Haha they were indeed. They had been dropped off and when I got home and saw them I was like WTH is this stuff. LOL I had to call the guy up to find out what I was dealing with. All good in the end though.
Thanks so much my friend. I was really happy with the outcome. Sadly the video was not the best due to a bad auto ISO setting....won't make that mistake again. Oh well.
Great work! I just used acetone to strip some of the color out of a previously Olive Allen Edmond cap toe. The coloration looks very similar to this shoe. It's basically grey with olive undertone. I was hoping to do a medium tan shoe with darker brown patina. Should I even attempt it? I'm worried that the color left over (Olive) won't allow the new tan color to look uniform. I think I've striped the color down as far as it will conceptually go. Could I hassle you for some advice? Thanks
@@mbshoedoc Thanks, I definitely plan to buy a pair of lighter brown Allen Edmonds to do a patina on as well. I just had had these Olive ones that are starting to look worse for the wear. So I figured I'd experiment a little. I actually ended up going with Fiebings Medium Brown and the color turned out well. I was halfway to a marbled patina, when I didn't allow the acetone to dry long enough, I used Bick #4 Leather conditioner and stripped nearly my whole patina off. Bummer. It's ok, I'll Bob Ross it... I actually addressed this at 15:05 . I could have done the conditioning first and typically do. No particular reason or benefit to doing it the way I did it here. It's just how I did it this time and it worked out just fine I felt. On this pair I was using the tinted creams almost like a dye to color the leather and the dry leather seems to absorb more color. This was quite a while ago now though so I can't honestly say if that was my thought process or not.
I'm pausing your video just as you are bringing out the green cream polish, to make this comment: You could have used a little pill bottle or something to spoon in some of that green and a little brown, mix well and wahlah, a rich olive green to apply consistently to the pair. My favourite colour but do you think I can find a pair of shoes I like in olive? No can do.
That's would be a good idea for sure on mixing the creams 👍. As far as olive green shoes I may have just the thing. Started my own shoe line and have a stunning olive patina available on all my models. Check the site and tell me what you think. I have images of the wholecut, Adelaide, loafer and chukka in olive. Other models are available but I have not yet ordered one in for them. www.michaeldarrenshoes.com
This is a completely unique brand of shoe and a completely unique situation needing to be restored. If you don't get any value from it feel free to not view the videos. 👍
You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. MBShoedoc isn’t copying or ripping off anyone. 5 min on IG, Styleforum, etc. would do you well, along with an apology to Mike (MBShoedoc) who is a class act.
@Free dom I appreciate your support. I know Preston and we are friendly towards each other. I don't think I am taking anything away from what he is doing by doing my own thing that is similar. Not sure why this guy felt so strongly that he needed to defend him. Unfortunately he posted little jabs on a number of my videos but I think has finally gotten over it. Although I suspect he may be the one thumbs down I tend to get on each video 🤷♂️🤦♂️.
Nice save, Mike. Those were a mess.

Great work and great videos!
Beautiful work
I really appreciate it. They started a mess but cleaned up just fine 👍
Fantastic‼️🔥🔥🔥

Unbelievable work :-)
Thanks very much. I have never before encountered that flaking off acrylic spray but thankfully it got sorted out.

I think it would be better to get a walnut colored AE to do the mid tan patina on. The olive might still show and affect the final color.

@@boblob-law9401 most patina mistakes can be sorted with a re strip and dye and a little time.
Why do the shoe cream before the conditioner? Wouldn’t you have more control the other way around?

My jury is still out on the Burnishing. I would have preferred straight olive on these.
Well hopefully you can at least appreciate the clean up if not the burnish 👍
Boom!
I appreciate it

Sorry I'm not sure what you said there but I'll take it as a positive response 👍
