I've seen quite a few tutorials about making houses with clay but yours looked the neatest. I clicked on this to see how neatly you finished it up. It was so satisfying to watch right till the end and how patiently you sanded it to give it the perfect finishing touch. Loved it! ❤
This is lovely! I love your tutorial and the detail in it, you show how to go about every step and that's super useful. The end result is incredibly pretty! Thanks for sharing!
Wow I’m glad I found your channel! I live in Florida and we are moving near my daughter. I do pottery. I’m giving it up and going to start with air dry clay. When I saw your house peace I got excited and would love to make a few. Thank you for your tutorial. Joanne
I love this, thank you for sharing. Your tutorial is so easy to follow. Can i ask how did you print the pattern on to the clay? I tried wet my clay like you did but when i peel the paper, there is no pattern on the clay.
Actually, I can't recall how much clay I used for this project, but I know that I opened a 1 kg pack and used a big chunk of it. I think a 500gr would be enough if you roll the walls thin, but that will weaken the structure for sure. I hope this helps ☺️
It's a precision knife (also known as a craft knife or X-acto knife). You can find it in craft stores or hardware stores. They are also available in sets with various blades. Usually, they have these 'flat-headed' ones in two sizes.
Adoro questo tuo progetto 💕 Vorrei fare alcune domande: che tipo di stampa hai usato? Unisci le varie parti asciutte? In quanto tempo asciugano? Dopo aver unito con la colla quanto tempo aspettare per passare la carta abrasiva? Grazie!!!
Hi, Maria! I used my inkjet printer for the templates (to my best knowledge, that's the only ink that transfers to the clay). I let the wet clay walls dry for 2 days. I joined the parts using strong white craft glue, one piece at a time, and let them dry for at least half an hour. It may take longer if you use a different type of glue. After assembling the house, I used wet clay to patch the sides, cracks, and edges. I let it dry overnight before sanding.
Thank you Melain! I used Darwi air dry clay (but I love to work with DAS too), a craft knife set (for the windows), a small heart cookie cutter, a blade (to cut the longer parts), white craft glue, white acrylic paint and a sponge to apply the paint. I printed the template on copy paper with my inkjet printer. And almost forgot, sandpaper for a smooth finish.
I was just searching for some of these on Etsy and there wasn't a lot of choices so I decided to check TH-cam on how to make one and found yours! How thick are you rolling out the clay? I have a nice chunk of unopened clay and had no idea what I was going to do with it, but now I know... Thank you so much for sharing!
I'm happy that you liked my tutorial. You have to use an inkjet printer to transfer the pattern to the clay. Add a few drops of water to wet the clay before applying the print, but don't over-wet it because the paper will stick to the clay, and it'll be difficult to remove it. :)
Thank you! Actually, I made it myself using Canva. Mixed and matched some basic shapes until I was satisfied with the look. There is the link for the PDF, in the description, if you want to download it :)
I'm so happy you like it! The measures: height - 15 cm, width - 8 cm, length/depth - 7 cm. But you can download the free pdf template from the description and use that for your project ☺
Hi, you can download and print the exact template, if you want. It's in the description. I can also measure it if you don't have a printer, just let me know.
Sadly, air dry will change when drying as the water evaporates. Mine also deformed sligthly. Some brands are more prone to curling, cracking and warping. You can't control the last one. You can sand it after they have dried so they line up better for glueing.
I like to leave them for at least 48 hours, but it also depends on the thickness of the piece and your environment (if it's moist it may take more time). You can do a "nail test" - push your nail on the back, if it leaves only thin/small mark it's dry.
I've found that this method results in a nicer and steadier house. I tried sculpting it wet, but it cracked. Just make sure the clay pieces are 100% dry before gluing 😊
Hi Paula, I found this a really fun DIY to make! In the Netherlands we celebrate Sinterklaas and we make suprise gifts for each other. I used your printable to make my suprise for my sister. I found your DIY on Pinterest and now I also a come across you on TH-cam. I used your printable and modified the pattern a bit and made it into a vase. Do you maybe have an Instagram or TikTok account so I can tag you?
Thank you Jajet! I'm so happy you liked and also tried my DIY 😊 I don't have an Instagram or TikTok. Ijust don't have the time for it. Just the blog and the TH-cam channel.

Hola .
Se dejan secar las paredes antes de pegar ?
Qué pegamento usas ? Cola ?
Hi! Yes, I let the walls dry, then I use a strong white craft glue that dries clear.
Adorable-I love it!

Thank you, Joan! I'm so happy you like my crafts :)
Love your tutorial but I wonder if there is any mold to make this?
I'm sorry but for this house there isn't. I created the template, that you can download or you may search for a similar mold online.
😍 Thanks for sharing !
You're welcome!
Que uso para que las plantillas quedaran marcadas
Could you please tell me if 500gr of clay is enough for this project? I fell in love with your creation and wanna try to do the same 😅

Hi what varnish do you use thank you
Love this! Is there a specific name for the tool you used to cut the windows out?

What kind of glue did you use? Is it heat resistant? Thanks!
I used a strong, water-based craft glue. I don't know if it's heat resistant, sorry.

Nice work, could you put the list of materials you used please, I would like to make it a little house 🥰

Can the air dry clay handle the heat of the candle over time? Does it crack or emit any fumes?
Use only battery operated candles for safety!

I rolled the clay approx. 1/8 inches, but if you have a big chunk of clay you could roll it thicker, like a quarter of an inch (it makes it stronger)
@@ColorfulCraftCorner thank you!
This is so nice!!! Thank you for sharing this with us! ❤❤
How do you get the ink to stick to the clay? Do I use a certain type of paper?

So cute! Very nicely done ! TFS! How long did u let the pieces dry before assembling them with glue? Thank u and blessings
Thank you! I let the walls dry approx. 48 hours, a couple of hours for the glue to cure, and let the patched parts dry overnight before sanding.
eu estava precisando de ideia, agradeço muito,
abraços daqui de holambra sp.
It’s sooo good, can I ask from where did you get the pic of the house
Thank you! Actually, I made it myself using Canva. Mixed and matched some basic shapes until I was satisfied with the look. There is the link for the PDF, in the description, if you want to download it :)
Does any glue work for this or any specific type
I used a strong white craft glue that dries clear, butyou can try any other glue that's suitable for porous surfaces
Hi! It's amazing 😍 is it possible to know the measures of your house template? I'd like to give it a try ☺
I'm so happy you like it! The measures: height - 15 cm, width - 8 cm, length/depth - 7 cm. But you can download the free pdf template from the description and use that for your project ☺
good afternoon! what are the dimensions of the parts?
Hi, you can download and print the exact template, if you want. It's in the description. I can also measure it if you don't have a printer, just let me know.
How did you ensure that the clay doesnt warp while it tries? I tried it out and my walls dont line up after the drying period.
Sadly, air dry will change when drying as the water evaporates. Mine also deformed sligthly. Some brands are more prone to curling, cracking and warping. You can't control the last one. You can sand it after they have dried so they line up better for glueing.
Tell me why i still probably couldn't afford to live in that house
Why would you use glue instead of slip?
This way, I could make the house faster and the edges nicer, but you can use slip too if you want to.
How long should walls dry?
I like to leave them for at least 48 hours, but it also depends on the thickness of the piece and your environment (if it's moist it may take more time). You can do a "nail test" - push your nail on the back, if it leaves only thin/small mark it's dry.
Why do you use glue to stick the clay pieces together please? Can you not stick them together with the clay. Thanks
I've found that this method results in a nicer and steadier house. I tried sculpting it wet, but it cracked. Just make sure the clay pieces are 100% dry before gluing 😊
