ചങ്ങനാശ്ശേരി സ്വദേശിനിയായ മായ പ്രമോദ് ഒരു ഗവേഷകയും എഴുത്തുകാരിയുമാണ്. ക്യാന്സറുമായി ജനിക്കുന്ന മായയുടെ ജീവിതം വളരെയധികം കഷ്ടപ്പാടുകളും യാതനകളും നിറഞ്ഞതായിരുന്നു. സാമ്പത്തികമായി വളരെയധികം പിന്നോക്കം നിന്ന മായയുടെ കുടുംബം വളരെ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിയാണ് കഴിഞ്ഞുകൂടിയിരുന്നത്. ഒരു വീട്ടുപണിക്കാരിയായിരുന്ന അമ്മ പല വീടുകളിൽ ഒരേസമയം പണിക്ക് പോയിട്ടാണ് മായയെയും സഹോദരിമാരെയും നോക്കിയിരുന്നത്. ദളിത് കമ്മ്യൂണിറ്റിയിൽ നിന്നുമുള്ള മായ തന്റെ വളർച്ചയുടെ ഓരോ ഘട്ടങ്ങളിലും ചുറ്റുമുള്ള സമൂഹത്തിൽനിന്നും വളരെയധികം അവഗണന നേരിട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. പല തരത്തിലുമുള്ള മാറ്റിനിർത്തലുകളും അവഗണയും ദൈനംദിന ജീവിതത്തിൽ മായ അനുഭവിച്ചിരുന്നു. തന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ വാക്കിനോട് നീതി പുലർത്താനായി മായ പഠനകാര്യങ്ങളിൽ കഠിനമായി അദ്ധ്വാനിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി. ഡിഗ്രിക്കുശേഷം പിജിയും MPhil-ഉം നേടിയ മായ പ്രമോദ് ഇന്ന് തന്റെ ഗവേഷണത്തിൽ അമേരിക്കയിലെ ബ്രാൻറെയ്സ് യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റിയുടെ ബ്ലൂസ്റ്റോൺ അവാർഡ് ജേതാവുമാണ്.

Maya Pramod, a native of Changanassery, is a researcher and author. Born with cancer, Maya's life was full of hardships and sufferings. Maya's family, who were financially very backward, were having a hard time. Her mother, who was a housemaid, went to work in several houses at the same time to look after Maya and her sisters. Maya from the Dalit community has faced a lot of neglect from the surrounding community at every stage of her growth. Maya experienced various forms of neglect in her daily life. Maya began to work hard at her studies to do justice to her mother's words. Maya Pramod, who holds a PG and MPhil after graduation, is today the recipient of the Bluestone Award from the University of Brandeis in the United States for her research.
