Buddy Cole was such a wonderfully confident, effeminate, queer, snarky, sassy gay character, but he was also a winner. He always made and got the joke. He just owned it so beautifully. Long live Buddy.
I think when taking into account all their skits/movies, etc., this is IMO the best skit they ever did. Every second and line works magically and flawlessly. Just truly genius stuff.
This is one of the funniest skits by one of the funniest people. The Kids are a hilarious troupe and he's one of the best. He can play any role from a stoner trading his jacket to the devil, an at&love exec, a flaming bar owner named Buddy Cole, or the maitre d' of a fine dining establishment.
The name of the team isn't Softball Sluggers, it's Sappho's Sluggers. Sappho was a prolific poet who composed poems to be performed accompanied to music on the island of Lesbos. Throughout history her sexuality has been debated, and yes, this is where the term lesbian comes from.
3:54 if this doesn’t describe being the athletic gay kid in PE idk what does. Just gotta look back and make sure the girl in the Cookie Monster pants is following you!
Kids in the Hall is one of the greatest TV shows ever made, and I love Scott Thompson and I'm straight lol. "I lost my drum! I lost my Indian drum! NO DRUM NO PARTY"
I love this. btw: @ 1:33 one of the players says "Whadda ya mean, a strike?" after the ump called the batter out. But, the batter swung :D There's no argument if the batter swings at it!
Buddy is my gay king and mentor. He taught me so many things but one thing about me unlike him is he is more experienced in bars and clubs and sexually active where as I'm all quiet and rather be hidden at home
Patrick Mccallion oh please mary. With that hairdo and posting this “me me me” story talking all about yourself ? You are cookie cutter self absorbed gay. Next.
I really miss the '80s and '90s, when we could be our stereotypes and and tease each other and it was a sign of respect. I miss the kids in the hall they never let this on TV these days because a bunch of lesbians would get pissed off LOL
@Marcos Darbyshire punching down lol what did you study Marxism to you got to put everybody into groups and find out who's the most oppressed and victimized? You people are everything that's wrong in the world
This could quite possibly be the most original and drop dead hilarious comedy sketch ever!! 30 plus yrs later and it is still amazingly funny!
"It had attitude."
"I was thinking of something else."
"Touchdown!"
I absolutely love it!
Omg he’s brilliant!
"It had attitude" lol! I met Scott Thompson in Los Angels and he was brilliantly nice. What a joy to be around.
Buddy Cole was such a wonderfully confident, effeminate, queer, snarky, sassy gay character, but he was also a winner. He always made and got the joke. He just owned it so beautifully. Long live Buddy.
I just saw this sketch on Pluto TV and I was in tears with laughter. Scott Thompson was always at his best when playing Buddy Cole.

"That's why when my friend OPAL asked me to manage the softball team"
....Gets Me Everytime!
This skit was one of the best ones with Buddy Cole EVER
I'm using Buddy's softball uniform as my Halloween costume this year!
I think when taking into account all their skits/movies, etc., this is IMO the best skit they ever did. Every second and line works magically and flawlessly. Just truly genius stuff.
And to think it almost never aired!
It really is a masterpiece.
Perfection in every moment.
@@gretchenhangleton9603 what's the story behind that?
Sausages
30 Helens agree: Classic sketch! And to think they considered cutting this!
This sketch had such an outsize influence on my gay teenage self.
Quite possibly my favorite comedy skit ever.

Hopefully you're enjoying the new season!
I wish so much that baseball players in real life ran the bases exactly like this every time.
A martini with Gatoraid - OMG!
Goethefemme , Not the tastiest of thoughts.

It had attitude. Love it.

"Hold this...I'll be back"
This is one of the funniest skits by one of the funniest people. The Kids are a hilarious troupe and he's one of the best. He can play any role from a stoner trading his jacket to the devil, an at&love exec, a flaming bar owner named Buddy Cole, or the maitre d' of a fine dining establishment.
Buddy Cole, a hero for all times!
Still one of my favorite sketches.

There is no place like Home! Easily my favorite sketch.

Buddy's in a league of his own.
2:23 Gataorade martini LOL
2:08 I’ve never seen anyone move like that and it’s glorious to behold
Kids in the Hall is one of the greatest TV shows ever made, and I love Scott Thompson and I'm straight lol. "I lost my drum! I lost my Indian drum! NO DRUM NO PARTY"
One of my favorites. 😸
Poor Sylvia
excuse me for coaching!
I think Buddy actually said "Sappho Sluggers."
Run those bases and don’t make a big to do about it!
That was seriously almost as epic as A League Of Their Own. 3
I love this sketch soo soo much.
One of my fAVOURITES!! XXx
4:51 Apparently some of the other Kids questioned this part. "Are we really gonna use a Bugs Bunny joke?"
oh wow, Shonna is in a Steps sketch too! I love how they reuse and crossover characters :)
Priceless...
The pitcher’s atavistic victory howl after striking out Shona…
Can't believe they struck out the Eradicator
Comedy GOLD right there!
I can’t believe the other four kids thought this wasn’t funny enough to air.
Jealousy is so UGLY!
Dental dams in a gay bar hahahahahaha
Ta da!!
classic.
God I love cliche's..............
Flawless!
He said taadahhh. ! Hahaha
Gives new meaning to "pitchers" and "catchers".
Fucking genius
Best Buddy flashback.
I love you, BUDDY!!!!
“She’s a sailor”
No use for seamen
That could have been nasty!
I think that's "Sappho's Sluggers".
How many young dudes did this character prevent from being actual homophobes?
buddy go on and on lov u
I love this.
btw: @ 1:33 one of the players says "Whadda ya mean, a strike?" after the ump called the batter out. But, the batter swung :D There's no argument if the batter swings at it!
Scott Thompson is a big BLue Jays and Maple Leafs fan. So, you are incorrect.
i like how the swing with one hand was like if he was spanking someone. do you think that was intentional?
Touchdown!
I used to think something like this could never happen.
HAHAHAHA love it
God, I remember this sketch. Buddy was so alpha. HOT.
"Labels"
whem i say manage i mean the whole ball of wax
Ta-da 😏
Isn’t it “Sappho’s Sluggers”?
Where is a good place to buy a potato?

@Marcos Darbyshire Let me guess you're a millennial. The most miserable generation that's ever existed
@Marcos Darbyshire punching down lol what did you study Marxism to you got to put everybody into groups and find out who's the most oppressed and victimized? You people are everything that's wrong in the world
He really was the only genuinely funny one in the troupe. But I liked the show back in the day.
What are you talking about they're all great.
Lorne Michaels poached the pitcher......as he did with the Lemmings, Second City, and National Lampoon. He is a master at stealing people.
"lesbian softball" is redundant
