    Hey thanks for providing such great information on your channel. I’m learning heaps. Really appreciate the lack of “click bait” when compared to other coffee channels. Just great detailed info. Glad I found you 👍

    I never really liked the look of it from videos, but tried it at someone else's place and was surprised I did really like it. The punch is satisfying. Only downside is that coffee seems to get stuck under the tamping area,, but can be cleaned out easy. Oh and the adjustment washer / key rattles, I think I found a solution for that adding a rubber washer so it has less space to move.
    I wonder if they could add a 51mm and 49mm base option for classic lever machines.

    It's great how you can adjust the tamper pressing pressure. How can I measure how many pounds of pressure the tamper is working with? How did you set up your The Force Tamper? Maximum pressure or perhaps minimum pressure.

      @PanzerIV88 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Someone said in the comments to press it against a human scale so it tells you how much lbs of pressure is being applied, otherwise no way to tell!

    This tamper is cool and could really help with consistency and speed. The problem with palm tampers (I use one) is if youplace it on the coffee mound at an angle first, it'll push the grinds to the other side making that side a little denser. The distribution thing though might introduce channeling with the tiny rakes putting holes on the tamped puck.

    Hey there. Thanks for your review. I also own the tamper and I like it pretty much. The only things I dont like are : you dont know the adjustment of the tamper....you have to use a scale und push to find out to how many lbs it is set. I currently use it out of the box which should be around 15-20lbs? Second thing I dont like is that the coffee grounds get under the plate. Note a big deal you simply have to use a brush to clean it. All in all nice product besides the fact that you dont know the tamping force....

    What I love about this is no matter whether my girlfriend or I make espresso the puck will tamped consistently.

  • @3eggerfpv397
    @3eggerfpv397 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What's never explained is this appears to gain pressure with a pretty light touch and then shoot the actual tamper end to the puck? I've watched him use this over many videos, but have no clue how the mechanism works?!! I will say it seems he.puts very little effort in hand pressure to achieve a tight puck;

    why would I need this tamper over my $40 spring loaded tamper that is set for 30 lbs of pressure? I like your tamping station. What is it and where can I get it?

  • @johnwilliamson9453

    I’ve used mine for over a year and I like it overall. What I don’t like is that it seems sensitive to getting grounds between the outer alignment ring and the back of the tamper plate. That causes it to mis-fire, or not impact the coffee bed. It’s also a bit difficult to change out the tamper profiles. Overall it a pretty ingenious design.

    • @movoyemickele
      @movoyemickele 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you always clean the back of the tamper plate and the alignment ring every time after you use it? What kind of maintenance have you been doing to make it keep working after a year? I just bought it today despite feeling afraid from seeing negative comments on Amazon, they said the force tamper stopped working after using it for weeks.

    • @johnwilliamson9453
      @johnwilliamson9453 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@movoyemickele I still use mine daily. What I have realized is that it needs to be cleaned of grounds every other day. It’s pretty easy, but not what I expected. Sometimes it won’t “fire” and when that occurs, it’s time to clean it. There is prbably no way around it since the grounds are so fine, just something to know.

      @@movoyemickele No, just slide the leveling ring up enough to get a brush in there (see video @ about 1:10). You could also use some compressed air, but might want to do that outside! ;)

    Should be 53.3 not 53mm for the precise fit for breville. How do I know? I had all my tools bought at 53mm and I recently bought a new sets of tools at 53.3mm (distributor, tamp, puck screen etc) they're would fit exactly how I wanted no space to wiggle.

    • @PanzerIV88
      @PanzerIV88 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's proven by James Hoffman that if you apply between 10-30lbs of pressure there's like no gain/benefit. The most important isn't to reach the classic old "30lbs rule" but way more to be consistent and have the same same pressure everytime or if you switch user.

    i have the force tamper and its kind of nice but i returned it for a couple of reason, 1st theres no way to verify and adjust the punch, even turning the screw, how do you really know. 2nd it sits on your portafilter but if you move it sideways it will go right in it. the top should be larger. so i decided to return it and i ought compak cub tamp. th-cam.com/video/3iI-uIeWros/w-d-xo.html
