Thank you so much for this information, I made water based body oil using polysorbate 80 yesterday and I didn't like the consistency because I used too much polysorbate 80. I'll make a new batch soon using this information. Thank you again
Hi! I'm trying to make a hair oil but don't know how to use polysorbate. While your video cleared things up to an extent, I still have questions. Should I use polysorbate 20 or polysorbate 80 for hair oil. Thank you for the informative video.
polysorbate 20 is for the essential oil in your oil while polysorbate 80 is for the carrier oils. If you have both essential oil and carrier oil, you will use the 2 polysorbates. Watch the video for more. There is another video for polysorbate 20 on the channel. Watch both to know the amount to use.
Thank you so much for this information, have been looking for a way to bind my water and oils together in my oil formulations…I have always known waxes to do the tricks for creams and lotions but for Oils I just was not getting it but thank you so much will try working with this
But in this video you used 12 percent of Polysorbate 80. If I want yo make leave on facial oil in water emulsion , how much polysorbate 80 will be needed?
what do you think of this formula to leave on for hair : 5 % essential oil 1% tocopherol acetate 1% polysorbate 80 10% polysorbate 20 up to 100% with water
Hallo, Iknow Iam 1 yr late, but thank you for sharing this info,my question is, if Iam making a 8oz leave in hair conditioner, did you mean the polysorbate 80 should be 2% of the 8oz(226g) or did you mean 2%of the oil quantity I will be using, thankyou once again, I hope to here from you.
IT will be 2% of your formulation. Formulation is made in percentage so you need to learn how to convert your percentage to grams. Watch more videos on the channel to learn this effectively.
Hi. I am yasmin from Bosnia. I have been trying to use the water-soluble extract in the oil phase for a long time. I experimented with polysorbate 80, propylene glycol, hydrozine castor oil, polysorbate 20. It mixes at first, but after waiting, the extract sinks to the bottom again. What should I do?
Use polysorbate 60 or 80 not polysorbate 20. Add polysorbate 80 to your oil phase first, add proper amount, then after that, include your extract. For more advanced formulation support, join me at stablecosmeticformulas.com
Are you trying to solubilize a fragrance oil or carrier oil? For fragrance, use polysorbate 20, for carrier oils, use polysorbate 80. If nothing is working, try another solubilizer or mix thoroughly.
@@greenbeautychemist. thank you for your response. I tried with fragrance oil with mixture water with alcohol. 20 is much thicker creamy. 80 is creamy but not like 20. Can you suggest what is the best solubizers to mix to get clear texture?
Mam is polysorbate 80 used for making non diary whipping cream which r used fr icing or decorating over cakes nd if yes thn hw much amount of polysorbate 80 is used in non diary whipping cream
Hi would it be ok to use Polysorbate 80 with a mix of coconut oil and essential oil? What will be a good mixing ratio to mix all 3 of them for making good bath salt?
Polysorbate 80 is for carrier oils like Coconut oil while polysorbate 20 is for essential oil. Use it in ratio 1 to 1. For 50g of coconut, add 50g of polysorbate 80.
so just to clarify: if I'm using 50ml sweet almond oil or coconut oil as my base, then I should include whatever 5-10 percent is of 50 ml when I'm adding in the polysorbate 80 before I mix in my mica powders and essential oils, correct?
Please Ma if I may ask,I already have a oil product on ground that I have actually formulated and this oil actually contains water,is it possible for me to still use Polysorbate 80 to bind them together???if yes how can I go about that??? And if No does it mean I have to measure out my carrier oik seperately before I now go in with my Polysorbate 80 then add my water based ingredients???
I'm doing a research with essential oils and I want to solubilise it ... Will this technique work with essential oils too or do I need to change the concentration?
Yes it all depends. If you have carrier oil you want to dissolve in water and also have an essential oil or fragrance you want to mix with water, you can use both. Otherwise, there is no need.

If I have to add essential oil...do I need to add polysorbate 20 also again.. or polysorbate 80 is enough for both carrier oil and essential oil
Hi just wondering you put 5g or oil and added 1% of polysorbate. Why is the 1% 1g of 5g? Thank you :)
This was my exact confusion! 1g to 5g is a 20% solution and in the end she made it a 40% solution adding 1 additional gram....

Use polysorbate 20. Polysorbate 80 is meant for solubilizing carrier oils
If I wanted to do 16 Oz. Of light body oil. Using sesame seed oil, almond oil & some prickly pear seed oil. How would you suggest amounts please?

You didn't use enough polysorbate. Use it in ration 1 part oil, 1 part polysorbate 20
@@greenbeautychemist. thank you for your advice. Same ratio I applied. But on the top white creamy is appearing. Can you a give a solution plz?

*5-10 percent worth of polysorbate 80

You will have to start all over. You can add polysorbate 80 to an already formulated product.
@@greenbeautychemist. thanks for the feedback Ma,do mean I can’t add Polysorbate 80 to an already made finished product?
So how much polysorbate 80 to solubilize how much oil in o/w emulsion?
Can i mix tween 80 with Fragrance oil to make it water soluble
It is meant to solubilize carrier oils and not FO. You can give it a try
Suppose if we take 25% vegetable fat and 10%of sugar thn what will b the required %fr adding polysorbate 80 in it as a stabilizer
Can I use this for avocado oil?
You can use any carrier oil of your choice.
Would you use polysorbate 80 and 20 in a end product?
From what I understand, polysorbate 80 is for heavier oils and polysorbate 20 is for lighter oils like essential oils
I'm doing a research with essential oils and I want to solubilise it ... Will this technique work with essential oils too or do I need to change the concentration?
polysorbate 20 is for essential oil.
@@greenbeautychemist. thank you for replying. Can I use the same proportions as mentioned in the video ?
Can we mix polysorbate 80 with 20 in the same product?
Yes it all depends. If you have carrier oil you want to dissolve in water and also have an essential oil or fragrance you want to mix with water, you can use both. Otherwise, there is no need.
You’re the best, thanks a lot 😩❤️
You're welcome!
How will you know that you don't have enough?
Phase separation
Carrier oil 5gm
Polysorbate 80 2gm
Water 10 gm
I follow a 1 part poly sorbate 80 to 2 parts oil and add to bath salts, but still get floating oil and a ring in the tub. Any suggestions?
Use 2 part poly 80 to 2 part oil. You should use equal part of both.
is it foamy?
no

Btw,please can more polysorbate be added to the mixture if it's not solubilizing?
No it not recommended to add more. The recommended usage rate is all you need.
How can you dissolve 2% of rosehip oil to tween 80?
You can use poly80 to solubilize carrier oil in water.
Love ur content
Thanks
you forgot the preservative
This is a demonstration.
@@greenbeautychemist. I know but anything with water in it will be attacked by bacteria, people need to know how important that is not to happen
Its 5:1 ratio
wow

You should have received a reply
@@greenbeautychemist. I haven't, that's ok
Can it be used to make body lotion?
Yes but you don't need a solubilizer when you are using emulsifier for your body lotion.
