I'm rocking a set of expedition drawers in my LX470, and they are 100% LEGIT. Super well built and incredibly functional. An absolute game changer for long trips!
SHW Offroad installed a system in my 5th Gen 4Runner and loving it so far. I went with a smaller Dometic cooler slide and there is plenty of room for sleeping on the passenger side. Great value and solid product engineering!
I built a similar design myself without runners, they simply slide on a smooth cabinet surface, they slide effortlessly with no issue and no loss of space due to runners. I simply used latched to keep them in place when shut.
Been a subscriber before you even hit 1000 subs and to this day I still absolutely love your vids! But I always come back to the one question I've been wanting to ask. What on earth do you do for a living?
It would work great as long as you have a sealed bed! The fiberglass composite one they have now is still light and is waterproof, but you definitely pay a premium for the material.
@@RevereOverland oh definitely I just don’t want drawer slides due to having the exposed bed and getting grit in them. No matter how good the seal is eventually the slides will fail. When they come out with the uhmv in that one I’d be all in.
Eventually I would like to do the same, as I live in northeastern Tennessee, and by driving up to Kentucky I could be assured of a 'no problem' install.
Lol I heard imported wood from Spain, and out of my budget 😂. This was really cool to see and get ideas from. The drawer slide comment is 100%. I downgraded from 250 lb ones as it was too dang heavy and overkill. This looks really well made, and a great product. Does it have a bed platform attached?
JLU - $1350 -$1400 . . . 5th Gen 4 Runner - $2000 -$2400??? I understand value is subjective to each consumer, but I can't help but feel these prices are ludicrous.
We actually pride ourselves on being made in America right here in the state of Kentucky but being able to compete with the chinese made brands price wise. It's not easy.
Like Wes said, they start at $899 shipped. If you have the skills, you can save a little by building it yourself. If not, you could use totes from Walmart. It won’t be as good or easy to use, but it’ll be a lot cheaper.
@@shaweehillsworkshop4226 - I believe I did see it correctly for what was shown by Rob. . . I saw your ultralight drawer system is unfinished in raw wood, with no sleep platform and no OEM subwoofer is $900.00, but that's not what was reviewed or shown. I'm not disputing your prices. . . @@shaweehillsworkshop4226 I respect that but could counter that there are also many U.S.A craftsmen that would be willing to produce one-offs of equal quality for less. I wish you the best of luck and prosperity in your business endeavors.
@@RevereOverland I’ve seen other companies offer universal SUV drawer systems but then you usually have to build your own gear platform to make sure the lip is level with the floor. Too be honest though if I’m paying that much I expect it to be made specifically for my vehicle.
for anyone thats interested, its almost $1,500. close to the price. close to the price of my hard top add on lol. and it doesnt even have slides!!!!!!! people... cutting out the plywood does not save you much weight at all. just do this yourself with wood glue. Literally a single mom without any tools could buy some tools and do this. It wont look great but it would do the EXACT same job.
Of course you can make it cheaper yourself… when you’re paying someone else to make something, it’s going to cost more. You’re also paying for it to be shipped to your door in that price. That being said, you won’t make it fit this well (with the sides it has?) without an $8,000 scanner and some serious CAD programming. You also won’t get close to this light without importing the same plywood, which has a minimum order of thousands of dollars, and a CNC (which cost $40,000) or a lot of time routing. Also don’t just use wood glue. That’s just asking for it to fall apart.
You could 100% replicate this yourself with a $12k scanner, $3k CAD software, $600 spray gun, and a $30k CNC machine! Seriously though: anyone is capable of building a DIY drawer system for less, but people always underestimate the cost of materials and time taken. When we built my 4Runner one, the roll on was $150 (quality spray is closer to $250), the plywood is $180 a sheet, and it took a very long time. You'd also need a sheet of UHMW, which is hundreds of dollars, or you could use the drawer slides that were around $80 a pair for mine. It also won’t be nearly as light, but if that’s not your priority then go for it!
Yeah the fiberglass composite and extra long 500 lbs drawer slides are way more expensive than the simple Ultralite systems! It’s what I have in my Tundra though - it’s twice the price of Decked, but has twice the storage space while also being lighter!
The one in the video is $1,299 currently. Building it is still cheaper, but you’re going to spend a small fortune on the plywood if you want the same lightness.

That’s awesome! I agree on them being a game changer. I was all about using totes before, but drawers make life so much easier.
Awesome drawers - simplicity is key when seriously off-roading
Good system weight is killer for over landing . Merry Christmas for you and your family.

This is what we were filming when you were there! It was good to see you again - it has been a while!

Hi there! With the height of the drawer system and how it covers your subwoofer, does that negatively impact the sound of your audio?
Do they come assembled? How does it mount into the vehicle? Particularly 5th generation 4runner.
They do come assembled. You'd have to call them and ask about the mounting in the 4Runner, since every vehicle is different!
Is this plywood lighter than aluminum?
I’m not certain, but it’s probably similar for a comparable strength aluminum.
It says free shipping and we know that can't be cheap. Would the price go down if one were to drive there and pick it up? I'm only few hours away.
Give them a call!

Yes, we give a discount and install it if you come see us, just call or email us.
What type of Coating on Drawer is that.
Polyurea (aka bed liner)
To get that light, is there a durability issue? Drop/fall… can it support heavy weight on top?
no durability issues. You can stack more weight on top than the vehicle can hold. All the weight is removed from non structural locations
I should have stood on the top of it!
