I am an actor and content creator with Hollywood credits including roles on Lucifer (Netflix), Starlight Christmas (Hallmark), JT Leroy (Universal Studios), etc. In this channel, I offer insight to Kpop performances using my 10+ years of training in dance, acting, singing and overall performance. In dance, my forte are contemporary and musicals and have done most of my performances in theatre. Although my channel is mostly known for dance analysis, I am currently inactive in the dance community.

i think Karina was instructed to bend lower in the 'Im a Savage' part bec she's the tallest member and she has to level with others

@@Emily_fanai it’s sad tho like isn’t that uncomfortable for them to do that? Sowon from Gfriend was the tallest member and they never did that to her and they were still synchronized and their choreo looked great.
No. She was really trying to bend a little for the emphasis of the choreo. If you’re a dancer, you’ll also really want to emphasize that step coz it look stiff when standing upright.
@@jovenaceron5849 Sooyoung and Yoona (taller members in SNSD) have mentioned several times that they had to bend lower to level out the height difference in the group. So this is definitely a possibility. And often, there can be more than one purpose in doing so. So I feel both points can apply here.
(and to add, that can also be a reason why the shorter members do not bend too low as that would increase the gap in height difference)

Winter’s charisma is the best for me. And Karina can be such an underrated main dancer. People crapping on her dancing already need to watch this. She’s skilled!
Performers like Jeff who have had dancing experience, praising Karina's moves are all we need to hear! Too many trolls who don't know a thing about the styles, rhythms, bodyline, techniques of the dances talk too much and showed their ignorance ( I swear they think Popping is the only measure of a wonderful dancer)

I remember karina said rather than doing the same with their dance they prefer to show their own groveness and swag with savage. Maybe thats why they present the dance differently
If I'm not mistaken, the steps in the beginning of the chorus were choreographed by Bailey Sok. Now she's 17 years olds, but when she was 15 she also choreographed part of Red Velvet' Psycho

were choreographed by kasper , who choreographed most of Taemin's songs like Advice,Criminal etc, and Rozalin, who also choreographed most of the parts in Next level!

Hey Jeff! I've been waiting forever for this huhu. You should try watching the live performance of this where WINTER IS WEARING A PINK SHORT so you could see more how good her dancing is. That "thigh" part? Winter owns that part everytime swear. AESPA IS SO GOOD!!!
Winter is so good with popping like swear, you should watch fancams where WInter is wearing like not so heavy costume if u get what I mean and you will see how crazy it is and why I say WINTER OWNS THAT THIGH PART CHORUS everytime.

@@aura-bj4wr Karina in dance is the best. This is her cup of tea and you can not even see in her face that she is trying / focusing on her body. It just flows. When the other girls are fighting and their faces are asking for help sometimes. In term of dance, it's always Karina.

The fact that SM introduced Karina as aespa's main dancer, it has a reason. Maybe her dance is not the best in 4st kpop gg gen, but definitely the best in aespa.

My personal preference is Winter's dance style. IMO, Karina and Winter are a really complementary dance duo. I'd love to see them doing something that focuses solely on dance together.
they already had a black mamba intro and Karina dominated Winter too much. I'm afraid it might be the same now. they are very different from each other, it's not a lot like Seulgi x Irene but Lisa x Rose. Lisa has moves big, sharp and clean like Karina, and Winter is more like fluidity then sharp and more smooth like Rose. such connections do not go well. if NingNing improved (although her technique ... idk) it would be more suitable for Karina's companionship. it would be like Lisa x Jennie and it would be more synchro. Winter is weak in energy, when Karina can bring out incredible strength with the smallest detail. it's just not a good duo. unless it would be something free, with a slow pace. but Karina is not the type of dancer who will do well in something like that. she needs something fast, self-interpreting and intense.
@@asorethroat1237 Personally, I think Lisa is in a league of her own actually XD Lisa is Lisa. As for BM intro at SMTOWN and Gayo Daejeon, it's a choreo for 4 people, not 2. I feel things would be different with a choreo meant specifically for a duo rather than a group of 4. When it comes to performances, opinions tend to be quite subjective and different. The way I see it, if a choreo could tap on their strengths and intelligently utilise them, it could be even more interesting as a performance piece compared to two kinda similar type of dancers. It all depends on the direction and concept of the choreo.
@@popkmacnaf There is no such thing as "your own league" in your predispositions in dance and the way your stamina works. Some dancers just give more strength to certain movements and make big movements with the work of their limbs.
As I said, Winter does not do well in choreographies that require endurance in motion, clean and sharp moves, when your body requires upper body control, great movements at a fast pace. She doesn't do it smoothly, loses angles and shortens her movements because her limbs aren't as long as Karina's (you can see in dance break for example). it's just not her cup of tea. she has her predispositions presented differently than Karina and they are not able to shine together with the same choreography. especially since Karina's skills are still more. Winter suits me for something artistic that expresses emotions and feelings with the body. something feminie. Karina is more between a feminine and a masculine sense. because her strength and style allows her to do so even if her body lines scream ballet, and in addition, she herself seems to have better fun with male choreographies and is more oriented in them than in choreographies of female girls.

Winter’s speciality is on her popping that’s why she’s executed it so well.
Jeff is so comfortable with his reactions. The way he bases his opinions on dance practice only is retail, and he sees every little move and how it is made. In Karina's case, I really needed it because no one is talking about it and she really is skilled asf.

I personally sometimes just want to see your reaction to the dance then an analysis because the order seems to flow nice. I like winter dance
Argh!! I really love how a dancer has the same feelings as the other dancer. As a dancer too, I’m always bothered by the uprightness in the pre-chorus. Like it really cannot emphasize the movement so whenever I try to dance this part, I really try to get a little bit lower.
He also noticed that Winter does the best on the first parts of the song. And the way she moves in the “now, everybody mock up to me”. She was great in that.
That footwork isn’t easy as well especially if you have not much control of your body. And I think Karina does it best while moving backwards. That was really satifying to watch.
And He noticed how Karina does it differently on the chorus. Like she executed the choreo better (I might get roasted but she really is). Like she adds a little more emphasis on her shoulders. I know he said the upper body should be stiff but like, there’s a little movement that you should be doing with your shoulder and upper body to add emphasis on the choreo.
And that there’s a lot of fckin’ isolation in the choreo!!
Overall, the choreo is not a typical choreo you’d see in a lot of girl groups. And aespa pulling such choreo is definitely awesome!! 👏
