I have issues 2-9 and I love them. I am always looking for more!
From the UK so that's gonna be a problem for me getting there 😆. Wish we had comic stores like that over here. Recently got my 1st slab, and it was uncanny xmen #207 in a 9.4, not complaining at 9.4 for the price I paid but excited for my 1st slab the arrive. Anyway once again I'm still here still watching and enjoying your content. Cheers Mike 👍🏻
Another good comic day Mike. It's always great getting your hands on a comic you heard of but had not seen. Loved the King Kong comic. Thanks for telling us the story about Dave Stevens artwork, and your friend connecting with his sister, who manages his trust. It's been interesting watching that story unfold during your updates.
Ah that’s cool! I love Conlin’s shows where he does big runs of classic DC. Been following him for a month or so. Fun stuff, and very cool for you to give him a shout out.
It's awesome you meet Conlins, he's a great guy and love his channel. Also, another great haul, and love seeing the different shops you visit.
Thank you! I’m glad I let him too
Amazing pick ups. I'm looking for the Steranko Nick Fury issues too. Check out the Marshall Rogers Detective Comics run. He's another amazing artist that doesn't get enough credit for his body of work. Keep the content coming!
Maybe it's just me but the art in that gothic horror shield book seems very like some of the art in sandman ,? Especially that double page spread, maybe an influence on sandman,? What do you think Mike ? Possible or am I losing it ,lol ?
Yeah I can see it a bit, probably coincidence but the style definitely lends itself to the creepy vibes of both
excellent
Dang! I need to move to New England. Great looking shop! 10:28 - so you're saying that comic book collecting is an infectious disease? Sounds about right. LOL
That story is pretty crazy!
Those CGC prices were super cheap, pretty much same price they would on ebay, but raw copies.
Great story love that shield book. Keep up the great content
Great video and awesome finds again man! Keep up the good work!
Pop up book was the best pickup, only because I’m a huge gimmick comic collector
definitely going to check out this store sometime soon. Looks like a cool store.
Dayum, those brit mags were dirty cheap
are those Fantastics book black & white meaning they took the color original and desaturated it into grey tones for printing or they took the original kirby inked pages and printed the uncolored versions of the pages? (that would be super exciting to see if they are pure kirby ink pages!)
I was trying to figure that out myself. It looks like it's original ink to me but I can't be sure. No grey tones.
I have issue 6 if you need
I got Alien world #4 for a dollar
been following your channel for a while now and love the hunting for comics in strange and unusual places you do, i also have a comic youtube channel if ya feel like checking it out and giving me your opinion on it.
I’ll check it out!
Thanks!!@@lunchmoneycomics
