- The Rainbow Road is the final course in every Mario Kart game. Aside from having great music, the course is also well-known for being quite difficult to master. In this episode of 'Evolution of Gaming' we're going through all incarnations of the Rainbow Road from Super Mario Kart to Mario Kart 8.

I've always adored Rainbow Road. To me, It was always a big "Thanks for playing!" Track, where they go all out. It's usually the most complex and difficult track, saved right at the end of the other tracks.
And It couldn't be any better. It's the perfect way to end any Mario Cart game. The music is upbeat, the stakes are at the highest, and the entire atmosphere oozes joy, and fun. And with the fireworks, again It's like an interactive credits scene, at least to me.

Yes it is awesome and I will hack My copy of MK 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch and have other vehicles and weapons or known as items to other Mario Kart players just to make you other players jealous of me.

Was anyone else really disappointed with Mario Kart 8s rainbow road? I always thought the whole essence of the rainbow road was minimal walls, narrow roads and sharp turns to make it hard to not fall off. I feel like MK8 rainbow is just another track

Rainbow Road 64 in Mario Kart 8 makes me cry everytime I see it. The nostalgia is too strong with that one.

I find the Wii version of Rainbow Road to be the hardest, but also the most fun. I've been playing Mario Kart for around 8 years now, and I've gotten to be really good at it. It's not even the entire track for me, it's the set of turns right after the two holes (before the cannon-star), because around 30% of the time I turn too sharply and fall off, sending me really far back in races or making me lose mushrooms and time in time trials. Also, the best music to me is by far the music in the Wii version, with the Mario Kart 8 SNES Rainbow Road remake in second.

Plub 64: The reason it's in the video is because that track was inspire by Mario Kart 64's Rainbow Road. Take a look again and it's pretty much the same layout.
it's because the track layout for the f-zero one is the same as the Mario Kart 64 one.
My fave is Wii's Rainbow Road. But the difference between the N64 Rainbow Road and the Wii U remix of the N64 Rainbow Road is so noticeable...

I do. I love it. every day, I race and continue to improve my time. Acceleration is key in this course for a fast time.

N64 was my jam yo, I was so happy to see a tribute in the newest Mario kart
The N64 Rainbow Road was by far the best one. It was first and foremost a endurance track, and while it doesn't have the extra bells and whistles of the later ones, it was still visually impressive.

I remember when I was at school once and someone did a charity event by bringing in mario kart double dash. I remember once he put on rainbow road and counted every time someone fell. Out of the 4 of us, I was the only one who played this game and didn't fall off once. I can't remember exactly but I know the count went into the 40's by the time the race ended.
I love Rainbow Road because of the high risks, especially since I always take the fastest paths.
And in my opinion, MKWii has the most fun rainbow road, MK8 has the best looking one, and MKDS was the most memorable

This video made me realize what was off about MK8 N64 Rainbow Road. They divided the course into three laps. I always felt it was too short. This was the reason why. (Still like the music and look of it.)
Ace They did it so that the course could look almost the same, while also shortening the track by making it a point a to point b course (like Mount Wario), though it looks like it still loops around.

Mario Kart Wii was, and still is, the best Mario Kart game out there. I'm speaking without nostalgia and anyone who contradicts me will be judging their "better" games by using their nostalgia to make it sound so much more better than it really is.
Also they totally destroyed Rainbow Road in all post-Wii Mario Kart games. The Rainbow Road from Wii is the most challenging and has the best music.

I'm more fascinated by how this person dominated the rainbow road without falling off than I am with the actual evolution of this course.
Over the last 30 years we have seen many spectacular rainbow roads starting from the Super mario Kart to mario Kart 8. These tracks were especially famous in the mario kart franchise appearing in every game. These tracks have many memories with N64 and it’s length and music while mario kart 7 Is of the best ever. We also saw retro tracks in many games and we hope Nintendo can keep up these memorable and good tracks

Seeing all these kids saying the double dash and the wii version brings back memories, really makes me feel old. Rainbow Road on the 64 will always be my Rainbow Road.
To he honest, Mario Kart Wii is my favorite. It's design is gorgeous, it's music is great, and it's a fun but challenging course.

Fun fact: Mariokart 8's version of the Nintendo 64 Rainbow Road edited the exact layout of the track towards the end partially so that a giant 8 very similar to the game's logo is present on the map of the track.
