  • I'm in a tight spot pulling out geodes and crystals one after the other. They started small and got bigger and bigger. We even crack a geode and was amazed to find a smokey quartz multi directional crystal cluster. Hard digging but so much fun.

    Hi Liz how did you learn all about crystals? Is there a book you can recommend ?

    • @LizKreate
      @LizKreate  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I read lots of books, magazine and online research. It all started with The Australian Gem & Treasures magazine. We had a monthly subscription. Then I bought books on different mineral identification. These are old books and needed updating. Nowadays, there are plenty of books on the subject matter and even free online articles. But my go to book is called "A Field Guide in Colour to MINERALS, ROCKS AND PRECIOUS STONES" by Dr. Jaroslav Bauer Photographs by Frantisek Tvrz. 🥰

    Wonderful stuff ! Am subbed but with crises in the world had not seen your vids in a while. I am in NYC and was wondering, is MOORALLA an Aboriginal name ? I was once saw an episode of FARSCAPE, an Aussie Sci Fi series I *LOVE* and Virginia Hey once played a role as "MOORALLA". Can you clarify ?

    • @LizKreate
      @LizKreate  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure of the origin of the name but I think it might have originated from an Edgar Allan Poe story named "Morella" and someone came up with the name "Mooralla" to name this town where the crystals are found. Take care. Cheers, Liz

    go by your local craft supply store and pickup some clay molding tools, they are light weight, pocket size and great for digging into that clay without damaging the stones. I also i have a plastic trowel but it might not be suitable for that heavy clay.

    Great to see your new adventure but I really worry about you both when you’re working in these pits. My great concern is that when you’re in these pits, anything deeper than 1.5mtrs is extremely dangerous and needs to be reinforced as its very unsafe and that’s why there is safety legislation. At anytime the walls could collapse and anyone in the pit would injured by the walls collapsing. Especially when it has been raining. Being predominantly clay this makes the risk just as high. Plus if you’re using a ladder it must be also 1mtr above ground level for your safety. Beautiful people you have to realize that if either one of you are injured in the pit, how on earth are you going to get out safely. Where you were sitting Liz was extremely dangerous as there is no way Wall could save you if it collapses. The only reason I am telling you this is because I have had to deal with the death of 2 workers who were trapped in a trench/pit collapse that was only 2ntrs deep. I don’t want to spoil your fun but I do care deeply for you both and your safety. Nothing is worth your lives...Please please be careful and stay safe xx

    • @LizKreate
      @LizKreate  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Marie, Sorry to hear that you have to deal with such a tragedy. We have been doing this for a very long time and quite often the video makes it look more dangerous than it actually is. We do not undercut banks which is the main cause of collapse and unfortunately this type of hobby does not come with a small amount of calculated risk. Thanks very much for your concern and hope everything's great your way. Cheers, Liz

    Hi Liz do we need a permit or permission to get these crystals and geodes?

    • @LizKreate
      @LizKreate  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want to fossick in Victoria, you need a current fossicking permit known as a miner's right. A Miner's right allows you to remove and keep minerals discovered on Crown Land, your own land or private land (where the landowner has given permission).
      A 10-year miner's right costs $25.20 and is for individuals only (not businesses). You can purchase a miner's right online or through an agent.
      Children under the age of 18 years do not need a license when accompanied by an adult holding a Miner’s Right.
      Make sure you follow the fossicking rules on where you can prospect and how you are expected to care for the environment.
