Wow this is the best raw footage of pipeline ive ever seen! Drone shots let you see it from all the perspectives, all the angles, you can actually judge the shape of the wave, how steep the drop is etc, it feels like sitting in the channel next to it lol. Bro awesome work, i really hope you do more videos like this🙏
haha, the story behind why we measure waves 1/2 the size is pretty classic. Has nothing to do with measuring from the back. Back in the day, lifeguards had to give the surf report to town. And when the waves were pumping, they would report a much smaller wave height than it actually was...so people from town wouldn't drive out and crowd the lineups. Great strategy, imo. And it just stuck
Awesome. Hows those big knargly wedges where the drop is like solid 8 feet then in twenty meters its nothing. Folds in on itself. Amazing how much energy is dispersed. Lots of water moving round out there.
Thiis drone footage is sick! is yourMavic a zoom lense? Also not sure if you already do, but you can adjust the throttle curve sensitivity and turning sensitive for the DJI drones, so when you do the minor pan left or right movements, its super fine and controlable
@@OffDaLip Ayee. Nice, and not really, I just have worked with DJI drones so long that when I was doing those pans where you are focusing on the target and panning / turning slightly, it was so much harder before I switched the Controller settings. I think you have to turn up the "expo" on the (turn left and right) axis, not sure which that is, but its cool how precise you can get the controls it seems. Nice video as always though
@@FreeEditsForYou Yea, i tweaked those settings awhile back but I need to check them again and get it dialed in.. This was my first time flying a drone since June. Still getting my bearings again lol. But yea, I completely agree 🤙
@ just develop your own style. Keep the perspective of the wave in shots instead of the surfer. That’s my take. I used to shoot footage 20 years ago with a taped on camera to a RC Helicopter. It was a pain
This was Surfline's call. There were definitely some 12 footers from the 2nd reef, but they were mostly closing out. The 6-8 footers that would frame up on first reef were much more consistent
Too much West in that swell. Give it a day. Less wind, more North angle: glassy. The power is there, and I am sure the current was fierce. LOTS of water moving around.
@@OffDaLip i'm banned from surfing pipe as i tend to displace so much water power carving that lots of it gets stuck in orbit thus disrupting space travel ..so good job i wasn't out there putting in a casual but life changing experience for people

@@FrankCollette thank you. Yea, we'll see what happens this winter. Really appreciate the support!
Sound of the sea. Gorgeous.
one of the best videos of pipe ever, captures how truly wonderful this place is. insane angles!
thank you!!!
This footage is epic!!! Love these angles. Please keep it coming.
Thanks, got a few more coming 🤙
Finally a video that shows the whole scene at large! Well done and thank you.
Glad you enjoyed. There'll be plenty more coming 🤙
The best video I have seen of how fast the wave is moving and the rip - incredible to see
Yea, that rip was in full effect. Thank you 🙏
Even in thise not so perfect conditions, it never gets old. Nice flying there Capt🤙🏼
this drone footage really gives some perspective of this massive wave, awesome
glad you enjoyed. Is there anything I could do to make the footage better?
Awesome drone footage. Let’s hope this is an example of what’s to come this winter. Glad to see ya back. Thanks ODL 🤙
Hopefully🤞thank you! Good to be back 🤙
JOB would be proud! I think I saw his house in this video!
Peace and Cowabunga!~
That high tide roll in makes it a little more user friendly. Looks super fun.
Definitely, but only if you pick the right one. Pick the wrong one and you're looking at up at a two story closeout.
Wassup, welcome back J...the 96712 has woken up ! Let the sand drift begin🤙🏼
Good to be back 🙏 Sand drift 2024 has officially begun
The drone work is insane!
What an experience of a lifetime to have the ability to surf Pipeline
Great footage! Looking forward to more.
Got a few more coming 🤙
Sick angles. We're definitely calling this 15 foot in california 😂
Haha. Basically just divide the wave in 1/2 and that’s Hawai’i size 🤙
You've definitely leveled up on the drone filming, these shots are incredible
Thank you 🙏 Stoked you appreciate it
I could literally fall asleep by watching this video🏄♂️
haha, well thanks for commenting before you fell asleep 😴
I’m on the mainland right now, bad timing!!! 3rd reef setting up, sweet!
Where you been? This footage is next level. Props for the work and progression. Aloha from across the planet.
Thank you! I've been traveling a lot. Got back to Oahu a few weeks ago. Ready to rock and roll 🤙
It took me 1 sec to figure out that this is fake footage ... AI generated. 😅😂
It's good to see what we call 12 to 15ft or double overhead+ in Florida.

@ thx
Is it me, or is Pipe not the epic barrel it used to be?
This is just early season. Pipe usually begins to show it's iconic self in December-January. 🤙
There is a lot of water moving around out there.
Yup, and much needed to move the sand
So sick
Omg the lip crashing on the dude at 1:15.
The ol’ pipeline curtain call

Yup. After this, we should begin to see some nice Pipe days 🤙
Fantastic drone angles - well done and many thanks. (It's not 10-15 though ... locals might be saying 6 ft, maybe 8 on the sets)
Thank you. Yup. Mentioned that in the description. There were some 12+ ft waves, but only the 6-8 footers on first reef were rideable
1 - 2 FT Hawaiien
Flat Pipe
Legal
Definitely not 10-15 foot Pipe...more like 6-8 occasional 10...You would not see bodyboarders out if it was 10-15
There were some solid 12 footers, but they just closed out. But yea, the rideable ones were a bit smaller
look a bit mushy
There were drainers but the wind made it tricky
