I’ve had the dream of becoming a neonatologist ever since I was 4! I’m a HS senior now, and I’m still sticking to it 🙏🏾 this video motivated me to keep on going!
One of my best friends just retired as the director of a Level 3 NICU. Amazing speciality. She has had such an impact on families lives. Saving our smallest babies. God Bless you all!!
Actually, 95% of what happens in the NICU is wonderful and happy news. Imagine you get a sick baby and with your skills and knowledge, you get them better and send them home with the families. You are right, it is an ICU, so sometimes you get some really sick babies that don't make it, but those are fairly rare.
Thanks for this Dr. Webb, my wife is currently a PGY1 Peds resident at UNLV and is thinking about pursuing a Neo fellowship. I’ll be sharing this vid with her ASAP!
Neonatology sounds amazing. I am quite sure I will end up in some peds specialty. I am thinking of anesthesia/critical care/hem-onc and maybe neonatology now? Really enjoyed this video Dr. Webb. Thanks!
Thank you! I'm in high school in Florida and my dream is to be a Neonatologist. I know its a long road ahead but this is inspiring me to pursue my dream.
Great video Dr. Ekeke. I'm so happy you chose the field of Neonatology. Best thing in the world! (sorry others). Keep up the excellent care of those itty-bitty ones
Easy Medicine by TMD he has a ton of these videos with other specialties. 71 to be exact... look in the “playlist” section under the heading “Careers in Medicine”.
Thank you for posting this video....it is giving me insight on what this work field is like. Yes I intend on becoming a neonatologist I was premature at birth 1lb 13oz......what can I say its a serious calling I intend on fulfilling.
What is the difference between what a neonatologist does and maternal-fetal medicine physician does? Both deal with critical care concerning babies so why are they considered two different specialties?
Hey passionateberry an MFM is dealing with high risk pregnancy concerning the mother and a neonatologist is dealing with critically ill and premature babies.
Great Video! So do neonatologists perform surgeries or is that only for pediatrics surgeons? Another question, is it possible to complete an neonatology fellowship if you completed a residency in OB/GYN or general surgery?
Good question. No, Neonatalogist do not perform surgeries. Pediatric surgeons do. And most people do a pediatric residency before Neonatology fellowship
I like Neonatology...but could you get a maternal-fetal medicine specialist interview. I know there’s also another specialty that you go towards from pediatric residency.
Dr Webb I’m currently a senior and I really don’t know what pre med route I wanna take do you think is a good idea to study chemical engineering to enter med school ?
Heyy if anyone sees this PLEASE RESPOND. I’m actually graduating high school and I’m going into college to complete my undergraduate schooling. Do you guys know of any great medical schools I should look into after undergraduate school ?? Thank you in advance ❣️
Not sure what you mean by “great!” Pretty much all Medical schools will give you good training and teach you what you need to become a doctor. I would choose medical schools based off of cost, feeling like you fit in, and support that you receive/can receive!
Ekeke sounds nigerian, fellow nigerian doctors repping worldwide! great, insightful video!
Good to see Africans inspiring others.
Yeah that's what I was thinking!

Which one do you have to be an OB/GYN or a pediatrician first then a Neonatologist?
I want to do pre med nursing, do you think that’s a good idea. Ik it’s looked down upon but I wanted to major in something I know I would enjoy.
Do what you will enjoy!!

As long as you have completed the prerequisites yes! Don’t feel restricted to the traditional sciences for undergrad
