As she bursts onto the music scene with her debut single ""Whip My Hair,"" young Willow Smith, daughter of Will & Jada Smith, joined Ryan Seacrest on his radio show to discuss her plans for her budding music career. Just before the interview it was officially announced that Jay-Z had signed Willow to his record label, and called in to talk about his plans for her.

When they compared her to MJ I don't believe they meant by style and definately not by personality but there's something genuine about her. An innocence. Not because she's a child but something that makes her very different and special. I love MJ and she's not MJ but she's a star.

she's beautiful and in this interview, she sounds very intelligent for a 9 yr old that doesn't go to school often due to her lifestyle.
I'm waiting on Willow to shut everyone's mouth, I've heard her new music(she's 14 now) and she's great, she's got a different vibe and nothing like in the industry right now, her voice matured a lot since this, plus her lyrics are very poetic and she writes them herself.
I know she's still 13, but she'll be 14 on october.

she's talented for sure, but nowhere near as talented or comparable to Michael Jackson. Michael achieved so much by the time he was her age and continued to break records and be at the top of his game all his life. Willow....eh, not there yet.

He was saying that he imagines that her personality, the way she knows just who she is and what she wants out of life is how he imagines Michael was when he was young, He was not comparing their talents or songs. Besides, once you get past the mind-numbing but catchy "I whip my hair back and forth" part that makes up the chorus, you'll find that the song actually does have lyrics.

@CioCoc The point is that she doesn't have the raw talent Michael Jackson had when they were both the same age; nothing to do with experience. That's not to say that she is without talent though. She is cute and confident, and she can develop her voice and become a very good singer as it's already quite strong. But when you compare her singing to Michael singing Who's Lovin You at the same age, there really is no comparison.
