    What an extremely clever system, with all the benefits of not buying, storing, handling and repairing wooden pallets!
    The heavy load sits lower, meaning a lower centre of gravity and better vehicle handling, less weight without pallets, too.

    Having used one many times over the last 20 years they do have a place. However in my experience light freight is ok. But when you get heavy stuff inevitably the tab gets torn and your pretty well screwed. And even if the tab is good the fork blades can damage things. Plus it significantly reduces the lifting capacity of the lift being used.

    Imagine what 10 years of this will do to the floors of warehouses being scraped away, the floors of trucks being torn to shreds, and the countless "spatulas" that will need to be replaced due to endless grinding on those surfaces. A lighter, stronger, and more readily recyclable pallet would be a much better use of R&D money. Plus, as mentioned in the comments, the infrastructure is already in place worldwide.

    I like how the slipsheet loads arrive all turned over from the driver doing doughnuts and you have to hand stack any damn way

  • @betaripoff
    @betaripoff 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The only problem with that is that many forklifts still being used today don’t have a sheet-clamp system like they’ve demonstrated here, so if anything will be more difficult trying to get the forks to properly balance and secure the sheet on the forklift than if you were to just use a pallet.

  • @torican1
    @torican1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Guys - There is some pretty (sadly) thick comments below. In my previous experience, we have used these attachments for bulk loading into containers. Our factory staff stack export only product on a slipsheet, sitting on a pallet. When we go to load the container, the pallets are pulled out to the container using a standard forklift and then loaded using the slipsheeter. This allows for approx 2x extra units high to be stacked and saves a huge amount of time with hand stacking.

  • @anonymousprime1723
    @anonymousprime1723 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Only effective if every delivery point has the same attachments...otherwise it's completely useless. What you need is a thin, light weight pallet that can be easily managed by all forklift and pallet jacks. Been operating forklifts for nearly ten years.

    Great idea, but trouble is that the pallet is the standardised system. To get this to work, you would need a forklift capable at drop off location as well, there isn't any way of doing this with a hand truck either.

      Pallets weigh all of 30- 50 lbs .An 18-20 pallet load only accounts for 540- 1000lbs max .Generally this doesn't add up to even one extra pallet worth of saved weight , but damaged product certainly seems to increase quite a bit .

    Got one of these at work. One of our suppliers insists the container space gained by not using pallets is worth the extra time spent tipping. All of their stock is rack only so it has to palletised anyway.
    All of that faffing about means their stock ends up with the highest amount of damages, thereby cancelling out the benefit of getting more in a container!

      @Ryan-re1rs 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      PatrickA65. You have it all wrong here. Yes pallets are still needed, but think about the cost and extra weight to ship pallets? That's a lot of money wasted every year in shipping space and weight! Plus the people who use this would be huge bulk shippers and receivers, this would cut cost down and you could reuse the pallets and not need to bring more into your factory or warehouse. If I could sell and ship you 4 pallets at the price of 3.5 pallets, I'm sure you would take that. Even if we had to re pallet it later. Paying a guy on the fork lift to work more, or paying a shipping company way more and ship less product?

How would you like to use that? Put another batch of bottles? If so you would be over the weight limit of the truck.
    I am sure there would be interesting applications, but you choose wrong example.

    The slip sheet . Coors brewing company used these and they sucked . In early 2000 when Miller bought Coors they went back to shipping on pallets. Nestle Purina also used these and that was worse than Coors as they used super cheap cardboard sheets not heavy plastic pull and slip sheets and it was even easier for the platen to rip up the sheet and the bottom layer of bags or boxes if not picked up just right ...lol... These suck in real warehouse situation where you're going for speed unlike a demonstration where you have all the time in the world . Nothing like pulling unit off a UPL and watching the unit twist sideways as the sheet gets hung up .

    End of the day the product still ends up on a pallet. I would rather go with the pallet load to save time at the delivery. The tie-high looks like a straight pull off . Just my opinion.

      Dear Murphythe concept is many used when you want to ship large amount from A to B place.Many savings :- Pallet costs - Space to store pallet- Volume in the container .... and therefore transportation costs- Time to load and unload if you are against bulk load ...

  • @rafar5392

    I don't really see a point in this. Sure it may reduce a bit of height from the pallets, but you're giving up the stability provided from the pallet.
    Also, if you make trucks shorter, you'd also need shorter forklifts, which just creates unnecessary expenses.

    • @cgpcoatinginnovation
      @cgpcoatinginnovation  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear Rafa, the load on the slipsheet is more stable than on a pallet. the point is to be able to load more in the container or the truck... you will load up to 15% extra.

    How do I become a forklift operator? I need a job where I won't be lifting as heavy

    • @el_presidente
      @el_presidente 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You probably just need to apply lol. I'm not in the US but at my work we are always looking for forklift operators, mostly night shift jobs. You might start doing simple tasks such working at gound floor, stacking empty pallets, etc. then if you do a good job the company should pay for your forklift license and start doing real stuff. Light stuff is often carried by order picking lifts, but jebus order picking is a rather intense job.

    I hate slip trucks. And to unload your dont unstack by hand by what a few people in here say. We use a slip truck to take them off trailer. Then we slip them onto a pallet it would take all day to hand stack where as a slip truck takes about a hour. I work for liquor division and like i said i hate the slip but it does save on time big time. But all lift drivers love when trucks have product on pallets

      @cgpcoatinginnovation  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear Doug, it is correct, you need a forklift and an attatchment !Pallet less concept is mainly dedicated to large volume flow ... in this case customers and.or logistic plateforms are equiped with forklift and the push pull attatchement is not a big investment.

    In a warehouse environment where "stacking" is essential your better off just using pallets. LLOP'S can pick up 2 pallets at a time but not these.....😏

  • @TigerDude333
    @TigerDude333 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Let's take a failed idea that is so bad most people haven't even heard of it, and re-brand it as "eco-friendly!"
    What is wrong with slipsheets: 1) increased damage 2) increased cost of the push pull attachment 3) worse productivity in handling 4) increased training for drivers 5) increased cost because your 3PL will charge you to put it on a pallet 5) your customers will hate you and will find another vendor. 6) cost of slipsheet is throwaway because the product will end up on pallets anyway 6) no way to load from the wide side so can't pinwheel in a trailer so can't get 30 pallet positions in a 53' trailer.
