    About this game:
    A good, cheap and beautiful family filler. This quick and easy card game follows a draft dynamic seen in other games like 7 wonders. 3 rounds are played during which players accumulate points by making the best possible Japanese food combinations. The art is adorable and the theme is present throughout the entire game.

      Great! You'll notice that they are both very similar. Our intention with having 2 tutorials is to have a detailed one for the game owners with faqs, game setups, emphasis in difficult rules, possible expansions... And then a shorter version of that for new players without going into unnecessary details that might saturate them. I play the express videos when friends come over to play while I setup the game and by listening to it in the background it helps me remember a few things. I hope the videos helped!

      Yes, its a thematic intro we like to do for our tutrials. We enjoy making these intros and believe they help people understand the game better. Im sorry it's not your cup of tea. You can skip it easily with the time marks in the video description.
      The reason the video is called Express turorial is to differentiate it from our detailed tutorial. Yes, we have 2 of them. "Detailed" is for the game owner and "express" is for teaching new players. Once again, sorry if it's not your cup of tea, but luckily for you there are many other channels out there which will satisfy your needs.
      Enjoy and thank you for your feedback.

      @@GamesOnBoard don't worry about it bud i was just making a joke. maybe teasing a bit not worth your time to reply. I mean you gotta admit it's ironic at least. i didnt say it was bad or lacked information just pointed out the irony., no need to get bothered by it as i truly didn't mean to.. Just teasing you for making an Express version of something then making 25% of the duration an intro lol. I mean you gotta admit it's funny if you're unable to laugh at yourself then i'll just say i'm sorry for upsetting you with my comment

    this vs exploding kittens?

    • @GamesOnBoard
      @GamesOnBoard  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't tried Exploding Kittens but from what I know about it they are quite different. Exploding kittens is more or a cut throat game with some push your luck elements and lots of chance. I love the oatmeal but from what I've seen of the game that's practically the best part about it. When players loose they are kicked out of the game and have to wait for the rest to finish. That's something that I really don't appreciate about games.
      Sushi go! is easier to understand, there is some strategy to it, the games are fast and entertaining and although chance is a huge factor, you get to see what others are doing and can therefore change your strategy. The players are not eliminated from the game.
      So without having played Exploding kittens I'd go for Sushi Go! or the new edition, Sushi go Party! which includes this basic game and extra cards.

    • @salami2358
      @salami2358 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i'd say Exploding kittens is better!

    Great video! I need simple party games for my students (ages 15-19) and Sushi Go seems to be too complicated, there are too many cards, too many rules and the scoring system seems complex. Any way to simplify this game? Or are there any other games that you'd like to recommend? Thanks in advance!

    • @GamesOnBoard
      @GamesOnBoard  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey Flavio! Thanks for dropping by!
      Don't give up on Sushi Go! Just yet. The best way to simplify it is to start with a test round. Remove the puddings, the dumplings and the chopsticks. Play a complete round so they get used to the draft mechanic, which I believe is the hardest part for new players. After a test round I can assure you they'll get a hang of it.
      Show them how the score would go and then start from 0 once again. I recommend you do this with this and any other game. Always play a test round where the scores do not matter.
      After this round, inlclude the other cards and they will transfer positively what they have learned. The puddings are just like the maki rolls except that they score at the end of the game. The more dumplings the more points you get, and then the chopstick is the only real new information they'll have to introduce into the game.
      I've played this game with family and friends within the ages 12-60 and at a tournament, an 8-year-old girl, gave a lesson XD. It may seem complex but following these 2 steps it'll go smoothly.
      For other party game recommendations. How many student's are we talking about? Is this just for fun, or would you like to work certain aspects in class with them? I'm an English teacher myself and use games in class to work on grammar and new vocabulary.

      Thank you for your reply! I need extremely simple party games for large groups of students (18 players, ages 15-19) from poor neighborhoods and huge learning difficulties. Taboo, No Thanks and Unspeakable Words worked really well. Any other tips? Thanks in advance!

      A hidden identity game could work but I don't like Werewolf and I'm not entirely sure about The Resistance.

    • @GamesOnBoard
      @GamesOnBoard  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I see... Well, It is hard to find modern boardgames for so many people, but you could put them into groups. Check out games like Dobble, Jungle Speed, Fliegen Klatschen, Cheating Moth, Tarantel Tango... Most of these depend on hability, reflexes... They are lots of fun and always work.
      Time's up is a bit like Taboo. Check it out cause I think it'll fit quite well in your group.
      I'm not a huge fan of hidden identity games, Werewolf can go on for way too long and those eliminated in the first rounds are left around with nothing left to do. There is a version though that only lasts one round. It is called One Night Ultimate Werewolf. There are many roles, but there is a phone app that acts as the narrator and tells you what to do.
      How do they do with theory of mind? Dixit Odyssey is one of my favs, I have a tutorial on it that you can check out in the channel.
      Push your luck games will probably work well too. My favorite is Diamant. Its for up to 8 players.
      And lastly a friend gamer and psichologist recommends you check "alles kanone!", he uses it for memory and lexic.
      I hope this helps. Let me know if you decide on any of them.

      Seems simple enough. I just played with my 12 year-old niece and 7 year-old nephew. Helps my nephew review his maths as i make him compute the scoring. I just remind him the rules.

    No don’t understand the scoring cards 😣

    • @GamesOnBoard
      @GamesOnBoard  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Cristina, the cards are explained in more detail in our video review, not this tutorial. Here is the link to our blog, you can download our updated version of the scoring cards at the bottom of the page by clickin on the scoring cards image. You can also watch the review video there. gamesonboard.eu/index.php/2017/06/13/sushi-go-eng/
      The principle behind the scoring cards is the following: place the card with the units on the bottom and the card with the tens on top. Rotate the top card and align one of its borders with a number on the bottom card.
      If I wanted to mark 23 points for example, I would rotate the top card to the side with the 20 then slide it on top of the "3" on the bottom card.

    If Dumplings scored exponentially they would be: 1, 10, 100, 1000, 10,000.

    • @thenamegoeshere3393
      @thenamegoeshere3393 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It means a different definition of exponentially than you're thinking.
      "(with reference to an increase) more and more rapidly.
      "
      not
      "by means of or as expressed by a mathematical exponent.
      "
      And even if it was the second definition it wouldn't make sense as the number 1 with any exponent is still just 1.
