  • Here is a Joyner 800 series with a broken CV joint on the LH axle shaft. I simply replace the left rear CV shaft assembly. Recorded with my EVO 4G

    It's a pretty cool ride and I have heard these have been breaking a lot. There hasn't been any problems with the replacement parts. I believe it has been redesigned to strength. A limit strap would be a great idea for preventive measures.

    I have over extended one (cause of a lift kit I made and was takin off rightaway) and snapped another because i was on wet grass and transisioned to dry dirt. Both my fault and and replaced. Mine is a 09 800cc mini viper turbo charged about 5psi on pump gas with maxxis bighorns all the way around. I ride mine hard on my farm doin fast turns and all out mashin through disked rockey fields. No problems at all. How would I put limiting straps on? Should I do it even though I never intend to jump?

    this is a simple matter of over extanding the cv past it's maximum angel! I race these bad boys twice a month in rally raid 4 hrs endurance races in the southeast and theres not hardly anything that i haven't had to look at or redo on these bad boys to mak'um rock. Be careful on your limit straos and keep watch on'um they will stretch as much as 1 1/2"

      If you still around. Do you know the dimensions on the hub seal. The one between. The end of the cv axle and the hub.

    That's a great idea! The steering feels a lot looser when on pavement, so more of a street tire should help it handle better on the road!

    It my opinion, the reason this axle failed was just a poor quality part. I thought it could have been over extended, but I then would expect to find the boot to be torn or off, and it wasn't. They are cool, but they are a little unstable on a good flat ground.

    I have the same exact joyner as you :D & the same exact thing happen to me:(! I didn't get what you did since you kinda blocked the camera view. Where you able to get the rear CV shaft assembly from a local auto part store or joyner dealer? Is it hard to do?

    from the damage you saw on this repair.. what is your opinion on how it broke? ....was the ring broken?...(possibilities are over extension, ovetorque/bad design, over heating due to high angle).i want to prevent it from happening on my joyner 800... after puttign limiting straps if my joyner breaks an axle again, im selling it.

  • @zj4041
    @zj4041 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the same buggy (09 joyner 800 mini viper) . I broke my axle the same way in the dunes at max articulation up hill. I put in a limiting strap, I hope this never happens again. ( since then, ive jumped the buggy and rode the heck out of it, no problems so far..... Whats your experience with this axle?

    I dont think electric vehicle will overtake cars for many years. Battery capasity is not even close to what it should be for an electric car. I'm guess that we will see fiber optics in cars before then!

    Dude, you are blocking the camera on the critical part of this. No one can see you remove the axle from the gearbox. That's the tricky part.

    Man that was the worst video ever sorry to sound like a troll but right when you went to actually replace it you skip to putting the tire back on?? I watch that video hoping to see what the shaft inside looks like that you hook the axle to.. do you have a video about that part?
