I get the thing about texting but look at it this way… the more you text in Portuguese (or whatever foreign language) the more familiar it becomes… and the faster you reach fluency. You’re using these girls to improve your language skills. No need to worry about playing games and power dynamics.

I was in Recife about 12-13 years back to stay with a girlfriend.
The back streets are empty at night because it ,like many other major cities has a high street crime rate.
All the action is on the main drag along the beach or in venues behind closed doors...people drive or take a taxi between places at night,dont walk.
I got to ask bro...are you dating to potentially find a long term gf and eventually wife or are you just dating to slay as many women as you can?

Hello Auston, Fred and Floyd. I'm originally from Recife and my husband is an American. Americans get scared because in Recife has no movement on the beach like the other cities: Salvador, Rio, Fortaleza etc, but they always have moment after Thursday night on the pubs and clubs, maybe you guys were there in the end of the month and people receiving salary per month in Brasil, and by the end of the month everybody in broke and they are in home. Economic situation isn't good in Brasil right now. And Recife doesn't receive a lot of tourists like Rio and Salvador that are the 2 cities that receive more tourist in Brasil, that's why they have more money going on then Recife.
And other problem that you guys had over there, is that the best pubs in Recife, they aren't in the neighborhood that you people were, they are in Antique Recife, that's a suburb located in downtown Recife that's is around 20 minutes by car from Boa Viagem, where you can find good famous pubs like Rock and Ribs and Downtown Pub.
I'm just sorry guys that you had this bad experience in Recife.
