Remember - when buying gifts, it's the thought that counts! If you want to buy your host family a present, get something small that fits in your bag.
For your host parents, ideas include: small trinkets from your local gift shop (it may sound lame but again, it's a nice gesture!) or chocolate - duh.
For your host kids: anything that is fun and in English - we wished we had bought more native language presents for our host kids. Whether it's games or books, it's a great way to teach the language!
Let us know what you're planning to buy for your host family (or what you bought!) We always need new ideas - thinking about it, a tea towel for a new family probably isn't the best idea!
Yet again, we are awed by your support and want to say a HUGE thank you for watching.
Please SUBSCRIBE, LIKE and SHARE with any future au pairs you may know. We put out new videos every week! We'll love you forever.
If you're soon to be an au pair in Paris (or anywhere else!) let us know in the comments - we love hearing from you.
    Ciao for now! xo

I have binge watched your videos since I decided to au pair in Milan this summer :) JIC it seems like you guys aren’t making an impact because you don’t have a million subscribers: you 100% have made my au pair process so much easier ❤️

Thanks for another great video! You make it so easy to prepare for the au pair experience (even though I don't think you can even be fully prepared lol) :-) I get so excited watching your videos! Thank you, keep em coming!

Wow, books and cards are such a good idea! I'm gonna bring animal playing cards (snap/pairs) so it can help the kids learn English in a fun way. Thankyou! :)

Very good ideas and suggestions 😊 I got two really cute bottles, one Panda shaped and the other Cat shaped for my two girls, and since they have lunch at school they use them every day, so I'm quite proud of my gift idea 😎 do you have any suggestions on how to respond and react to a subtle, rude phrase of the kids? Sometimes 10/9 year old girls can be quite moody and I'm not good at being strict 😅

hey, your videos have been really helpful to me as i'm going on my first aupair experience near paris very soon.
i'll be with a family with 3 boys, but only looking after the youngest one (10). i'm wondering what sorts of gifts i could get for them, as they are older boys and i'm not completely familiar with all their interests yet! do you have any suggestions?
also- i will be cooking for the boys on weekdays when the parents come home late. do you have any ideas what i should be cooking? i'm not sure if i'm expected to cook up some supreme french five star buffet or ... lmao i have no idea

love your channel it has helped so much with my planning to be an au pair (only 3 months till my flight ahh) QUESTION THO, you talk a lot about being poor lol, which I totally get on an au pair salary, BUT how much money do you think would be a comfortable amount to go with?

I am going to au pair for the first time this summer, in the UK! (I am from Norway). The kids are a bit older, 10 and 12, and I was wondering if you have any tips on activities that could be fun to do with the boys!

Hi Hanna! Thanks for your reply :D I'll be staying just outside of Basingstoke. Luckily, they have nerf guns, haha! Maybe we could have water fights in the garden. Would you suggest bringing a board game from my own country, as a gift? Love your videos btw! They are super helpful

As someone who practices a zero waste lifestyle I personally struggled to find a well rounded purposeful gift for the entire family that will actually be valued and used. I personally get more offended when I'm gifted things I don't need or want, maybe that's an American cultural thing. I ended up settling on local food items, such as honey, coffee, tea and chocolate.

you get offended... because you didn’t get a gift you wanted?? I’m a vegetarian and all about zero waste and sustainability but come on man that’s so butt hurt

I just want to say thank your both for your awesome videos, they surely have been helpful on my journey to becoming an au pair. You have made the process so much easier for persons like myself out there that are completely clueless.
After searching for about 4 months, I have finally found a family that is willing to host me. Yeah, it can be pretty rough when you're a guy.
The family I'm expected to be hosted by wants to have a contract of four months in the first instance. They do have the intention of extending the stay once everyone is happy. That's mainly because they've had good as well as bad experiences with their past au pairs. So they want to make sure that I'll be a good fit first. However my contract would have 4 months written on it. I was wondeirng if that would not allow me to get a visa that is valid for a year when applying, and just get isssued one for 4 months instead by the embassy. I'm concerned because I'd really like to stay the year; whether it be with that same family or not.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Continue being awesome ladies, you are surely an inspiration.
