Yes sir. Please help us. I absolutely feel this. I'm a nurse but I want to lead/teach the youth. I love praying and interceding for people. I love singing. What so resonates with me about one thing you said is that you were unemployed but you felt so free. Back in 2019, my family and I were essentially homeless following a flood, living in a hotel. Insurance didn't do right by us and did not pay one red cent toward our upkeep. Our savings were dwindling, and we were depending upon help from organizations, churches, etc. So God rained manna from heaven but one thing that stuck out to me about that time is that I actually remember walking around feeling incredibly confident and more assured personally as God's child. Idk how to explain it. As a classic overachiever and former perfectionist, I've realized the conundrum of being on the hamster wheel. It's not living. I'm now trying to find a way to make my life worth the living for me. "Keep the brush moving." Thank you sir.
The American dream is about 100 times harder for Artistic people like us. We must create our own personal dream and believe it or not you already have created your own American Personalized dreams.

The American Dream moved to Europe at the early '70s. Sorry about that and greetings from Finland, the happiest country in the world for 5th time in a row 🙂
I love that "The American Dream is Self Defined". So true. The dream is what you believe it is. It could be a steady job. It could be a new Mercedes. It could be money in the bank. It could be a 4 million dollar beach home. It could be a paid for double wide trailer. I have to remember that saying. Im going to put that on my refridgerator.
Thanks for sharing your perspective here; I think we're getting into semantics. But I do agree with the notion that an ideal life is self defined-American Dream is just a label for a traditional, by the books life in the rat race that most never escape from. Thank you so much for watching, that means the world to me!
Live your life! It’s funny I have watched alot of these videos on this topic. All different creeds both male and female. Yours is the first I have seen with such pushback over YOUR choices. Black man is lazy when he makes a choice to follow his bliss? Interesting 🤔
And it's funny because if they knew how much I've achieved by 28 and how insane my work ethic is, they'd never use the word lazy. But this is the internet, they don't see my real life so no hard feelings lol. Thank you so much for watching, that means the world to me!
It’s just more radical when we opt out of what’s normal and safe. Other demos get to spread out all along the lifestyle spectrum without it being a big deal. They don’t make a proclamation; they just do it.
“The American Dream” is that which REALLY brings u happiness and satisfaction. What most people will learn as they get older is that once u get to a financially stable place, the things that u can buy with money will never satisfy u. But the freedom that money (if not wasted) affords u is what will bring u that satisfaction that u desire. When people say “money isn’t everything,” what they mean is that “materialistic stuff isn’t everything.”
ofcourse, people with nonfinancial literacy will blame the white man when its this country that gives us the ability to retire in 10-20 years instead of 50, so they compromise a decent life for a mediocre one cause theyre too scared to give up a good one for a great one at 35-40
@@CurtSummers I have man! You really have to do what you love, and being a service to others helps with that! plus don't be scared to let go of anything that holds you down. People place or thing let it go!
I clicked on one video with "American Dream" in the title and now TH-cam is giving me a bunch of these videos. Unfortunately blocking stopped working. I'm 65. I dropped out 20 years ago. The "American Dream" traditionally meant "opportunity" THAT'S IT. It was the opposite of "Keeping up with the Jones". That phrase was created because it's different from "American Dream". All the things you're talking about is exactly what the American Dream enables you to obtain. I know because I lived it. It enabled me to drop out and do whatever I wanted. I live a very simple life spending $600/mo and completely happy. I own my house, buy my clothes and shoes at second hand stores and love that. I was a software engineer in my career but had many crap jobs before that. I joined the Army out of high school because it would pay for college. The opportunity to risk my life to get money for college is the American Dream. Get into reality.
Thanks for sharing Water Bug, maybe we define the American Dream different in the modern era. Sounds like you've lived a beautiful life so far. Thank you so much for watching, that means the world to me!
ima have to disagree lol I know what it's like to be poor, homeless, starving, desperate, etc. I never wanna go back to that. It definitely built character and grit, but it was Hell.
What he’s saying is that he can’t afford an American life like white folk live 😅. BTW he deserves to live a very stable & fruitful life. The only way for us black folks to get that life is through fighting for reparations! You can’t hope, dream, or crypto your way out of this! This country owes us $25+ Trillion dollars for unpaid slave labor plus the protections/policies in place for us to keep/grow the money! #ADOS ✌🏾🇺🇸. Everything else is a hustle…
I'm not sure, maybe a collective awakening of sorts. This was actually a spur of the moment video, I learned how popular it was through these comments lol. Thank you so much for watching, that means the world to me!
Less than ten years in the workforce, and he’s already given up on the American dream. Try not to hit up your family for money while you live that carefree lifestyle.
Reposting this comment from before to add context. I'm 28 years old. I grew up poor in a single parent household and I have multiple degrees from 2 elite institutions, played division 1 football, started a scholarship fund and mentoring program with some of my best friends, work a full time job making 6 figures, I rap produce and engineer, do youtube, I'm a personal trainer on the side, and I have 2 businesses. I workout 6 days a week and stay in tip top shape all year round. I don't need my family' money nor would I want anything from them but the genuine love and support I already receive. This isn't to brag, just letting you know your judgements are baseless and incorrect. I work harder than 99% of people I know, that's mixed with unwavering self-belief and some luck along the way have gotten me here at 28. Nobody is immune to hard work, it's simply a shifting of perspective. I used to pressure myself to be perfect or to have certain things right when I want them. That led me to implosion and deep depression and almost made me drop out of Vanderbilt as a freshman. I decided to come back and simply do my very best and let the chips fall. Next semester I made the Dean's List and also went on to earn my first varsity letter and win SEC Scholar Athlete of the Semester in 2014. The work isn't an issue. The insane amounts of self-imposed pressure are. We should empty ourselves daily, but enjoy the present moments along the way. Thank you for watching!
@@CurtSummers I think you’re contradicting yourself, you said you’re giving up on the American dream, but in reality you’re living the American dream right now. How many people you know can take a month off from work without economic hardship, owning two companies which gives you income to afford these things. The American dream is to be able to afford the lifestyle you choose to live in a comfortable manner. If you want a home, two suv in the driveway, vacation, money for the children college, hang out in Jamaica for a month, no problem, that’s the American dream.
What I heard is contradictions. Your wants and goals, star, musical artist, movational speaker, travel, fitness coach are all extremes of the American dream and first World dreams of privilege society. With those goals you will have to sacrifice your time and family. America is land of opportunity but you will. Pay and Work for it many times over. Especially if you come from limited. Economic means or family. It's exhausting. And with your goals it is extremely rare anyone will reach that level of success. Americans want the dream life of God's. But not pressure and headache to obtain it. While also setting the bar to their wants of success so high.i don't think you are wanting a simple life, it seems you want it ALL.
Nope, you misinterpreted my entire video. At 28, I've risen from extreme poverty to achieve almost everything I've ever dreamed of. Went to the best schools, played sports at a high level, started scholarships and non-profits, I am a personal trainer on the side, and I get paid to speak. My only "desire" in life is freedom. Freedom of choice. And simple life to me doesn't mean it can't be filled with good things, it means I value the choice to cary out each day however I see fit regardless of what some "ideal" lifestyle is. Hope that helps.
@@CurtSummers that’s the problem. Your content. Your limit your ability as a man to create. No journey should have you giving up. What is your term of success if I may ask ?

It could be a 4 million dollar beach home. It could be a paid for double wide trailer. I have to remember that saying. Im going to put that on my refridgerator.
Thanks for sharing your perspective here; I think we're getting into semantics. But I do agree with the notion that an ideal life is self defined-American Dream is just a label for a traditional, by the books life in the rat race that most never escape from.
Same 🤷🏽♂️
So many more fulfilling ways to live man!
I have a very serious question, why do I only see video of black people in america. Who make this video, about giving up America's dream.
It’s just more radical when we opt out of what’s normal and safe. Other demos get to spread out all along the lifestyle spectrum without it being a big deal. They don’t make a proclamation; they just do it.
@@Aye_Yay_La I was gonnna say the same! Thank you so much for watching, that means the world to me!
Maybe because the American Dream was never made for us, idk. Thank you so much for watching, that means the world to me!
@@Aye_Yay_La ok, thx!
Chill with the Taurus, cuz all of us are not the same.
When people say “money isn’t everything,”
what they mean is that “materialistic stuff isn’t everything.”
ofcourse, people with nonfinancial literacy will blame the white man when its this country that gives us the ability to retire in 10-20 years instead of 50, so they compromise a decent life for a mediocre one cause theyre too scared to give up a good one for a great one at 35-40
@@lilid5016 It’s not about blaming the “white man” because you have financially illiterate people of all colors AND ages.

American dream suppose to be enjoyable.
Being poor is better than being middle class. Blessed be the poor for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
I definitely believe it's less stressful. You can be poor anywhere in the USA but Middle Class is & ongoing grind.
ima have to disagree lol I know what it's like to be poor, homeless, starving, desperate, etc.

@@alvinclarke5105 finna say that sounds like it
What I heard is contradictions.
Excuses excuses excuses
How so? I'm already successful.
@@CurtSummers that’s the problem. Your content. Your limit your ability as a man to create. No journey should have you giving up. What is your term of success if I may ask ?
