Husqvarna | How to Install a Guide Bar and Chain.

- Fitting the bar and chain to your chainsaw is easy. However, it is important to get it right: the chain in the right direction, that it is properly tensioned and that the screws for the cover are properly tightened. In this video, we show you how to mount the bar and chain on a Husqvarna chainsaw.
Below you will find a compilation of the steps we go through in the video: how to mount the saw bar and saw chain on your chainsaw . Please note that it may differ slightly between different brands and models.
1. When assembling the chainsaw bar and chainsaw chain, you need gloves and a combination wrench that comes with your chainsaw.
2. Start by checking that the chain brake is released by pulling the handle backwards, otherwise it may be difficult to get the clutch cover back on when reassembling.
3. Remove the clutch cover with the supplied combination wrench by loosening the nuts. Keep in mind that some models may have a plastic transport washer under the clutch cover - this must be removed before mounting the bar and chain.
4. Fit the bar and chain. Place the chain in the groove of the bar and make sure that the cutting teeth are directed forward. If your saw is equipped with a ring gear, the chain should be in this.
5. Refit the clutch cover. It is now important to fit the chain tensioner pin on the clutch cover into the corresponding hole of the bar. Depending on which model you have, the chain tensioner pin can sit on the chainsaw behind the bar and then fit into the bar assembly.
6. Before fully tightening the clutch cover nuts, tension the chain. You can also do this with the included combination wrench. Turn the chain tensioner screw clockwise until you see no slip between the chain and the underside of the bar. Now tighten the nuts properly!
7. Finally, check that the chain can be pulled around by hand. Remember to keep checking the chain tension at regular intervals!
