10:00 I'm sure this is pretty much a scripted tutorial event, but randomly firing in the general vicinity of the zombies head then panicking is such a refreshingly honest response. Its part of why I love Jon's playthroughs.
jon is like the anti badass protagonist. put in any dangerous situation like this he would probably panic flail and almost immediately be killed and we love it because deep down we know we’d probably all do the same
This reminds me a lot of how Prey (2017) Mooncrash DLC worked. Very different games, sure, but the different playable characters having an impact on the chances of the other's escaping, or even depending on certain characters to do things only they can do before escaping themselves, was an interesting design I adored.
I gotta say I did NOT expect FPS shooting lol I figured you were just going to show off that it had old school RE isometric shooting but the perspective swap is pretty ballsy.
Hey John. Have you played the game "Stubbs the Zombie"? It's somewhat recently been released on GOG so it's modern playable, and it's best described as a dark comedy game where you are a zombie in pre apocalyptic Fallout
Really interesting fusion of Resident Evil 1's style and setting, with plot elements from the Zero Escape series, which I assume Jon hasn't played yet. Those are two games I enjoyed immensely. Gonna have to look into buying this after finishing my current games.
@@torgranael honestly, i had too look back myself cause I jumped so hard, it wasn't able too fully register. Nothing has EVER made me jump that hard. This game is amazing at loosening the tension just before a jumpscare, im impressed on so many levels

If it didn't have a horror framing, I think I'd quite like to play a game like this. However, given that I have no tolerance for horror, I'm thankful that I can watch such entertaining youtubers -suffer- have fun in my place.
Surprised to see Jon play this! I just found out about it and played through it myself yesterday. It's really something special because it's an actual SURVIVAL Horror Game. You have to watch out to not die atevery Decision. I miss Games like this. Also proves that Indie Games can easily be better than AAA Games simply because of the Decisions made and not because of the Budget Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
This game feels like it'll be more frustrating then rewarding. The combat and random death traps. Almost like it misses what makes a Survival game work, which is that it shouldn't try and kill the player.
Isn't that the whole point of a survival game? That it DOES try and kill the player? Not doing that feels like it would defeat the point. I mean, this game is literally called 'You Will Die Here Tonight'. It's SUPPOSED to try and kill you, it's the WHOLE POINT OF THE GAME. I think you're missing something here. A survival game not trying to kill you feels counter-intuitive anyway.
@@lukebradford Survival games aren't trying to kill the player, but make the player feel on edge that they might die. There's a reason Resident Evil 4 has an adaptive difficulty system.
So you've never played The Long Dark then I take it? Because that's one of the best survival games out there, and it's entire baseline existence is trying to kill you via cold, starvation, wildlife and your own dumb decisions. By your logic it's not a good survival game Sorry mate but you're full of it

Because it's giving you the resources to survive, and giving it to you in a measured approach that rewards critical thinking and resource management. That's where the survival aspect of survival games comes from. It's not about the game killing you. But forcing you to survive.
As entertaining as this is, i feel like with the title, this is a wasted opportunity for a game of the good old film Brain Dead. Jon would prolly enjoy playing the lawnmower scene :)

100% missing the point of a stylised game like this one, the combat crossed with the exploration the way this game does it is a really unique take on the genre, way more interesting when compared to either 3rd/1st person or twin stick shooters. I’m guessing that’s about all you play from the comment tho ayy

@@VengefulPenny stylised is no excuse for bad. Nor for frustrating, annoying, luck based. Simple 2d target shooting also is hardly anything new. Maybe on old arcades, N64 and Amiga it looked a tiny bit better... The first usually had a gun, where this makes a little more sense than with analog sticks... You can get away with excusing bad graphics with "style" or "art". But not gameplay. And as i said, the narrative concept is interesting. By pairing it with this ...combat, the make the game a complete no-go for me.

This style of game is perfect for streaming. Great mixture of puzzles, action, tension and jump-scares!

It's really something special because it's an actual SURVIVAL Horror Game. You have to watch out to not die atevery Decision.
