Really glad to hear that Justin. Dividends are what helped Buffett achieve his success. It's a simple strategy anyone can understand and the discipline required to increase a dividend for so long usually points to a quality company that wants to keep that track record of growth going.

Thanks Joe. I used to think working in index funds or index providing companies like MSCI is boring. When I was young, everyone was aimed to be IB or equity research analyst. I think we do not understand the underlying mechanism behind the index companies and perceive it is simple. Your framework and methodology are great fundamental for stock investing. You have widened my financial perspective and I think my nanalyze premium subscription is one of the best investment I made this year.

To be honest, it can be a bit boring - depends on the role - but incredibly useful from a learning perspective. I'm very happy to hear your Nanalyze Premium subscription has proved to be so valuable. That's the most important thing to me. We will only be able to scale this business if people say good things about our offering. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts! Joe P.

@@Nanalyze When I look for the dividend stock, I would normally be allured by dividend yield and will dig deeply for detail of each individual stock. Long track record of dividend growth and diversification are essential. Do index funds or MSCI consider stocks from top-down point of view (rather than bottom up)? I think they look for the company's ratios and financial metrics, but they never look deeply into detail of each individual stock, right? I think this is more proper way when we have diversification effect from >30 stocks in portfolio. It saves a lot of time and effort, while return might not be much differ (compared to associated risks).
This year, I have learnt a lot of good fundamentals from the channel for tech stock investing and am planning for creating dividend portfolio too. If I will not get rich from tech stocks, then I can have enough money for retirement from dividend hahaha

MSCI is purely focused on creating objective index methodologies that other companies can use to build financial products on. They don't make any active decisions like ARK does. They'll start with the entire stock universe (MSCI ACWI IMI) and then slice and dice it into 100s of smaller indices. Regarding dividend stocks vs tech stocks, less than 15% of our assets are in our tech portfolio. Over half our assets are in a "boring" old 30-stock dividend growth portfolio and it's worked remarkably well over the years. Your income goes up every year and your spending power does as well. That's without even touching the principle. Start now and you'll be very happy in a few decades. Just reinvest the dividends if you don't need the income and it will compound even faster.
