    I was literally across the road from this facility when this happened. I was inside of a greenhouse at SCC. The aftermath on campus was incredible.

    I was at McCracken Middle at the time, sitting in 7th period VEX Robotics. Crazy that it's been this long already

    I was at school at the time, and we were all hunker down in the auditorium lobby. I don't remember if that was the year that the heater broke, but I remember driving by the damage with dad. It was awful. And also one truck went through the ceiling of one nearby buildings

    I live in Spartanburg and know the weather here pretty well so I had always suspected a pretty hefty microburst. But that is a tornado, thankfully a small one -about as small as possible, but as you can see even the tiniest cause lots of damage. I lived through the Aprill 2011 outbreak in Alabama, I promise you tornados are pretty rare in South Carolina north of the Columbia area, but they can happen almost anywhere.

      Tornadoes aren't common there though? lol

    • @taylorchitwood2171
      @taylorchitwood2171 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No they are not common in the spartanburg area. We had an EF1 in North spartanburg county yesterday, before that, this tornado back in 2017 was the last one we had.

      I also was inside SCC, I was actually trying to go to the DMV but they wouldn’t let anyone inside so we went around the corner to SCC and hung out at the bookstore until it was over.

    I was on Business 85 traveling south, trying to get home, right at Heron Circle. I puller up behind a stopped tractor trailer and just held on!! I saw your building Jack, and all those overturned tractor trailers, it was terrible.

    The first bit of rotation came through and I thought, EF0, how cute...the the big one hit. It moved that tractor sideways without even using the trailer as a sail.

    I was asleep at my apartment when the sirens went off & I felt the whole apartment start to shake I didn't have time to get to the bathroom so I got under the bed as best I could. It definitely sounds like a freight train coming at you.

But I remember this specifically because I was just a few miles up the road on I85 when this happened so I remember that tornado although it didn’t really look like the tornadoes were used to seeing since this was a relatively weak tornado

    I always knew you couldn’t see a rain wrapped tornado coming. You can barely glimpse it at :48 on the right before it disappears again and that is terrifying. I understand now why so many in Joplin never saw that F-5 before it hit them.

    I live in California and we got hit by 3 tornados one day (tiny ones). Knocked over trucks on the 215 freeway and tossed railroad cars off of the local BNSF line. This was back in 2008 I think. Yup tornado's can happen anywhere.

      I am a Supervisor. I didn't get scared until it was over. Then when we saw the destruction I realized how close we came to dying. I have more video from that day inside the building I shot with my cell phone. I also will be posting more footage from outside when everyone was outside surveying the damage. coming soon. Stay tuned.

      My friend & his son got trapped when a power line fell & pinned them in their car. They were ok, but the son was young & so my friend had to keep him calm. They had minor scratches from.broken glass, but otherwise they were fine. Still a scary & traumatic experience.
