@@Skeijeindi You'd be surprised how many subscribers I have met on the streets here. They always say "what are the chances, millions of people and I'm running into you!" It's probably because I frequent downtown a lot, and also the pyramids sometimes to film videos
I heard the airport officers rob foreigners and Egyptians as well, a lot of beggars and scammers everywhere. Sexual harassment and no cameras without permission from the police. There are many videos on TH-cam about this.
I was in Egypt last week for three days in downtown Cairo, I was traveling alone, and walked a lot in the downtown area alone, I never felt any danger. I believe it is a safe place. Of course, I'm a male. I'm not sure for females, but they people in Egypt are very nice.
Coming to Egypt in 2 weeks. I can't wait. It's my first trip outside my home country in Australia. Im 46, joining a tour group and Im sure Ill be safe. Thanks for all your informative videos.
That's exciting, wow! It's going to be an unforgettable experience, and probably a good idea to join a group tour just to make things easier to navigate the country. Definitely safe, and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. Welcome to Egypt! ❤️🇪🇬
Wow! That's a pretty amazing first trip. Although being from Australia, you're always going to be traveling quite a distance unless you stay in Southeast Asia 🌏 My family is from Argentina, and the flight from NYC is 11 hours direct to Buenos Aires. We're from Mendoza, so that's another one hour and 45 minutes to their local airport. I would love to go to Egypt. Enjoy.
My wife and I been in Egypt twice and we enjoyed it very much. Safety, food people. In fact we just came from Istanbul, Turkey and we had very bad experiences. We have been scammed many times from the Taxi, restaurants, hotels etc. if they found that you from USA they will have a feast with you. Food is funny you would be lucky if you get spoon , napkins, etc with your meals. We appreciated Egypt more after our visit to Turky.
Wow, a lot of people seem to have had a bad time in Turkey regarding scams, judging from the amount of likes on your comment, I'm surprised! I didn't personally get scammed much in Turkey, but I guess I am quite meticulous with my money and spending and check everything 😅 Anyways, very happy to hear you enjoyed your time in Egypt ❤️
from an Egyptian who has been living abroad for more than 10 years, I am really happy that you found your rythm in Egypt and are enjoying its postives :D
I fucken love your channel, it has grown so much!! i visited Egypt twice already and will visit again this coming March and all because of you, i also fell in love with Egypt.
My wife and I will be touring Egypt and Jordon for two months. We have experience travelling but we were somewhat concerned about the war in Gaza/Lebanon and how it may effect our trip. I thank you for the current information regarding safety and putting our minds at ease in this area. We spent some time in Morocco and the vendors soliciting potential customers can get annoying but keep a perspective from their point of view. They are trying to support their families as well and they are just trying to make a living. Capitalism at its finest. Very excited for our upcoming trip because we have watched many of your videos in preparation and planning. Thank you.
Yes exactly, I always just try to view it from their perspective as well. Especially as someone who has done street sales (in the tourism sector) for years, I can completely relate to that kind of job. People are rude to them, it's competitive, they are standing out in the elements all day, it's not easy work, really. And as you said, they are just trying to make a living; it's really not the end of the world just because someone is trying to stop you, EVEN if they are trying to charge you more than you should be paying. There are worse things out there. Some patience and empathy is a good thing to possess, anywhere in the world. Happy to hear my videos have been proving useful to you, and welcome to Egypt! ❤️🇪🇬
If u're blond then prepare urself to be viewed as Elon Musk 😂 the filthy rich foreigner n expect to be expected to pay as one If ur wife is blonde , she'll have to cover more n dress modestly , we're Egyptians n my daughter is blonde ( not veiled alas!) but she's always have a large scarf aroud her neck and/or a long cardigan until she reaches her destination . But people will celebrate u like movie stars🤷♀️ . If u're brown like us then u're saved n u'll blend in just fine until u open ur mouthes😂 but they'll be merciful of u . Have a lovely trip I think Jordanians are much calmer people, generally more sophisticated n better educated n much more composed , they are 5 or 10 milions something , Egyptians are 100 millions🤪 Good luck
If u're blond expect to be viewed as Elon Musk😅 , the filthy rich foreigner n expect to be expected to pay more so try to enjoy the overprice but be aware at the pyramids , we're trying to get rid of those people but somehow they don't go away. If ur wife is blonde then she needs to cover more n dress modestly, we are native but my daughter is blonde ( she's not veiled alas!) whenever she goes out she's having a large scarf on her neck and/or a long cadigan on until she reaches her destination But u'll be both celebrated as movie stars🤷♀️ If u're brown like us then u're saved n u'll get by fine until u open your mouths😂 but they'll be more merciful . Enjoy ur trip I think Jordanians are calmer people , more sophisticated n educated they're certainly more composed but again they are 5 or 10 millions we Egyptians are 100 millions 🤪 Good luck
@@Gventures If you are interested, we would like to hire you for a day or two to help us navigate Cairo/foody tour/Egypt 101. I look forward to a response.
Another outstanding and straight forward guide. If you are a visitor this is the best guide you can get as a visitor. I am coming to Egypt for over 20 years. I do not speak the language well. I loved it here and I am living here now full-time. As a tourist you will visit touristic locations. This will expose you and attract vendors and baggers. Your safety is very serious for all Egyptians. If by accident you feel uncomfortable feel free to ask for help. People are proud to be of any kind of assistance. Big thank you to Gisselle.
This is a great video! Thank you for explaining how Egypt is for travellers. I first went to Egypt over a year ago. I was scammed and verbally harassed. I'm a bit of a softy and probably not as experienced. So it was a shock for me. However, this was in Luxor, where many tourists are. And as you say, not all Egyptians are like this. I now live in Jordan, and I meet many Egyptians working here. One time, I happened to be walking through a natural valley in Jordan and came across a group of Egyptian men working on a farm. As soon as they saw me, they stopped their work and offered me their lunch, which I greatly appreciated. They were so generous and friendly. And I'll never forget their hospitality. ❤
Went on a 17-day group tour of Egypt with Overseas Adventure Travel in March 2023, and honestly felt safer than I do in my hometown of Eugene, Oregon, where on two recent separate occasions a woman was raped in broad daylight on jogging trails near the city. Agreed regarding "verbal" harassment by vendors and kids trying to sell stuff, just annoying and easily ignored. Physical security was top-notch. It was a spectacular trip and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend folks travel to Egypt, it's a wonderous place indeed!
@@marwaqoura7804 Thank you, it was wonderful trip, especially the two dinners we had with local families, a middle class one in Cairo, the other a farming family on the west bank of Luxor.
"Put scam in the title and everyone will watch" SO TRUE! I recently watched a vlog of a guy who went to Egypt and complained about everything, but it was quite obvious he was already expecting the worst. He even said, he never really wanted to go to Egypt. It is so sad to me that people think this way. It is one reason I LOVE your videos. You show the good and the bad that you can find in any place. I love how much Egyptians are PROUD of being Egyptians. I wish we had that pride more prevalently in the USA. Thank you for another great video!!!
Hi Giselle! Love all your videos. My sister and I will be in Egypt next week, and we were a little worried about everything going in the Middle East. Thank you for making these videos, they definitely help provide us great insight into Egyptian life and gave us a bit more peace of mind. 😁🙏
Although all the countries that share borders with Egypt have unrest, Egypt is safe, God willing, and no one can cross the line with Egypt. Welcome to Egypt at any time, always safe.❤
Hey girly, how was it, I’m going to Cairo alone as a single female. So worried because it’s “level 3” travel advisory. I wasn’t worried until my family pointed it out
Very good informative video.. you were very fair and helpful .. thank you for your uploading videos from my country to the whole world.. you were one of the reason I decided to retired in Egypt after long time living abroad..
You give off an air of self confidence and fearlessness which helps protect you from those wishing to bring you harm. There's a lot we can do to keep ourselves safe when traveling, and the rest is just luck of the draw. I had my wallet stolen in China that was 100% preventable and my fault. All part of the travel experience. Have a great week! 😊
Yeah, and I forgot to mention that in the video because I got distracted talking about Vietnam or something, unbelievable! I can't believe I forgot to mention I got it back! Kind of relevant for a video talking about safety 😆🤦♀️
Great video! I also had the same experience. Traveled solo there for 2 weeks and had a great time. I felt very safe at sites, in Ubers and on the streets as well.
As an Egyptian , I appreciate your impartial opinion. Thank you for the video.I don’t mind being interviewed on Camera ; feel free to reach out to me whenever you start making these interviews . Beggars are a pain in the ass for us locals too , vendors not as much
Oh really?! I would love to include you in that video then! I am not sure when I plan to film it, probably not for a few months at least since I am traveling soon, but can I ask you again when I am getting ready to film it...?
@@nermeenragab1055 Thank you so much!!! Perhaps you can message me on IG just so we have each other's contact info. My IG is: mygventures Thanks again Nermeen! ❤🙏
Great video Gisselle! I 💯 agree with your point of view, everything will depend on your attitude, I mean verbal harassment is something that will never end and happens all over the planet 😂😂 here in Latin America is the same so, as long as they don’t try to touch you or do anything else it’s ok we just ignore 👍🏻 I still have the feeling that Egypt is more safe compared to South American countries you just have to see the news in Mexico Peru or Colombia is crazy 🥴 I wouldn’t be afraid to go to Egypt, of course we have to get as much information as possible about the country!…. Really like this video and I say thanks for your content that helps A LOT!!! You are real and honest without putting down the beauty and the positive side of Egypt ❤❤ stay safe girl 😘🤗
Thanks you so much for your videos in support of egypt and showing how safe it is to visit . Am egyptian , lives in NY , doing my medical fellowship in gastroeneterolohy after graduating from NY college of medicine . Love it here in NY as i meet a lottttt of nice welcoming people here as well . Thanks a lot for all your videos showing hospitality of Egyptians and hope to see one day when i visit family in egypt.
I felt safe when over there in may this year. I was fine the local mal. safe. Did try to cover up a bit when I was out and my head was covered too. Great video as always Gigi x
I always felt much safer in Egypt than in Rome, for example, where groping seems to be a national sport on crowded buses. That was many years ago - and I think anyone attempting to do that to me now is in dire need of either a comprehensive eyesight test, or a white stick. Highly informative video that I would definitely agree with regarding Egypt. I never felt the need for a guide there. Another good one, Giselle!
You are 100 percent right about how peoples’ experiences and perceptions can color how they think about something. And as you say, it is key to be respectful of the cultures of where you travel. An excellent video, thank you!
Twenty five years ago I travelled to Egypt as a single female and never felt unsafe - annoyed at times but not unsafe. Next month I will return and bring my family to experience the wonders and beauty of Egypt.
Hola Giselle! My wife and I were there in a group tour a few weeks ago and we loved it! You mentioned Police care about safety for tourists, I don’t know if it’s mandatory (‘cause our tour guide didn’t seem very pleased about it), but everywhere we went we had an armed police agent with us in the bus and walking as we toured. That made us feel safe. But we also went out on our own (I asked you for recommendations on a restaurant) and did not feel unsafe. My wife did feel uneasy for men staring at her or saying things as you mentioned, but she never felt unsafe. Thank you for all your advice and for making these great videos!
Lol yeah I don't love the escorts myself, I had to deal with that a lot when traveling across the country on my motorcycle 😆 Did you ever go to any of those restaurants, what was it....Sobhy Kaber? Thanks so much for your comment! ❤️🙏
@@Gventures I don’t remember the name, but it was on n the Nike for fatta. But it was not good, maybe bad luck but nobody spoke good English, took forever to place the order, no bread and the fatta wasn’t good. We had it a different day in a different place and it was delicious!
I am in egypt right now, searching youtube for a video like yours. The majority just multiply the anxiety I felt from the culture shock i had when i got here saturday... your video gave me so much peace that i feel less scared from something i apparently did not need to be scared of. Even today i went to the pyramids and GEM and i absolutely loved it! (With a guide eheh) My major fear might be the transportation i need that i did not arrange with the travel agency. I took three ubbers and all were good! But i still feel some kind of unease... Tomorrow i.ll go to alexandria! Thank you for your words and video. Really, i mean it ❤
Thanks so much SonDConde, that's great to hear that my videos have helped ease your concerns 🙏 And enjoy Alexandria! I love that city, so beautiful, rich in culture, and fun to explore! ❤️
Again very helpful vlog for tourists or people who are thinking to visit Egypt.. so thanks Gigi for your honesty and effort.. as an Egyptian i would say if you're surrounded with people then you're totally safe its truth btw Egyptians will never let anyone harm you when they are around you! We always help even if you did not ask for help but yes if you feel unsafe or got harassed and you can't handle it ask anyone around you for help and they will definitely help!
Hi GG I just got back from a guided tour in Egypt. We had security on the coach with us in Cairo just for added safety which they have been doing for years. Once we got to Luxor on the cruise we had no security just tour guide. I can honestly say at no time in my 7th time there have I ever felt unsafe. It’s a beautiful country that has had issues over there yrs just like here in the uk. I have heard them say things to me like Nubian, brown sugar and other things. I pay them no mind even though it is a lot and annoying. But and no time have I ever felt threatened. But that is my opinion because I’m pretty good at putting up a barrier shield. They did have a lot of undercover tourist police which, and I thought they were so good. Egypt just gets a lot of bad press when anything happens. Great video as always ❤
Yeah the security here is a lot. Always lots of undercover around. Actually I personally think the armed escorts (and escorts in general) is way too much, it's not dangerous here and is kind of a waste of resources imo, but I guess it's good that it makes visitors more comfortable and secure. I hated it when I was solo driving across the country on my motorcycle 🤣
My sister and I coming in a couple weeks.. we love to travel different countries.. we have been watching your awesome videos and your honesty! Will be looking for you!
Another informative video, thank you. When I was in Egypt in 2010 I found the country far more organized and cleaner than I remember it when I was previously there in 1972. When I told my relatives back in Toronto how impressed I was, I was told by my own kinfolk that I was misguided because I had stayed in Heliopolis and that Heliopolis was not emblematic of the country. As I watch your video as you stroll through Cairo I have to ask myself, is Egypt really a third world country? I did not see a single homeless encampment, a single beggar panhandling on the street. I did not see a lineup at a food bank or multitudes lining up to apply for a single job. Egypt certainly doesn’t have a problem with immigration and mass migration. I am starting to think that western countries like Canada, the United States and Europe are the third world or quickly becoming so.
Hmm...well obviously I can't make any comparisons with 1972 and 2010. But I think I may have to agree with your relatives that Heliopolis is not exactly emblematic of the rest of the country or even the rest of the cities. There are a few bubbles or pockets like this around Egypt. In Cairo I would say Zamalek, Heliopolis, and Maadi are a bit of a bubble when compared to other parts of the city. Further away in Greater Cairo you have the satellite cities such as Sheikh Zayed, 6th of October, New Cairo, etc. Also bubbles, and not representative of what most of Egypt is like (from my short experience living here in Cairo for just 3 years, and traveling around the country exploring on my motorcycle as well). Further south you have Al Gouna, up north you have the North Coast. All of these places are like a bubble within a bubble. Gated communities and compounds, expensive shops, big fancy malls. But that doesn't exist everywhere, in fact most of Egypt is not like those areas. Just my personal opinion though, obviously I don't know everything about Egypt. But many Egyptians I know say this too. I am almost always filming in downtown Cairo, which is an area kind of unto it's own as well...If you watch some of my older motorcycle vlogs when I was traveling across the country you will see the difference. And as I make more driving videos in different neighborhoods here in Cairo, perhaps the difference will become more stark. You may have not noticed the beggars, but, well....they are around. And there is certainly an immigration issue here, just one visit to the immigration office in Al Abbasseya might change your mind, or hearing some Egyptians complain about immigrants here, mainly from Sudan, but also other areas as well. I am an immigrant myself, I don't like to get involved in politics or issues like this that I know little about and don't feel qualified or apt to speak about as I am not from here and am not a citizen, but just informing you that it does exist. I am not trying to paint Egypt in a negative way, but I am also not trying to paint a picture that it is all sunshine and rainbows either. I just want to be honest and point some of these things out to you.
Great video as always. I’m going to Cairo next week and am really looking forward to it. I was in Istanbul last year and the hassle there was quite bad.. so hoping I’m prepared for Egypt! 😆
Heheh. I think it's definitely more here, but Istanbul was a good taste for what's to come 😅 It's still a lot of fun here though, and I'm sure you'll have a great time. Lots of nice people as well, and great food, and beautiful music, and of course the history 🇪🇬
Great video love that it is honest n positive. Seriously dislike those negative blogs people make, think they go out of their way to find trouble just so they can film it. Anyway was also really nice filmed while walking around the streets. With a very few exceptions I believe Egypt very safe, Egyptian people helpful n tespectful n the culture wonderful. Inshallah, I will be there in cpl days.
Lol I completely I agree, I think some of those vloggers go looking for trouble too 🤣 The way they get excited if they get any kind of possible interaction on camera, it's too obvious they were just waiting and hoping for it.
Im a new fan. Thank you for your mature perspectives on the world and for being so real. Nice to experience a more grown up traveller who is far less interested in doing things for the gram!
I’ve made the decision to visit once I’ve caught up on most of your videos! Now I feel like I have a good understanding of Egypt. I just love the way you interact with people-it’s so impressive! Thank you for all the amazing information, especially for those of us seeking a budget friendly trip. Now it’s time for me to book the hotel and flight. Ya Allah, I can’t wait!
My pleasure noufalism, happy to hear you're planning a trip! This country is so incredible, I fall in love with some new aspect every day or simply cherish what I already have, it's beautiful. Glad I can share the little bit I've learned while here and make other people's experiences hopefully a little more enriching, understandable or easier. Thanks again, and welcome to Egypt ❤️🇪🇬
Well said Gisselle. Love your content so much. As an Egyptian living here I haven't even done half the things you've done here. I love the fact that you have so much to talk to about, good and bad, and I wish I could run into you one day here
I've honestly decided to go to Egypt after watch your videos and another TH-camr. I'm coming in January and excited! 🎉 thanks always for your perspective!
As an Egyptian I really enjoyed your video, thank you so much for your honest review! it's always cool to see this kind of videos ❤ I wish everyone visiting Egypt a nice time. ❤ As someone who loves walking for hours and exploring different places I enjoyed this video so much!
Interesting perspective I hope Egypt continues to stay safe. Back then I Know in the 60s they had a war between Israel with tanks. And in 73 Egypt retaliation, in the desert, and across the Suez Canal. And now with wars in the more wars in the Middle East. I hope Egypt doesn't get involved in it. British tanks were also in Israel the Centurion. I like all histories from all types of Perspectives.
Nice video! I hope people don't concentrate on the negative only. I was in egypt for 6 weeks a few months and felt completely safe. I am an older guy who cultivated an Egyptian look so managed to avoid lots of the touts. My only mistake was being the first person in line at the valley of the kings. Nowhere to hide! I just left India and Egypt seems like Sweden in comparison.
I am egyptian who has been living in Australia for 10 years. Visiting egypt once every year. That is a fair and honest video. Your filming from streets in old Cairo like Garden city, maadi, old cbd (west elbalad), and where you receive verbal annoying comments, and may be verbal harrasments, is very transparent. I was eager to learn your perspective since you are an avid traveller, especially to where the crowds and the real people are. Not just the resorts and the fenced complexes. I love your work. You explore the true spirit of the places and the people.
Excellent video as usual and one of the most important topics which many visitors would need to know, I would like if you make the interview video, it would be great to publish locals and foreigners living in Egypt opinion's on such topics. love your videos, keep it up and be safe.
Yeah I absolutely intend to make this interview video at some point in the future. Like I said in the video, it might take a while to make, and I am going on several trips soon so I won't even start working on that till I return, but I definitely will in the future. Thanks so much Mohamed! 🙏
Just walking around by yourself while making video is a good proof for the safety of the country, I also see that you got alot of Egyptians culture like walking on the street not caring about passing by cars, speaking around with all passengers. By the way, there are more than 20 million refugees from all around Arab countries staying in Egypt because it is the safest country in the region.
That's awesome to hear, thank you! Egypt is a really cool country, there is SO much to see and do here, so much history of course, but the people are super fun too, the music is beautiful, the culture is very rich ❤️
Im mexican, i was travel solo since 2 weeks, i feel very safetly. Obvisusly take my precautions, but thanks Gigi because ü inspired me to feel confident with your videos.
Thank you Nancy, and bravo for taking the leap and going on an adventure! I applaud your strength and freedom girl! 👏👏 Very happy to hear you're having a good time and feel safe, have the best of times in Egypt! ❤️🇪🇬
Hey Giselle, great video agian. I must say I also truly believe that own mindset is very big thing. If you're also decided to not like it before you're traveling there of course you have that mindset ans in the end your trip is ruined. And not by Egypt or Egyptian. If someone has negative thoughts you will see everything in life negatively for sure. I never felt unsafe as I was there as an au pair. Used taxi and uber and never even thought that something could happen because I was in Egypt. Of course maybe some locals are not fan of tourists because maybe they just don't like that negative image that some people has brought of Egypt. Great country in my opinion :)
Hiii Giselle!! My husband and I always look forward to your videos❤ It makes him feel a little closer to home. He’s Egyptian and is always surprised as to how many new places you have shown and he didn’t know about. I hope you can one day make a video of Alexandria. The short time I lived there was my absolute favorite🥰😍 Maa el Salama!
Thanks Erikaas! I'm actually been to Alex a few times and made a few videos there. Here's a playlist. th-cam.com/play/PLSI2ywwuZ8MAVLfQPZrjJhyWmlDbmo72m.html They are quite old now, but I do plan to return again soon and film more, as there's a lot more I want to see! I love Alex ❤️
Very interesting video ,very useful informations ,will make lots of people trust in coming to visit Egypt Thank you Gisselle , I really appreciate that ❤❤❤
@@Gventures thank you. We heard 4 but we’ve had a couple different answers. We’ll be leaving for Cairo tomorrow morning. Thank you for getting back. You’re awesome helped a lot.
I'm here now. So far so good. The people are very nice and it's cleaner than I expected. After watching a dozen youtubers shitting on Egypt before I came my expectations were pretty low 😆.
Yeah like I said, it has a really bad rep on the internet, which does set many people's expectations or bar quite low. It's not as bad as it is portrayed by many people. Happy to hear you are having a good experience ❤️
As an Egyptian, that was informative and VERY accurate. If you ever get a chance, I recommend visiting Port Said. It is a small city on the mediterranean, and people here are super nice to tourists as we don't get many. Oct to Dec is a great time to visit. If you ever want help, I can recommend places here. It is much much quieter than Cairo but very special, and yes, Cairo is not for beginners for sure 🤣I am from Port Said and I struggle every time I visit it, so I can only imagine what it is like for tourists who don't know the local language and traditions. I always recommend going to Hurghada, Port Said, Sharm El-Sheikh, Luxor, Aswan or Alexandria first before heading to the captial just to adjust gradually to Egypt. But what happens is that people come from the airport to the pyramids which is FILLED with vendors and scammer and extremely hot if you are coming in summer. So they start on the wrong foot.
To avoid verbal harassment you had to wear modest in certain areas like the old Cairo but in modern areas like new Cairo you can wear normal clothes I know it’s annoying but you can avoid it like that even us as Egyptian girls we had to wear modest in old Cairo and in these areas want to tell u that i love old Cairo it’s beautiful and authentic ❤
I wear modest clothes and I am still harassed. I cover my shoulders, I usually wear a scarf around my neck that hangs in front of my chest area. I wear things below the knee and it's usually loose clothing. I wouldn't blame what a woman is wearing to be the reason for her harassment. Of course, wearing more clothing or covering up more can be HELPFUL to decrease harassment, you definitely shouldn't go walking around Cairo in a little sundress or shorts, but in the end the clothing that you are wearing doesn't stop harassment. I've seen girls in hijab and covered up a lot get harassed by guys plenty of times. I don't know how it is in the far flung satellite cities of New Cairo, October, Zayed, etc. because I never go there and I don't live there I live in Cairo, but as this video is about safety for tourists and travelers visiting Cairo, I assume most of them would not either. Most people stay in Cairo or Giza near the ancient sites, museums and attractions. There isn't much to do in the satellite cities and they are a far drive with lots of traffic.
One of the best vlogs I've watched on Egypt. Make vlogs on other cities in Egypt as well, not just Cairo. Visit Suez, my lovely small city. Visit there Port Tewfik, Kournesh, and Porto Sokhna (A resort). You'll enjoy these places a lot!
Thank you Hossam! I live in Cairo, and that is the reason why I have many videos about Cairo. But I have also taken buses around the country and made videos in places like Hurghada, Dahab and Siwa. I rode my motorcycle across the country 2 years ago and made videos in Minya, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel. Earlier this year I rode my motorcycle to the Fayoum Oasis and made videos there. And I will soon be taking another road trip to different cities and make more videos in other places as well. Eventually, I will also visit Port Said again (I've been once before but didn't film when I went) and make videos there too.
A safe country but just get good advice from a local on how to deal with scammers. Traffic is just a little too wild.. I used to drive on the emtiest streets in the world here 50 years ago.
Oh, I'm the wrong person to ask, I don't like shopping and rarely buy souvenirs. Popular souvenirs that tourists buy are statues, oils and papyrus. You could also buy different things like a tawla board (backgammon), rugs, spices, shisha. If I do buy anything in a country, I buy a scarf. It's practical and doesn't take up much space. I have scarves from all over the world now 😅
Your videos help me a lot when I visited Egypt with my wife from 1 -17 Oct. It was safe. I don't consider the hustlers as a threat as they willingly go away if you ignore them. Transport was easy and cheap with Uber. I go to streets even at night till 12am..! I am considering another visit next year. 17 days was not enough....
Lol, that's awesome, thank you so much Azmanaj 🙏 And indeed many people say the same, it is not enough time. I think that is why there are so many repeat visitors to Egypt. There is just so much to see and do. That, and it's a magical country, I find it addicting somehow...
Egypt is beautiful, the people are so friendly and caring they are most kindest people iv ever met. I was in Hurghada twice this year and Cairo in August, i fell in love with Egypt. Im returning next year without a doubt. I love ur channel, ur such a cool person and i admire how u go to the markets haha 😂😂😂 xxx
I'm still leary after watching and reading some of the other things that I've seen. But after watching this video I'm starting to feel better. I really want to visit, but I want to be safe too. Thank you for sharing sharing 🙏
ive noticed that recently many egypt haters comment on your content negatively.. i believe they dont LIke the objective info you present ...either for subjective reasons/personal experience or whatever..the more your channel will gain popularity the more you will get that... keep on the good work
Honestly, I've found all your videos very valuable because so many bloggers and vloggers are alarmist about Egypt, then they complain about things I knew from reading guidebooks at age 12. I hope that I'm about 10 years away from my trip. I'd kind of like to make Egypt my home base like you have--I've mentioned it to you before, but I'm just one voice in a crowd, I'm sure--and come and go from Alexandria. That would give me a beach at home and, having been in Classical Studies, Alexandria just suits me. I expect to be late 50s/early 60s by then. Hopefully, all the young men will have calmed down, but if not, I've also been dealing with that since I was 12. Ain't nothing but a thing, as they used to say. 😂 I promised my dog if it's just her and me, that we'll go to Albania together. I read that many breeds became illegal in Egypt in the summer of 2023 and most require expensive licensing. Although she's only about 8 lbs, she's not on the list of the safe breeds. So Egypt will have to wait for me because the pups come first. What put this in my head...I read a book where a 20-something was working in the US to feed her travel habit. I thought I should have done that in my 20s. Then it hit me that I'm looking at a very hard time in the near future and maybe selling up everything afterward and going is a good idea. I'll need it then.
Hi! Thank you so much for sharing yr thoughts and experiences, very helpful. I’m about to travel to Egypt for the first time and thinking abt safety and culture awareness: do u think it would make my time easier (less attention) if I wear a headscarf? I’m not muslim but don’t mind really Just curious if u think it will make a difference in my day to day or it doesn’t matter cause they can tell I’m foreign and perhaps attract even more attention..? Thank you so much in advance!
You might draw less attention. Honestly I can't be sure, because I've never worn the hijab. Try it out and let me know! I think you will get less stares and be noticed a bit less. Once you start speaking of course it own't matter, but for just walking around and people not looking closely, it might draw a tad less curiosity.
I was like I recognise where you're walking then I saw the BGLS bus 😄 I went to BGLS as a child and lived in that area as a child for a few years. You're in one of the busiest areas in Cairo 😄 Glad you're enjoying your time 🙏🏻
Yes I'm very central here in Cairo while walking around recording this. I don't think this is the busiest area though, to be honest. Downtown is active, but not extremely crowded (unless we are talking about at night during Ramadan 😅). I would say in Ramses or near Ataba it is much more crowded. As seen in this microbus video: th-cam.com/video/mK0wUQcpmG0/w-d-xo.html Or Ataba video: th-cam.com/video/u2T2Deiwdo4/w-d-xo.html Thanks, I do love living here. 3 years and forward. Allatul Masr! ❤️🇪🇬
A more interesting question is whether there are places in Cairo you should not go any way? And is it alright to go walking from the Downtown to the Old Cairo on foot? Or in Giza for example? (I ask before watching)
I think it's safe to walk from downtown to Old Cairo or into Giza, definitely. But the question is, would you want to? It's quite a long distance, so the weather better be nice 😅 I pretty much answer your question in the video though
I am an expat in the land down under. I haven't been home for over 8 years, but your channel makes me feel like I am back home ❤. I appreciate your sincerity, and I am always happy to watch your adventures. Thank you.
Hey, I'm from Taiwan, which is also a pretty safe country! (You can even leave your phone on the table while going to the bathroom, haha). I'll be visiting Egypt with my friends in November, and your video really helped ease my worries. Thank you!!
Oh yes, I've heard Taiwan is a very safe country, and I would love to visit some day! Happy to hear my video has helped ease any concerns, and thanks for watching Tin! Welcome to Egypt 😊🇪🇬
I had zero problems when i was there in 2003, maybe the most difficult part was crossing some big roads haha! And i was lucky in one instance because i was sitting in front seat of a taxi and i didnt realize that i dropped my wallet after paying him but the driver gave it back to me when i was shutting the door! 🙏
You showed great examples of safety like cat 🐈 calling But as you said in NYC cat calling and even groping is infamous, father more snatching your gold or pocket book Rape also is happening in NYC

Gisselle From this video, you do another video. As Giselle herself You answer this question “Why I fell in love with Egypt 🇪🇬 and decided to stay?” You might be interested in an episode with this title?
Ahaha oh you saw that? Lol yeah he was a subscriber and messaged me asking to meet up, I figured why not, I had some time. Asked me if he could film and again, why not? Lol. He was nice, and that's how I first met Mo! (microbus video guy)
another great video, all this is very true. one question, what visa do you have to stay so long in egypt? Visas are very controlled in egypt and it is not easy to extend them beyond 6 months
Actually, lots of tourists extend their visa past 6 months. They just keep renewing, if they want to stay a long time and explore. I don't have a tourist visa anymore, but what kind of visa I am on now I consider private information so I won't be sharing that, sorry! But you can look into it online, there are many different ways to stay depending on your reasons, situation, etc.
I just came home from a round trip in Egypt. 8 days long. It was very safe. Last year 4 days trip was safe as well.
That's great to hear, thanks for your input! That is what I hear from so many travelers (and repeat travelers such as yourself) to the country ❤️
Thank you Gventures. I'm 65 yr old female will be solo traveling for six weeks in Egypt in a couple of weeks. Was there in 2016 no problems.
That's awesome, welcome back!!! ❤️🇪🇬 If you see me, please say hello! 🙏
Much better nowadays than it was during 2016
@@Skeijeindi You'd be surprised how many subscribers I have met on the streets here. They always say "what are the chances, millions of people and I'm running into you!" It's probably because I frequent downtown a lot, and also the pyramids sometimes to film videos
@@Gventures would be cool to see you. I'll have a picture of my motorcycle that I rode on the roads of Alaska when I was 18-19.
I heard the airport officers rob foreigners and Egyptians as well, a lot of beggars and scammers everywhere. Sexual harassment and no cameras without permission from the police. There are many videos on TH-cam about this.
As an Egyptian i thank you for your honesty and The content you provide about Egypt and Egyptians
I was in Egypt last week for three days in downtown Cairo, I was traveling alone, and walked a lot in the downtown area alone, I never felt any danger. I believe it is a safe place. Of course, I'm a male. I'm not sure for females, but they people in Egypt are very nice.
Thank you for sharing your experience Juan 🙏
Welcome at all bro🎉
I was staying in the Downtown area last year as a woman on my own and walked around it a lot and got no hassles at all. I am older, but, yeah.
@@Gventures By the way, thank you for your videos. They helped me a lot while I was in Cairo
@@juanrangeljuarez7989 Thanks man, happy to hear it! 😊🙏
Is it safe to travel to Alexandria?
@@sonakalia2547 Of course. I am going to be riding my motorcycle solo from Cairo to Alexandria soon. It's safe in Alexandria.
Very safe
Ich stimme zu 🙏🏻
Wow, a lot of people seem to have had a bad time in Turkey regarding scams, judging from the amount of likes on your comment, I'm surprised! I didn't personally get scammed much in Turkey, but I guess I am quite meticulous with my money and spending and check everything 😅 Anyways, very happy to hear you enjoyed your time in Egypt ❤️
You don’t have to be from the us, if you’re not Turkish you’re scammed period.

@@EslamRagab24 Hey thank you , Mexico City :)
Thank you.
You're most welcome in Egypt and your family. I hope it will be one of your best experiences.
If u're blond then prepare urself to be viewed as Elon Musk 😂 the filthy rich foreigner n expect to be expected to pay as one
If ur wife is blonde , she'll have to cover more n dress modestly , we're Egyptians n my daughter is blonde ( not veiled alas!) but she's always have a large scarf aroud her neck and/or a long cardigan until she reaches her destination .
But people will celebrate u like movie stars🤷♀️ .
If u're brown like us then u're saved n u'll blend in just fine until u open ur mouthes😂 but they'll be merciful of u .
Have a lovely trip
I think Jordanians are much calmer people, generally more sophisticated n better educated n much more composed , they are 5 or 10 milions something , Egyptians are 100 millions🤪
Good luck
If u're blond expect to be viewed as Elon Musk😅 , the filthy rich foreigner n expect to be expected to pay more so try to enjoy the overprice but be aware at the pyramids , we're trying to get rid of those people but somehow they don't go away.
If ur wife is blonde then she needs to cover more n dress modestly, we are native but my daughter is blonde ( she's not veiled alas!) whenever she goes out she's having a large scarf on her neck and/or a long cadigan on until she reaches her destination
But u'll be both celebrated as movie stars🤷♀️

Thank you so much Paul! ❤️🙏
Dang. That's dark. That happened in my neighborhood in NYC too, in a park near where I lived. Terrible
I am also from Oregon and I understand what you mean, completely!

Thank you girl, and happy to hear I could provide some peace of mind! Enjoy your time here 🥰🇪🇬
Although all the countries that share borders with Egypt have unrest, Egypt is safe, God willing, and no one can cross the line with Egypt.

A very honest fair summary about the situation here in the country. Hope you all the best always Giselle..
Amazing video and a lot of Information . If it wasn’t safe there wouldn’t be people walking around right. Thanks Gigi you’re amazing. ❤
I watched that video when your phone was stolen, you got your phone back! Amazing!
Yeah, and I forgot to mention that in the video because I got distracted talking about Vietnam or something, unbelievable! I can't believe I forgot to mention I got it back! Kind of relevant for a video talking about safety 😆🤦♀️

Lol I love your comment Lesley, thank you lady! ❤️🙏
You are 100 percent right about how peoples’ experiences and perceptions can color how they think about something. And as you say, it is key to be respectful of the cultures of where you travel. An excellent video, thank you!
Thank you 🙏
Twenty five years ago I travelled to Egypt as a single female and never felt unsafe - annoyed at times but not unsafe.

Awesome, welcome to Egypt! 🇪🇬 And yeah if you see me, please say hi! ❤️🤗
Thank you for telling the truth as an Egyptian I am really happy to see how foreign people who love Egypt thank you all love♥♥♥
Spent 3 days in downtown Cairo thanks to info you provided. 65 yr old solo female American in a back brace.wandered around downtown with no problem.

Yeah I know about the history of course, as I live here
Lol oooh I love India! How was your trip??
I am egyptian who has been living in Australia for 10 years. Visiting egypt once every year. That is a fair and honest video. Your filming from streets in old Cairo like Garden city, maadi, old cbd (west elbalad), and where you receive verbal annoying comments, and may be verbal harrasments, is very transparent. I was eager to learn your perspective since you are an avid traveller, especially to where the crowds and the real people are. Not just the resorts and the fenced complexes.
I love your work. You explore the true spirit of the places and the people.
Thank you Ashraf. I really love Egypt

I’ll be in Egypt in the next few weeks with my partner and I’m so excited and it’s thanks to you! You helped me feel more confident about the trip.
That's awesome to hear, thank you! Egypt is a really cool country, there is SO much to see and do here, so much history of course, but the people are super fun too, the music is beautiful, the culture is very rich ❤️
@@Gventures we’re super excited to explore. I know I planned to do pier 88 for dinner cause of your videos
Absolutely. Positive thinking is powerful
Hiii Giselle!! My husband and I always look forward to your videos❤ It makes him feel a little closer to home. He’s Egyptian and is always surprised as to how many new places you have shown and he didn’t know about.
I hope you can one day make a video of Alexandria. The short time I lived there was my absolute favorite🥰😍
Maa el Salama!
Very interesting video ,very useful informations ,will make lots of people trust in coming to visit Egypt
Thank you Gisselle , I really appreciate that ❤❤❤
Friend and I coming soon for first time thanks for having the channel
Welcome to Egypt 🥰🇪🇬
@@Gventures thank you. We’re in Alexandria now leaving for Cairo. Do you happen to know how long the train ride is?
@@austingonzales1751 I don't. But it can't be more than a few hours. A bus usually takes around 4, and I think the train is faster
Thank you very much m,s traveling i appreciate tihs , god pleased you , i live near the Pyramids
I love your vlogs, I'll be there in two weeks :):) ❤
Your the best Gigi my family goes to Egypt every year it is very safe
I’m going in December and what are your souvenir suggestions?
Ahaha, yeah I love the local markets. ❤️ Thanks lady, and welcome back to Egypt! 🇪🇬
I'm still leary after watching and reading some of the other things that I've seen. But after watching this video I'm starting to feel better. I really want to visit, but I want to be safe too. Thank you for sharing sharing 🙏
No worries vkki047, just giving my honest opinion on the matter. This video has been long overdue, finally got around to making it.
ive noticed that recently many egypt haters comment on your content negatively.. i believe they dont LIke the objective info you present ...either for subjective reasons/personal experience or whatever..the more your channel will gain popularity the more you will get that... keep on the good work
Thank you Mahmoud 🙏❤️
Egypt is very safe and beautiful country
I promised my dog if it's just her and me, that we'll go to Albania together.

We welcome all of our guests with much love ❤
Hi!
Thank you so much for sharing yr thoughts and experiences, very helpful. I’m about to travel to Egypt for the first time and thinking abt safety and culture awareness: do u think it would make my time easier (less attention) if I wear a headscarf?
I’m not muslim but don’t mind really
Just curious if u think it will make a difference in my day to day or it doesn’t matter cause they can tell I’m foreign and perhaps attract even more attention..?
Thank you so much in advance!
You might draw less attention. Honestly I can't be sure, because I've never worn the hijab. Try it out and let me know! I think you will get less stares and be noticed a bit less. Once you start speaking of course it own't matter, but for just walking around and people not looking closely, it might draw a tad less curiosity.
I am new fan .. Watched 15 videos in the first time i saw you ❤
Lol thanks! And welcome to the channel 🥰
Egypt is safe for me🙏🏻 I stay here for long time🙏🏻🙏🏻❤ 😊
Welcome to egypt ❤
I was like I recognise where you're walking then I saw the BGLS bus 😄 I went to BGLS as a child and lived in that area as a child for a few years. You're in one of the busiest areas in Cairo 😄 Glad you're enjoying your time 🙏🏻
Yes I'm very central here in Cairo while walking around recording this. I don't think this is the busiest area though, to be honest. Downtown is active, but not extremely crowded (unless we are talking about at night during Ramadan 😅). I would say in Ramses or near Ataba it is much more crowded.
As seen in this microbus video: th-cam.com/video/mK0wUQcpmG0/w-d-xo.html
Or Ataba video: th-cam.com/video/u2T2Deiwdo4/w-d-xo.html
Thanks, I do love living here.
@@Gventures I'm in process of watching! Thank you!
Long distance is not a problem, I like it😁
I traveled a week Cairo and Alexandria last month. It was super and 100% safe. I book a flight for february again 😅 Beautiful country and people.
Lol that's awesome. Welcome back! 🎉🇪🇬
I am an expat in the land down under. I haven't been home for over 8 years, but your channel makes me feel like I am back home ❤. I appreciate your sincerity, and I am always happy to watch your adventures. Thank you.
Thank you so much Mustafa 🙏 Glad I'm able to give you a slice of home while so far away, always makes me happy to hear that ❤️
Hey, I'm from Taiwan, which is also a pretty safe country!
It is needed subject Gisselle
Safety is very important
All around or the wholistic feeling of being safe in a place
Basic Safety
Basic safety where the person can feel safe
However the Egyptians are very kind people will be there in tough times
You showed great examples of safety like cat 🐈 calling
But as you said in NYC cat calling and even groping is infamous, father more snatching your gold or pocket book
Rape also is happening in NYC

From this video, you do another video.
As Giselle herself
You answer this question
“Why I fell in love with Egypt 🇪🇬 and decided to stay?”
You might be interested in an episode with this title?
Nice to see you being interviewed on someone else's channel. 😊
Ahaha oh you saw that? Lol yeah he was a subscriber and messaged me asking to meet up, I figured why not, I had some time. Asked me if he could film and again, why not? Lol. He was nice, and that's how I first met Mo! (microbus video guy)
@@GventuresYep, his video popped up on my feed.
@@fv1291 Wow lol that's wild. TH-cam Algorithm 😆
another great video, all this is very true. one question, what visa do you have to stay so long in egypt? Visas are very controlled in egypt and it is not easy to extend them beyond 6 months
Actually, lots of tourists extend their visa past 6 months. They just keep renewing, if they want to stay a long time and explore. I don't have a tourist visa anymore, but what kind of visa I am on now I consider private information so I won't be sharing that, sorry! But you can look into it online, there are many different ways to stay depending on your reasons, situation, etc.
I love you 💕 Giselle !
You are amazing ❤
