kinda makes me glad the stuff me and a bunch of other people were doing in fl studio with beepmap way back in 2008 has such a similar vibe to this genre now. although ours was more shoegaze/fever dream

@@LuciSheppyLivethat isn't what botanica is ❤️🩹 it was supposed to be music that uses a lot of acoustic instruments like guitars and pianos and it was supposed to give nature vibes (think phritz, who kinda spearheaded the formalisation of the genre), but then youtube turned it into something that uses a lot of FFT and is basically what you just said. so youtube "botanica" is kind of its own genre that should have its own name i will clarify, this isn't me saying "ermm botanica was more authentic in the good old days of like two years ago 😢😢 until the SOUND DESIGNERS destroyed it..m😢" i just wanted to clear smth up :goodvibes:

they are calling this Botanica these days but it remembering hearing this stuff back in early 2010s under the element perspective record label from guys like Serph and Ametsub Earliest reference I can recall is Sora and his album re:sort from back in 2003 which has elements of this sound I think today this "Botanica" is just a hyper version of these earlier guys where the music was ambient leaning whereas today you have folks like yourself, phritz -- Tennyson even -- infusing even more influences into this sound landscape sound, sound collage, Botanica, electronica --- its taken many names over the years if anything, today we are in a renaissance of this sound :)
