I just follow you due to Battle Brothers. I saw this on Steam, but felt underwhelmed. How would you compare the games? Been wanting to scratch that itch.

As I get more Wartales hours I'm enjoying it more and more! As someone who's kinda beaten BB, this is a fun and similar game. It's not as polished as BB which came out in 2015 and has had 7 years of patches and DLC (and to expect Wartales to be as polished is absurd), but this is a functional game and it's a good one at that. I don't want to right now compare the two games, but I will be playing Wartales a lot in the next weeks so if you wanna trust my judgment then get it for yourself :)

@@emirturkeli5916and worse combat. It’s unfortunate they use a point system instead of fatigue and it’s frustrating that combat starts with characters scattered in a messy way.
Some of the attacks skills are also annoying because they only give an aoe option. Really odd choice by them
Everything else is 9/10. The exploration and party system is really good

I have about 11 hours in the game and am really enjoying it. Have not had too much trouble with the fights like this...get the initial plan set and then it is just a dance. BUT the bleeping bandit leader is going to be the death of me, well has been a couple of times now. Attack and make sure you have movement left to get out of range seems like the strategy but I can't get it right. Any advice on that guy? BTW, no issues with the sound.

I used to play Wartales. It's kinda like Battle Brothers, but with better graphics. DO NOT put points into STR & DEX, as you'll auto get them from the weapons. Put points into crit chance, movement, crit dmg instead.
For bandit leader, before moving anyone, located the leader. Place your highest dmg dealer as close to the leader as possible. Again, more movement helps to run away. Use terrain to your advantage, like choke points.
If you decide to hack the game & edit your gold & items, it's NOT as easy as Battle Brothers. In BB, you just search float & put in the amount of gold your game has. Voila. In Wartales, the programmers put in a bunch of FAKE values that aren't your actual value, plus they XOR (a programming command) the real value & hide it.

i think that even with 'more polish' I would not enjoy this game very much.
I don't like the items. I don't like the abilities. I don't like the names. I don't like item levels.
This is just low grade factory slop. Galvanized troops, lol. What even does that mean. Does it cover the troops with zinc?
No, of course not, it's just BS crap. Cannot touch Battle Brothers on those fronts.

It also means "to stimulate or excite as if by electric shock", but your idea is funnier. It's a different type of game. I'm glad you have BB to fill your gaming time!

@@CarveaHole I dunno, man. I like myself a good tone.
Battle Brothers kind of dropped the ball, technically, in some places, too.
Like oversized weapons in some parts (like the famed stuff)
I mean I get it, but every time something like that happens, in a market that is oversaturated with "exuberant pomp", a game gets less unique.
Its like... ever seen that old animated movie, secret of nimh?
If you haven't, well, it's a pretty well done animated movie, quite magical, yet down to earth. There's probably trailers on ths website for it.
      Anyway.
Now imagine a complete copy of that, verbatim, except its now drawn in Steven Universe Calarts, the voice actors are all screechy and they talk using the worst slang possible.
It's still 'the same movie', it's still a fantasy movie, but it doesn't hit the same way.
"The morale of my men is waning, forsooth, I must galvanize them posthaste!"
Who, in the realworld, talks like that? That's something you might find in a book but not "in an ability".
Rally your troops! Now that's something fitting.
Ah I'm still pretty much a grognard/cormudgeon of course, but there's just something about the fact that its:
1.) a compartmentalized ability, which the unit, like an automaton must go through the motions of
2.) named in such an "ungritty" way
3.) presented in unity asset store low fantasy three dee (as if things had been that drab, even bushpeople paint their faces with powders of all kinds)
Turns what should be a battlefield into a rockem sockem robots match.
Beep boop. The button number one has been actuated by the user. I am now galvanizing you. Boop beep. The effect is an increase of one in your morale variable. Beep beep. Now playing user feedback animation, bshooooooom.
Also, this means I"m not really mad...I think I'm just burnt out on hullabalooh.
Asian fantasy MMORPGS are very guilty of this too, but in a different way. Everythings too opulent and flashy and overdesigned.
Man I just want a dude who knows how to swing a sword at other rustic rabble.
BB really painted that curve well, it's all men underneath, but of ability/mettle that felt meaningful, and with equipment, for the most part, that reflected an actual reallife powercurve, at least loosely.
Yeah I'm mostly sad, not mad.
