I agree, if you want a modem phone with modern features one should be looking at flagship Android devices. Go with Apple if you want more of the same, not bad but certainly nothing ground breaking.
If upgrading from SE 2020 I would go 16 Pro. If you have Verizon, any trade in for a Iphone 16 special. If you had a Iphone 15, I would say hold off to next year
