  • Taking our 2020 Can-Am Maverick X3 offroad on Hancock Pass (Rd 295) and Alpine Tunnel connector (839) from St. Elmo area over to near Pitkin, Colorado. Not difficult but very rocky in some sections.

I was thinking of taking my 2022 AWD Transit van over that pass but after this video I'll "pass". We would have to do a lot of road work, probably a week or more, and Cumberland Pass is so much easier with the same scenery. Good job on the video! Thanks!

I'll bet that belt in the CVT transmission was smoking hot.

Actually no, we are still on the original belt. No problems at all.

@@mckeanbrosoffroad150 We used to camp at Middle Quartz and ride the entire area, clear over to Taylor Reservoir, Alpine Tunnel, etc.. Love the area.

Are you running in 4wd low going downhill? Why?

You get some engine braking benefits in low, anything to help control speed. The trails are steeper than they appear in the vids.
