All those hats are adorable! When I was working in the hospital that would have been a great item to have.

You have done some interesting things! Another mentioned they would work for chemo caps. Cheers to you and yours, friend.

What a cute customized hat for the doc! When you mentioned the Kai rotary cutter, my ears perked up because I just bought Kai 9 in. shears a few months ago. They are the best scissors I've ever used in over 50 years of sewing, so I may have to check out the rotary thing, too. Back in 2016, I was trying to find something like this for my husband who was in the last stages of lung cancer and had no hair due to chemo. I found a crude one online at a motorcycle accessory shop as something to wear under a helmet. It worked for Rob, but these are fantastic! They'd also be great for yard work to keep hair and sweat out of your face. Thanks for another visit to your sewing room, and cheers from Norman!

You are right about them being useful in other parts of life! So sorry to hear about your husband. With the soft terry on the inside they would be comfortable for someone with hair loss and sensitive skin from treatment. I hadn't thought about it until you mentioned it! Howdy Norman! I'm hoping to head back to that side of the state in a few weeks.

Great to see you back sewing Stacy! What a great useful tutorial! The Clue of the missing Tape Dispenser looks like it’s at the back of your Serger on this video 😊❤

Alison! You are the winner of the hidden tape hunt. Hilarious! It is the one from my desk downstairs too. Gosh I got a laugh out of you spotting it! 😂

I forgot about rotary cutter hints. I use weights instead of pins, but there is no magic when using the rotary cutter for apparel. I was an avid quilter and the rulers they make today help tremendously when using rotary cutter to cut out strips for blocks. Just keep changing the blade and no more than 3 layers…

I think cutting through 6 layers may be the problem with a rotary cutter. The most I ever usually do is 2 or 3. I feel like its hard to get it accurate with that many layers. Great gift for a friend in the medical field. Good to see you sewing again.

Renee, I wondered if it wasn't just me. 😅 I need to try it with a new blade and only two layers again. I always have more success when just cutting bias with a ruler like you motioned for quilting.

I have that same Olfa cutter, lol. But I am a good 10 years older than you. My favorite one is an old (probably from the same era as the Olfa) Fiskars 60mm one.

I have to say I have a love-hate relationship with my rotary cutter. I am going to check out the Fiskars you recommend. I like my kai but I am open to a new tool.

@ I have tried a bunch, all different shapes, styles, brands, etc. LOL. I guess it all depends on what you get used to. My biggest pet peeve is how long the blades stay sharp!

Watching you with the rotary cutter makes me think you would benefit from safety gloves. Just on your non dominate hand. That way if you slip, you won’t cut yourself. You can find in kitchen area. They were originally for shucking oysters. Not expensive at all.

I will look for some gloves. We had chainmail style gloves when I worked for a clothing manufacturer in college. Also, I just don't love the rotary cutter. I think I have unrealistic expectations. 😅
