    Obviously, this project has become the favorite of handymen and those not so handy, AKA me! However, my grandson would love it! I have the weedeater motor and thanks to you and a few others I have just enough info to blow myself up lol In the famous words of Henry Ford, The Wright Bros., etc. "Yall watch this"...

    When I made mine I used a bike peg that had machined criss cross grooves and it worked in the rain just fine but the snow would build up on the tire and it would start slipping

    Hey a good way to add grip for rain or snow add grip tape around the tube to grab more onto the tire works better so can still ride in rain

    • @triggeredhondaboy6887
      @triggeredhondaboy6887  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah thats the question, you could try griptape but the amount of heat and wear the peg takes it probably wouldn't last more than a few minutes. What I have seen people do is carve grooves along the peg but I haven't tried it myself. You could probly get more grip with less bracing but even then you still wouldn't get much go in the wet. If you need it for the rain you'd probably be best off chain drive. Good luck either way!

    What I did was take a 13mm socket and my flywheel in my echo trimmer has the threads to fit on a fine thread 13mm socket so I took the nut and welded it into the socket

    Built a 25cc weed eater 20in chopper bike in less then 3hrs its sketchy an definitely not complete but it was easy to start building. 140lbs an it'll get up to 23mph pretty consentily

    Certainly a good way to wake up the neighbours i like the idea keep things simple you could cross hatch the drive with a grinder to get more grip

    Nice build man I’m thinking about building my own. Should I do friction drive or chain drive? Also what is the top speed?

    • @triggeredhondaboy6887
      @triggeredhondaboy6887  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey man thanks, as for the drive line chain drive is definately better for getting power down in the wet and dailing in gearing. However attaching gears is a nightmare if you dont buy one of those kits. Speed wise this will do like 20kph ish without overheating. And this motor doesnt have the torque for a higher gear lol. If you have the motor I'd just bolt as many supports on as possible and just send er direct drive!

      Chain is alot better and gears really aren't that bad I just did one myself chains alot better and u can just use a small ratio for more speed

    • @triggeredhondaboy6887
      @triggeredhondaboy6887  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah that'll depend another on the gearing or in this case peg size. On this bike you could pedal it to like 20 kph but it won't make it to 20 under its own power nor stay at 20 for very long (over heating/general lack of power). At this gear ratio and power level the motor is more like a pedal assist then an actual power plant lol. If I were to do this again I probably would get a smaller peg and a bigger engine, even with this design it's still a pretty fun project and I'd go for it if you got the time!

    I heard you say if it gets wet you lose power,ive never built anything of this sort for the record but what if you find a way to get some type of rubber to put around the piece that goes on the wheel for better grip

    • @triggeredhondaboy6887
      @triggeredhondaboy6887  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If your sure the thing runs without being on the bike then then its probly just not spinning fast enough to start. I'd guess it's most likely a gearing issue, but if you know the peg is small enough and keeping traction with the tire I'd just try to get the engine to spin as fast as possible. You could try putting the bike in a higher gear, and if you still don't have the wheel speed you can even try just push starting it

    Don't do it because otherwise the engine will break. If you accelerate and take off the gas, the engine doesn't get the right mixture and is no longer lubricated and then the engine seizes
